Yu Dong leaned back on the chair on which she was sitting, she neither agreed nor did she disagree causing Murong Si to stiffen up. He was not as confident as he looked, in fact, he was worried that Yu Dong would refuse his offer.

Though the offer of the gold mine sounded tempting it was also rather troublesome. Because Yu Dong would have to purchase the entire land where the mine was located and even arrange for people to secure it. Not only that she would also have to submit papers for owning a mine along with the shares that she had to share with the government officials.

It was a long process but his marriage with Yu Tong was going to be held in a few months.

"Can you give me a few days to think about this?" Yu Dong did not agree nor did she refuse. She looked at Murong Si and drummed her fingers on the surface of the table before saying, "This is not a small matter and I need to discuss it with my husbands and family." She doesn’t want to decide on her own.

Yu Dong did not understand much about mining and gold. In case she bought the gold mine and ended up getting involved in even more trouble then it would be more of a loss for her than a gain. The Big River Town did not have many mines and most of those mines were occupied and owned by the officials or the rich merchant.

Most of the merchants and the officials had titles and positions to protect them, but Yu Dong did not have a such thing. She could always buy a title but it won’t help her a lot. If only mers were allowed to take scholar exams, she would have certainly let Yu Jin take it.

With Xian Xieren looking out for one more supporter who could back her up, Yu Dong did not want to get into her scrutiny for the moment. Because of this, she needed to discuss this matter with her family before giving Murong Si a reply.

Though Murong Si was disappointed he also knew that this matter was not something that one could agree to just because they wanted to. Buying a mine was a rather big gamble and it was only right for Yu Dong to take her time and think over it.

Murong Si nodded his head. He said, "You can take as much time as you want, Madam Yu." He stood up from the chair and was about to take his leave but then Yu Dong stopped him. She turned to look at Shen Li and said, "Bring Master Murong to Ah Tong."

Since they were getting married, it was only right for the two of them to at least once. Not to mention, she was certain that Murong Si came to their village under the pretext that he was here to meet Yu Tong.

"I don’t——" Murong Si wanted to refuse because he really had no interest in Yu Tong. However, Yu Dong smiled at him and said, "Master Murong, no matter what you think about this marriage, you should at least meet your marriage match once. If you came all the way to the village and did not meet with Ah Tong, I am sure that people will talk behind your back."

Though she did not say anything directly, Murong Si knew that Yu Dong was warning him to keep up with the pretence since the end. If not then he would be in trouble with his family. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Murong Si closed his eyes, he lowered his head and thanked Yu Dong before following Shen Li who was returning home. Once the two of them were gone, Yu Dong leaned on the back of her chair with a troubled expression, she looked at the ceiling above her head and muttered, "A gold mine huh…"

"Do you have something planned for our wedding?" Yu Tong questioned Lin Hanjing excitedly. She looked at the mer who sat next to her bed and was peeling apples for her.

Lin Hanjing’s face turned red. He placed the apples that he had peeled and handed them to Yu Tong before saying, "You are getting too far ahead, Miss Tong."

"Why?" Yu Tong questioned as she tilted her head to the side with a questioning look on her face. Her expression then twisted into a shocked one as she said to Lin Hanjing, "Don’t tell me you only lied to make my guard drop or something of the sort!? Are you thinking of playing with my body and leaving?"

"When did I play with your body?!" Lin Hanjing demanded with an annoyed expression. A furious blush coated his cheeks. He couldn’t believe that someone was actually accusing him of playing with her body.

Yu Tong opened her mouth and said, "But we slept in the same bed——uff."

She winced when Lin Hanjing shoved a piece of apple in her mouth, his expression full of helplessness and tiredness. He covered his forehead with the back of his hand and sighed heavily before saying, "What do you think you are doing? We only slept and nothing else if someone were to hear you.

They will think that we did something." Lin Hanjing reprimanded Yu Tong who chewed the slice of apple in her mouth silently.

She then said, "Still we did something right?"

"Miss Tong——"

"Ahem," Shen Li who stood outside the door knocked on the wooden surface and cleared his throat. He said to Yu Tong, "Master Murong is here to see you, Sister Dong. Can I let him come inside?"

No sooner did Shen Li finish speaking, than Yu Tong and Lin Hanjing stiffened. They looked at one another before turning to look at the door, Yu Tong didn’t know why Murong Si was here but since he came looking for her, she had no other choice but to meet him even if she did not want to.

"Let him come inside, Brother Lin," Yu Tong answered Shen Li who hummed in response and then pushed open the door, since Yu Tong and Lin Hanjing were not married they could not close the door of the room. With Shen Li pushed open the door, it opened with a simple push.

"Ah Tong," Shen Li looked at the woman who seemed like she was preparing for a fight and warned her subtly, "Dong Dong sent Master Murong to meet you. Treat him well, alright?"

Though Shen Li pulled Yu Dong’s name out in the front to warn Yu Tong, the latter thought that Murong Si actually used Yu Dong to get close to her. Yu Tong got even more upset with Murong Si when she thought about how that mer was already acting so scheming when they hadn’t even married.

"I see," though Yu Tong was upset in her heart, she smiled at Shen Li. Though she used to treat Shen Li and the rest rudely in the past, Yu Tong no longer has the guts to do the same. Since it was Shen Li who asked her to treat Murong Si well, she was willing to treat him nicely even if it was on the surface.

Shen Li could see the reluctance on the face of his sister in law’s face and was speechless but in front of Murong Si, he couldn’t say much. He did not want Murong Si to think that he was not invited. He glanced at Yu Tong before glaring at her lightly, it was a subtle warning to his sister-in-law but that only made Yu Tong feel wronged.

What the hell did that mer do for her brother-in-law to support him like this? Yu Tong couldn’t help but get an impression of a scheming mer like his father. Just like his father who knew how to play the role of victim, Murong Si seemed to be winning the hearts of everyone else in the house.

He did not even visit their house and yet in just one day, he ended up making her sister as well as her eldest brother in law to stand in support of him. It was kinda rather suspicious if Yu Tong was being honest.

"Master Murong, you can come inside now," Shen Li said to Murong Si who walked inside the room.

As soon as he walked inside, Yu Tong stiffened. Even though she had seen this mer in the mall he seemed to have put a special touch to his clothes and make-up. Sure enough, it was an effort to make her attracted but too bad, she was not interested in this mer.

She curled her lips and sarcastically remarked, "Master Murong has put quite a lot of effort into dressing up today. You were not this dressed up on the day when you came to look for me in the mall."

Shen Li and Li Wanjing whipped their heads at Yu Tong with a reproachful look when ——

Murong Si looked at his clothes and raised his head before answering with a nod, "That’s right, that day I was meeting you. But today I came to meet your sister."
