Chapter 124 Informing His Trusted Subordinates About The Zombie Virus
The next day, Arlan summoned his most trusted subordinates to his study. There were only three of them, Karl, Winter, and Khalon.
Karl yawned before he asked in a tired voice. "Boss, why did you call all three of us here?" He had just woken up from sleep when a maid told him that Arlan was looking for him.
Arlan didn't know how to start. He took a deep breath before he started to speak. "As you may all know, Leandro Manzano is our enemy. We have been at odds with his drug cartel since a month ago and our conflict intensified after the death of Diego..."
Karl and the other two nodded their heads upon hearing this.
"However... there is another matter that we have to be careful of... An ancient civilization is hiding in our planet and they would soon spread a zombie virus." Arlan muttered in a grave tone.
Karl couldn't believe his ears. "Boss, you're just kidding, right?" He scratched the back of his head while looking at Khalon and Winter to see their reactions. However, the both of them remained calm despite Arlan's unbelievable words.
Arlan shook his head and sighed. "I also wish that this isn't true, but everything I said is real. I don't know when the exact time they would spread the virus or where it will start."
"No wonder you've invested a lot of money in the production of weapons and aircraft." Winter muttered in a calm voice.
"What do you want us to do, boss?" Khalon muttered in a deep voice.
Arlan leaned on his chair with furrowed eyebrows. "Khalon, I want you to inform Rear Admiral Fuliand about this. Also, tell him to reinforce the Shark Reef Islands. Other than the De Guzman Family's workers, no one else can go within that area."
Khalon nodded his head. "Yes, boss!"
Arlan turned his gaze to Winter and said. "Winter, your job is already done. We will use the virtual capsules to train our soldiers. Arrange someone to oversee the soldiers' training."
Winter nodded her head expressionlessly.
"Boss, what about me?" Karl pointed at himself while looking at Arlan eagerly.
Arlan glanced at him and grinned. "You will be coming with me to the arms corporation. Someone from the army will be there so we have to greet our guests."
Karl was surprised to hear this. He knew that his boss had been mass-producing weapons lately. Once the army learns about this, those guys would certainly treat them as rebels. He was a bit nervous knowing that he would soon face his former leaders.
"We can't let them stop our production." Arlan muttered.
Suddenly, Khalon suggested. "Why don't we stop the virus from spreading? If we can pinpoint the source of the virus, we might be able to stop it."
Arlan's eyes widened upon hearing this. He hasn't thought of this idea. "Is there any way for us to track the source of the virus? We don't even know what that ancient civilization looks like. Even if we can pinpoint the location, can we stop it in time?"
Winter shook her head coldly. "How could an ancient civilization that managed to hide itself from the eyes of the public be so careless to leave a trace? Since they could hide from the humans, there is a high possibility that their technology is more advanced. There is no way for us to stop the virus from spreading. The only thing we could do is ensure the safety of the world's most talented medical experts and scientists. We will provide them with the resources they need to come up of a way to destroy the virus. To enforce this plan, we need to mobilize a lot of manpower and money. We may even need the help of the government and the army since they could influence the people."
Arlan scrunched up his eyebrows at her words. Winter's words were very logical. This also made him fearful of the ancient civilization that was hiding on their planet. "I have already allied with the De Guzman Family and the Montefalco Family. They are the most influential real estate moguls in the country. With their help, we might be able to gather more people to speed up our preparations."
"If you want to save a small number of people, that should be enough. Don't even think about protecting the entire country because that is impossible." Winter added.
Arlan nodded his head. "I know. I just want to ensure the safety of our people when the time comes. I hope that guys will help me make this possible."
Their meeting ended after that.
Winter and Khalon left to do their tasks, while Karl drove Arlan to the Pegasus Hotel.
Arlan wanted to bring Krizia with him. The girl was very capable and it would be a pity not to use her talents and skills in this situation.
When they arrived at the hotel, Krizia came to greet them with the top management of the hotel.
"Greetings, Mr. Roa!" She smiled at Arlan.
"You look more beautiful, Miss Krizia." Arlan complimented her.
Krizia chuckled at his words. "Let me escort you inside, Mr. Roa. Can you tell me why you graced us with your presence today?"
Arlan's expression turned serious as he looked at her. "I want to speak with you privately."
Seeing his solemn look, Krizia nodded her head. "Alright. I'll take you to my office." She wondered what Arlan would like to talk about, but from the way he spoke, the matter should be very important.
Krizia sent away the irrelevant people as she took Arlan and Karl to her office.
"Please take your seat, Mr. Roa." Krizia muttered.
Arlan didn't stand on ceremony. He took his seat while Karl stood behind him.
Krizia was already familiar with Karl since she had seen this person with Arlan a couple of times before. "Mr. Roa, what do you want to tell me?"
"I want you to stop being the General Manager of Pegasus Hotel." Arlan muttered.
