Chapter 1160: Omega Candidate
It took Calidora mere moments to make an assumption based on the facts provided.
She could decipher what the message was instantly.
Flunra stated that Jessica attempted to kill Rex even though she was outclassed severely so that leads to one of the two scenarios. One is the culprit, wanting to tell Rex that he or she is coming for him, an act of personal satisfaction through telling him what is coming, before the arrival of his death.
But the method of using Jessica to try and kill Rex didn't align with the first scenario.
If someone wants to tell Rex that—there should be an aspect of seriousness in the method.
Attempting to kill Rex with Jessica conveyed impulsiveness, not seriousness.
Had the culprit really wanted to do that—he, or she would've picked a more brutal approach, the method should inherit the anger—and hatred that the culprit has such as making Jessica tell Rex, that he's going to die before killing herself under the domination influence.
Such an attempt would surely indicate that the first scenario is definitely the case.
But this situation fitted the second scenario the most.
As for the second scenario, the culprit wants to have Rex's attention but doesn't want Rex to bore killing intent toward her or him. Dominating Jessica to attack Rex, could be ignored as it was not worth mentioning—she couldn't kill Rex.
On the other hand, the fact that the culprit dominated Jessica is an entirely different thing.
He or she used that to get Rex's attention.
"I get that this culprit wanted Rex's attention, but how can you tell that it's a female?"
Flunra understands her way of thinking—but he still couldn't understand how Calidora ended up with the conclusion that the culprit was a female. Nothing from the facts—could point her in that direction.
Sneering, Calidora's deadly eyes peered into the forest, "Did you forget my condition?"
"hmm...?" Flunra raised an eyebrow, puzzled.
But his eyes seemed to traverse down to Calidora's pregnant belly.
"Call it my better intuition," Calidora continued, glancing at Flunra, with an icy gaze. If you do not believe me—go talk to Rex, and see if he finds anything about the culprit. I am quite sure that it's a female, and she's also an Omega—you're smart, Flunra, so I assume I don't have to explain to you why I think it's an Omega"
After saying that, Calidora turned and headed to the guard tower.
"Go and tell the Emperor that I'm waiting for him" She added before entering the guard tower.
Meanwhile, back to the forest.
Rex and Kyran had been chasing the figure and they were now nearing the edge of the forest already. Along the pursuit none of them managed to catch or even touch Kassandra after her last blunder.
Both tried a lot of approaches but ended up with a total failure.
Gazing ahead, Rex gritted his teeth.
Unlike earlier—Kassandra was now galloping on all fours like a true animal and showed quite an exceptional awareness, as she used the terrain, flawlessly. Leaping forward, Rex decided that he could not contest in terms of speed with his current state.
His exhausting prevents him from catching up to Kassandra through raw speed alone.
Cloaking his claws with red force, he made several cleaving slashes.
Numerous crescent-shaped waves of red force shot from his claws—toward Kassandra—but in retaliation, she used the trees' newfound durability, and took cover. Rex clicked his tongue in utter frustration.
Even his red force energy slashes weren't strong enough to cleave through the trees.
He needed more power.
I may not have been able to do it before. Now, after the great battle, I should be able to do it.
I'm confident that my ability to control energy has gotten stronger.
Deciding to go beyond his normal limit, Rex cloaked his claws with the Executor Slash kill.
He used it on top of the red force.
Using both powers simultaneously, he had done it before, but he had never tried using both powers to fire energy slashes. Controlling two different energies externally like this, without making direct contact with them is very hard.
But her reckoned that he could do it now with his current level of energy control.
"I'm not letting you get away!" Rex roared and swiped the air before him heavily.
Swoosh!
Unlike before, the energy slash he sent ahead was tainting with dark colors on top of its core red color. At the sight of this—Kassandra made a sharp left to take cover behind a tree again but this time, she was surprised when the energy slash sliced through the tree.
She was forced to stop and yank her body back forcefully, barely dodging the energy slash.
Capitalizing on this opportunity, Rex blitzed straight at her.
Enhanced with the red force—kingly energy, the pure brace of moonlight skill—and also the Flash spell, his speed was astonishing for the fact, that he was exhausted. In the blink of an eye, he reached Kassandra, shadowing her with his hulking dark stature.
"I got you now!" Rex laughed, his arm muscles were bulging with immense force.
Pulling nothing back, he swiped his claws, aiming to incapacitate her from running away.
But instead of panicking, Kassandra smirked as her lemon moonlight energy formed a bubble around her. Rex's attack, was cushioned by that bubble, and sent her crashing to the ground, seemingly unfazed by the attack.
Not stopping at that, Rex came crashing down like a meteor and struck her again.
Boom!
Rex frowned when he felt that he hit nothing but the ground.
"I don't think so..." A teasing voice suddenly penetrated his ears.
In the next second, his pupils dilated when a pair of bright amber pearls greeted him.
For a fleeting moment, Rex made eye contact with Kassandra.
Her face was an inch away from his own face, she was abnormally close to him.
On top of that, her eyes also seemed to bore directly into his soul.
He also realized that Kassandra had her mouth covered by a black diaphanous mask, teasing her appearance to those, who looked at her. Seeing the glimpse of a faint smile, daunting her face, Rex gritted and did a horizontal swipe.
Just like before, Kassandra's moonlight energy swirled around her body again.
