The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1159: Slippery Intruder (2)

"Hooh...? I never met a Werewolf that would be so courteous with me," Rex smirked lightly.

Even when he met the Storm Prince or whoever, no one referred to him with formalities—one that befits his status as the Royal Black Prince. All of them viewed him as a fraud, a fake kind of Werewolf as he didn't come from their actual lineage and could possess a human form.

It was his first time hearing an actual Werewolf referring to him by his title.

Surprisingly, the figure bowed a little with grace in response, "A being like you could only be referred to, by your official title. Regardless of your origin, you are a Werewolf—and also the one who killed the Fifthborn"

Rex listened to the figure attentively, trying to pick up anything she unconsciously spilled.

But underneath it all, he was frowning hard.

...

...

Seeing the figure—Kassandra's stats, Rex frowned.

He knew that she was tricky, he could tell that almost instantly before scanning her.

Unlike the mid-ninth-rank realm before the Second Breath, her stats were extremely high.

It was as if she was a peak-ninth-rank realm prior to the Second Breath.

Additionally—Rex was also confused, as to what the words beside her race meant, Rex had never seen something like that. But he had no time to ask the System, he needs to keep his alert high against Kassandra.

For worse, she didn't seem to be troubled by the situation she was in—caught red-handed in trespassing their territory and observing Rex—cornered by both Rex and Kyran and also now aware that Rex could command multiple energies.

Anyone in her shoes would be panicking as she was caught by Rex, the strongest of the era.

However, that was not the case for her.

It was almost like she came here to sight-see—fearing no threat of being caught at all.

Keeping his power channeled in case Kassandra tried to escape right now, Rex voiced out his one question—in mind. Even though it should be obvious he decided to ask, "Are you the one who dominated Jessica?"

"If you mean that weird-looking Human, then yes," Kassandra replied, being truthful.

Finding something funny, she giggled lightly and continued, "I wanted to escort her back and quickly made my leave—but your energy and presence are very... hard to resist. I am curious, about the Werewolf who did the impossible. Now, here we are, face to face,"

Ignoring her antics, Rex asked again, "What message are you trying to convey to me?"

Even though he knew that Jessica was a message for him from Kassandra—he did not know, what the message was, and wanted to gouge it out of her mouth. However, he knew that she was not here to kill him or declare war on him.

If she did, then the System would undoubtedly initiate a killing intent quest.

Had that appeared, Rex would've plotted to kill her right now.

So, the fact that there was no killing intent quest showed Kassandra didn't come for that.

But, to make sure, Rex decided to ask the System.

A killing intent quest would appear if someone wanted to kill me, based on your biased view of judgment of course—and a sudden quest would appear, if someone wanted to kill, any of my pack members, right?

<Quest initiation is a sophisticated process, but in this case, yes>

Upon hearing this, Rex nodded in affirmation.

From the System's answer—he ruled out the possibility that Kassandra may not harbor killing intent toward him, but toward the others instead. But, as opposed to answering his question, Kassandra asked back curiously, "Don't you want to know why I'm confident that you can not catch me? Even though you are probably stronger than me?"

"If you are eager to explain it, then explain," Rex raised an eyebrow.

He could tell that Kassandra wanted to tell him the reason.

In response, she smirked and added, "It's because you are not being true to yourself"

Rex became even more confused after hearing her answer.

Seems like Kassandra likes to play mind games, being indirect, one of the troublesome ones.

Before Rex could respond to that Kassandra suddenly darted to the right, heading straight to—the edge of the Humming Damned Forest. She was aiming to escape, but Kyran, was ready for this as he also moved at the exact time Kassandra moved.

Also responding as fast, Rex chased after them, activating his King Mark again.

Despite his fatigue, he forced himself to keep going.

Swoosh!

Just like that, three streaks of light blitzed through the forest.

At the very front was the yellow streak of light being chased by the blue and red closely.

Realizing that Kassandra was extremely fast—Kyran swiftly channeled his power and infused the ground with it—summoning three sharp dark blue icicles aimed to impale her. But, with a relative ease, Kassandra swiped her claws and shattered them.

Seeing this, Kyran's eyebrows dipped into a frown, "She's on par with Brigitta, or stronger"

Only a handful could deflect his power that easily.

Recovering from the surprise, Kyran manipulated his moonlight energy into his legs before he sped up, covering the distance between him, and Kassandra in a split second. Kyran reached out his claws when he was near, trying to catch Kassandra's cloak, and yanked her back.

But when his claws were an inch away, his mind was assaulted by pain.

It stunned him for a brief second.

As Kyran refocused back on Kassandra, his brow furrowed in confusion.

Unlike earlier—before him stood not one, but three identical figures—causing him to question which to pursue. Caught in hesitation, Kassandra took advantage, slipping away from Kyran's grasp as he struggled to discern the real one from the illusions.

Pausing briefly, he shook his head vigorously, trying to recover from the mental attack.

Meanwhile, Rex watched this whole ordeal from the back.

