A sudden silence fell inside the room and even Shen Li who was already leaving paused in his stride and let out a soft chuckle. He knew what Yu Tong was thinking in that head of hers, most probably she thought that Murong Si was here to look for her but that mer had no intentions of meeting her.

Inside the room, Yu Tong stared at the mer whose expression was blank like a slate and was stunned. She tried to search Murong Si's expression to make sure if he was pretending to be nonchalant or was he truly uncaring but no matter how she looked at his expression, she did not find anything.

Murong Si was calm from the second he stepped inside the room and then looked at Yu Tong who was lying on the bed, his gaze fell on Li Hanjing who stiffened for a while before offering Murong Si a placating smile. He knew that in this matter he and Yu Tong were in the wrong.

Because of Yu Tong's stubbornness, the position of official husband fell on the shoulders of Li Hanjing even though it was Murong Si who was chosen as one.

Yu Tong glanced at Murong Si who nodded without much expression to Li Hanjing and frowned. What was he doing? Why was he showing that sullen expression on his face like that?

"Brother Hanjing will be the official husband, you should know better than to show him an expression like such," Yu Tong reprimanded Murong Si. Though she knew that it wasn't his fault that he was engaged to her. Yu Tong did not have a good feeling for the Murong family.

She was aware of the things that Old Madam Murong and her daughter said to her sister when they came to meet her the last time. They not only tried to put her sister down but they also made her give a job to Murong Tai.

Usually, her sister only gave jobs to those who deserved it but with Old Madam Murong using the engagement that was made without her acknowledgement, there wasn't anything that Yu Dong could do.

Murong Si turned his head and looked at the woman who was glaring at him even though Li Hanjing was shaking his head at her. He was silently telling Yu Tong to stay quiet and not act rudely to Murong Si but Yu Tong was hell-bent on making sure that Li Hanjing's position as the official husband would be established.

"And have you forgotten how this position was given to him?" Murong Si shot back. He was not afraid of offending Yu Tong as the only person he needed to impress was Yu Dong, if she was to agree to his deal then he wouldn't have to worry about whether he was married to Yu Tong or not.

He curled his lips in a disdainful smile and remarked, "You used a low blow to snatch the position that was given to me by respect and honour. I wouldn't be acting proud of something like that. If anything I am the victim here, I don't ask for your understanding but basic respect is what I deserve."n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Yu Tong stiffened. She opened her mouth but was cut off by Murong Si again, "Don't worry, I have no interest in becoming the official husband of a woman like you."

After he was done speaking, he turned on his feet and walked out of the room leaving Yu Tong speechless.

"What does he mean to say?" Yu Tong hissed sharply after a short while. What did he mean by a woman like her? Did she do anything wrong?

Li Hanjing sighed and then slapped Yu Tong on her arm. He said to her in an angry voice, "What were you thinking, Miss Tong? No matter what Master Murong is your husband and he is right. We did snatch this position from him, he is a victim in this case. You cannot take your anger out on him, if you were to do that… then where is he supposed to take his anger out?"

Yu Tong's brows furrowed as she said, "I just wanted to make sure that he will not make trouble for you." If he had been suppressed from the beginning, Murong Si wouldn't have caused trouble for Li Hanjing.

Li Hanjing rolled his eyes and then said to Yu Tong, "Trouble? I am afraid that you are thinking too much. That mer didn't even look interested in marrying you!"

On the other side, in the Old Yu family.

"What do you mean by that?" Second Madam Yu looked at the two women in front of her. She did not think that the two of them would return after a few weeks of engagement and even demanded that she handed them the betrothal gifts. What were they thinking?

Old Madam Murong rolled her eyes and then stated coldly, "I mean it literally. I want you to return the betrothal gifts that I gave to you. I never thought that the proud and respected Second Madam Yu would actually lie to us like this." She shook her head and then stated, "You actually lied to us that you and Yu Dong were close as the two of you are relatives.

Turns out that only your daughter is close to Yu Dong while your family is not even accepted in her house."

Second Madam Yu was really upset with what Old Madam Murong said to her but she had no words to explain herself. She pursed her lips and after a short while said to Old Madam Murong, "Ah Tong is my daughter, even if we are separated in the end she would have to listen to me right? There is no way she would ignore me."

She thought that her words would ease the two women but Murong Tai and Old Madam Murong ended up laughing and that too at her face!