In a sudden burst of speed, she somersaulted right above Rex's head, to avoid the horizontal swipe—not forgetting to tap Rex on his snout, "If you want to catch me, you'll have to do way better than that, Your Highness"
"Tch! Another skill? You're really a slippery one!" Rex cursed in response.
Complimenting Rex's shortcomings, Kyran came out of the shadow.
Kyran was not going to let Rex's efforts go to waste as he reappeared before Kassandra with his claws, coated with the azure icy power from his bloodline. He appeared at the exact time, as Kassandra leaped forward.
It happened in a fraction of a second.
Added to the momentum, carrying Kassandra straight to Kyran—the time for her to react and dodge the attack was even smaller. She shouldn't be able to dodge, the attack is guaranteed to hit—but that was only what Kyran thought.
Swish!
Just as the attack was about to land, Kassandra's entire form gleamed with a blinding light.
Her lemon moonlight energy glowed brighter than before.
As Kyran cleaved at her, his eyes widened seeing Kassandra turning into a yellow phantom.
She dodged the attack elegantly and gracefully with extreme speed.
Passing through Kyran's body like a ghost, she reformed behind him without forgetting to did a slap—on the back of his head, "I expected more from you, Beta—with that amount of killing intent, I can sense your attack from a mile away"
"How many movement skills does she have?!" Kyran roared angrily.
He was angered at the fact that he was being toyed—frustrations gripping him tight.
Rex didn't want to lose out—he zoomed in the air right behind Kassandra before pointing his hands up. He wanted to use his Ether Blink skill, but he was surprised, when his lightning did not respond to him, "I still can't use any of my Pneuma Spells, huh...?"
Since Devo and Amanir are only waking up recently, he can't use his spirit energy.
It was still unresponsive.
Not letting that stop him, he pointed at the sky—trying to change the weather to rain.
Rex was hoping that water could slow Kassandra down.
He has the water elements under his belt, so he didn't need to be worried about rain.
However, the weather didn't respond to him as well with the world stronger after the Second Breath. Rex thought that he could still do it—but it seemed like he could not. Having no other choice, with the edge of the forest in sight, Rex's form exploded with lightning.
"Sky Rupture Assortment!!" He roared, mana oozing out of his body like a tidal wave.
Blitz!
Crack!!
In a desperate attempt, Rex blocked the edge of the forest with hundreds of lightning strikes.
Out of instinct, Kassandra was forced to stop right beside the forest.
But Kassandra then looked over to Rex with a smirk, before preparing to go through the walls of lightning strikes, "Don't tell me, she is going to try and go through it? She shouldn't be able to, she's merely a mid-ninth-rank realm!"
His lightning prowess was at the peak, and even beyond the normal peak ninth-rank realm.
So he expected that the lightning strikes would be able to block Kassandra.
However, knowing that she had many things up her sleeves, she might be able to flee still.
Roar!!
"No, I won't let you!"
Realizing that she might be able to do it, Rex propelled himself even faster.
Giving it his all one last time, draining his stamina to the last strand, Rex dashed and reached Kassandra, with his claws—ready to tear her apart. As Rex, was about to seize her—she was halfway through, the wall of lightning strikes, "Pleased to meet you, Your Highness but I shall end our short meeting here"
As she said that, she pierced through the lightning strikes right before Rex reached her.
Kassandra, despite all odds, managed to escape the forest unharmed.
Bam!
"Damn it, she got away!" Kyran cursed upon landing beside Rex—cursing out loud.
He was toyed with and couldn't do anything to her which was frustrating.
Even though he was using his all, complimenting Rex's moves in sync—working together on an instinctive level as the two were connected, Kassandra still managed to flee. It was hard to say it but he really tried his best to catch her.
However, his best was not enough to catch her, she was too nimble and fast.
"I'm sorry, Rex. She's too much for me, I never go against someone like her," Kyran said.
Rex is crouching on the ground, unmoving from his spot.
Upon seeing this, Kyran could tell that it seemed like Rex also tried his best to catch her, and failed the same. Surely—he was also experiencing the same frustration and anger that Kyran was feeling right now.
Also, Kassandra disrespected Rex with her slippery antics, so that might sting a little.
Just then, Kyran saw Rex's shoulders moving up and down.
Gaining no response in return, Kyran walked around to check, confused, "Rex...?"
But as soon as Rex's face came to view, Kyran saw him smiling from ear to ear.
Rex was cackling to himself, he looked like he had lost his mind.
Slowly reverting back to his Human form, Rex grabbed his own face and chuckled maniacally.
He raised his gaze and peered through the thick mist ahead, that was governing the edge of the forest and the expanse beyond it. No need for him to chase after Kassandra any further, she had gone through the mist while he hadn't—so it was unlikely, that he could catch her in there.
For once, he accepted defeat as he tried his best and still couldn't catch Kassandra.
Adhara is the additional firepower that I need, Evelyn is the Luna that could strengthen us all, Gistella is our aegis for protection—Flunra is the jack of all trades who could support anyone, and Kyran is our assassin.
We have most things, but we have nobody like her.
Female Alpha, Luna, and Beta, we have all of that but we still lack one thing—an Omega.
Gazing intently ahead to where Kassandra disappeared—Rex smiled as his eyes flashed with a glint that didn't seem to be the usual glint, a mix of multiple, intentions. However—amongst all, there was an aspect of desire in his eyes as he found an Omega candidate.
"I want her..." Exclusive content from m,v lem|p,yr
His body trembled, remembering Kassandra's resilience and agility.
"I really want her!"