<Notice: the user is being assaulted by a mental attack!>

<Golden Imperium Fingerarms' ability, Imperial Mental Ward has been activated!>

<All mental attacks targeting the user have been nullified!>

A Werewolf using a mental attack. I didn't even see her casting anything—the mental attack, came out of nowhere. Is it a presence-based ability—like my Alpha Bearing skill? Just who is this Werewolf, really?

Rex was completely at a loss as to who this Werewolf was.

He knew that she must be from the ancient era, but she seemed to be a bizarre Werewolf.

Possessing a strength that could easily parry Kyran's attacks, and even having the equivalent of speed, as him right now was a feat, exclusive to the strong. However—as Rex scanned her earlier, she was merely in the mid-ninth-rank realm.

Abnormally strong for a mid-ninth-rank realm, but that was beside the point.

Someone of that caliber shouldn't pose trouble for Rex who was beyond that.

Moreover, she didn't seem to use any King Mark.

Only Werewolves who managed to achieve the first ascension—could reach the ninth-rank realm, so the fact that Kassandra didn't use her King Mark, leads to two possibilities: either she didn't have one or she didn't think she would need to use it.

No mythical presence either, she's not a Princess.

Realizing that Kassandra might be taking light of him, Rex's form blazed with power.

In the blink of an eye, Rex reached Kassandra and made a heavy swipe from above—casting his Executor Slash skill. He had to be careful with the skills he was using—as he was already extremely near his limit.

Bam!

Crash!

Landing a hit solidly to the back, Kassandra was slammed onto the ground, webbing a crack.

However, Rex frowned as it felt like he was hitting a wall.

Even though he already expected that Kassandra's body, was sturdy—judging from her high, endurance stat, he didn't expect that it would reach this extent. It felt like he was swinging at a rock with a dull sword.

I need to at least see her face.

Just before he could pull down the cloak, her moonlight energy infiltrated his arm.

In the next second, he groaned—his senses were assaulted.

<Notice: the user is influenced by the Sense Anarchy Moon Ability>

She also could use Moon Ability?!

Rex gritted his teeth—as every single one of his senses was overloaded with sensations that made it hard for him, to move, and discern reality. He could hear leaves swaying by the wind, see things clearly, and smell the earthy scent of the forest, but anything about Kassandra, all things related to her fading

Amidst everything, only Kassandra's presence could not be detected which was very odd.

Even then, Rex made another strike at where Kassandra was before using his instincts.

Crash!

Surprised by his speed, Kassandra was struck again before she could get up and flee.

However, she used a skill that enveloped her arms with moonlight energy.

Bang!

Instead of the force slamming Kassandra into the ground again—it was reflected back at Rex in a pushing force instead, sending him screeching back for a solid thirty meters. He came to a halt before he gathered his kingly energy to overpower the Moon Ability.

Only then that he break free from the influence and see that Kassandra was already far.

"She's slippery, but don't think you managed to shake me off yet!"

Not wasting a single precious second, Rex continued his chase, unwilling to be beaten.

Meanwhile, Adhara and Flunra were rooted in their spots.

But the two already made a connection, as to what they were discussing before—and what Rex was doing suddenly sprinting like that. He must be trying to see whether the infiltrator, was still around.

Flunra turned to look over his shoulder, hearing someone calling him.

"Adhara, are you going to wait for Rex?" He asked.

Upon hearing this, Adhara shook her head, "No, it's too dangerous. Let's go back"

Just like that, the two headed back to the city—not forgetting to bring Jessica with them.

As soon as they neared the city, Flunra's eyes locked onto a figure on top of the city walls, it was Calidora, who was wearing a serious expression. It was also she who called for him, her whisper was loud in Flunra's ears.

"Pardon me," Flunra muttered, excusing himself from Adhara and jumping to the wall.

Landing beside Calidora, he asked, "Did you call for me, Princess?"

"Hmm..." She nodded. "What's going on there? I sensed Rex's energy going rampant"

Gazing at the direction Calidora pointed at, Flunra nodded and explained, "The Alpha earlier defeated a tenth-rank realm mutated animal that was breaking through. Now, he was trying to find an infiltrator that dominated that woman down there to try to kill him,"

Calidora looked down and found Jessica who Adhara was carrying.

A frown appeared on her face, as she realized that Jessica was not anywhere near, as strong as Rex, so it was weird for this supposed infiltrator to send her to kill Rex. However unlike the others, Calidora instantly deciphered the message as her expression soured.

"Did you realize something, Princess?" Flunra asked, seeing the change in her expression.

If she realized something then he needs to know.

Upon hearing this, Calidora's vampiric eyes gleamed sinisterly.

Her periorbital veins around her eyes were dyed crimson as she seemed to be furious.

Looking at the far distance, she spoke with a hint of certainty, "It's a message—this infiltrator wanted to make sure, Rex knew of their existence—an introduction of some sort to Rex—and something tells me that this infiltrator is a female"

"How did you come up with that?" Flunra asked again, surprised by her conclusion.

It was not only insightful but also concise.

Calidora laid her slender hand above her stomach—killing intent could be seen flashing in her eyes, "Attempt to kill would undoubtedly pull Rex's unwavering attention to her, it's like a lady dropping her handkerchief to lure a man to approach her,"

"She wanted and is trying to get to know Rex..." She added with an icy cold tone.
