Chapter 160: Chapter 161: The Hunt Begins
The plane ride to Prague was tense. Alyssa stared out the window as the city lights came into view, her mind running over every detail of the mission. They had one shot to intercept the deal and finally gain the upper hand against Volkov. There was no room for error.
Marcus briefed the team one last time as the plane began its descent. "Our target is a warehouse on the outskirts of the city. It's heavily guarded, but we'll go in quiet, neutralize the sentries, and secure the arms dealer. Once we have him, we'll extract whatever intel we can about Volkov's operation."
Alyssa and Eleanor exchanged a glance, both of them silently preparing for the mission ahead. They had faced worse odds before, but something about this felt different. Volkov had been playing the long game, and they were finally getting close to the heart of it.
As they touched down, the team quickly moved into action. Dressed in tactical gear, they blended into the shadows, moving through the deserted streets toward the warehouse. The cold Prague night was eerily quiet, the only sound being the crunch of their boots on the cobblestone.
The warehouse loomed ahead, its lights dim and flickering. Marcus signaled for the team to halt, scanning the area with a pair of binoculars. "Sentries at the entrance and on the roof. We'll need to take them out quietly."
Alyssa nodded, her eyes narrowing as she studied the guards. "I'll take the ones on the roof."
Eleanor smirked. "And I'll handle the ones at the door."
They moved like ghosts, slipping through the dark without a sound. Alyssa climbed a fire escape, her silenced pistol ready. She crept up behind the rooftop guards, dispatching them with swift precision. Meanwhile, Eleanor neutralized the sentries at the entrance with equal efficiency. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Within minutes, the team was inside the warehouse, moving between the rows of crates. The sound of voices echoed from deeper inside, and they followed the noise, keeping low and out of sight.
As they approached the center of the warehouse, they saw him the arms dealer, a hulking man with a thick Russian accent, speaking to several men in suits. Weapons of all kinds were displayed on the tables around them, the magnitude of the deal becoming clear.
Alyssa felt her pulse quicken. "We've got him. Now we just need to"
Before she could finish, the lights flickered, then went out entirely. Darkness swallowed the room, and the sound of guns being cocked echoed through the warehouse.
Marcus cursed under his breath. "They know we're here."
Suddenly, the room was illuminated by a harsh spotlight. The arms dealer and his men had disappeared, replaced by a dozen heavily armed guards. And standing in the center, grinning like a predator, was Volkov.
"You didn't think I'd make it that easy for you, did you?" Volkov's voice was cold, mocking.
Alyssa's heart sank. It had been a trap all along.
What do you think?
