Chapter 173: Chapter 173 – Floor Is Lava [1]

All preparations were finished beforehand. The base game they talked about had already been installed in their VR capsules.

One game named Floor Is Lava (temporary) was in the library. There was no other game besides that, as the VR capsule was only used for entering this Lobby and specialized for the Biozone Monthly Segment.

The three of them entered the game. Max appeared first, as he was the first to press play. He appeared on top of a volcanic mountain, on a platform that was safe from the lava on the ground. The platforms extended to the mountain's base, with stairs and moving obstacles on the way.

While it was night, the fire that spewed out from left and right of the platform lit the area.

The path reminded him of a mountain bike trail. At the same time, it also excited him because it was similar to the world's largest parkour course in Tianmen Mountain, China, in his past life.

'It's really similar, save the moving obstacles. But… Are the players supposed to run together on one platform?'

As he thought that, Flexy and Evelyn appeared beside him. They wore similar clothing as he wore when he entered this game: a black bodysuit with glowing lines around their bodies, gloves, and shoes. The colors of the lines were different. It was blue for him, orange for Flexy, and white for Evelyn.

"Oooh!"

When they were fully immersed and regained their sight, Evelyn exclaimed in surprise.

"We're on a volcanic mountain! Woah, the lava is spewing out from the ground. It's scary but beautiful!"

— This is still a test game?

— Holy shi, the scenery is pretty cool!

— For an alpha stage game, this is beautiful

— The developer isn't playing around in this game!

— I will put this game on a wishlist! But the name sucks!

— Floor Is Lava lol, it's not creative at all

The chat expressed their amazement over the game's quality and their disappointment for the game's name.

Max had to agree with them. The name was just not creative!

Still, the game itself had potential. He looked at Evelyn and asked.

"Miss Evelyn, can you please explain the rules of this game to us? Right now, I am pretty clueless."

"Of course! That's my job here." She answered energetically, looking at the camera. "This game is based on a movement game. First of all is the winning condition, which is pretty simple. Whoever reaches the base first wins the game. Also, there is a special rule that this game has on top of how to win."

Evelyn paused slightly to get the viewers' attention. Then, she continued.

"The participants… Or rather, the players could do anything as long as they reach the finish. Meaning, you can push your competitors!"

That got Max's full attention. He looked at Evelyn, who smiled widely, with wide eyes.

'Can we push our competitors down?' He thought as he looked at Flexy. His friend also looked back at him with a grin.

Without them speaking to each other, both had the same idea flash in their minds.

Grinning back, he raised his chin slightly to provoke Flexy.

'You're on!' He shouted in his mind.

Meanwhile, Evelyn still continued explaining the game rules that were written on the small screen in her hand.

"There would be many 'buffs' that appeared along the course in the form of a glowing ball. If the player touches them, they will get whatever buff it is. A red ball is an extra strength. You can push your opponent harder after getting this buff. A green ball is extra speed. And a blue ball is a shield!

"This shield allows you to block your opponent's push one time. There is also a yellow ball. If you touch this ball, a bolt of lightning will strike a random player. There is a chance you will get struck yourself, so be careful!"

In short, the balls could change the game's course. The buff would be important in this game, especially the green ball. Then, the yellow ball was an enigma. Unless one was desperate or a troll, no one should touch the ball. The random chance was just too risky to take.

'Well, it will be fun to see who gets struck by lightning.'

Flexy approached him as he thought that. The orange-haired streamer had a large grin on his face as he stopped next to him.

"What do you think? You want to make it fun by turning this into a race with a bet in line?" He asked.

Hearing the challenge from his bet, Max raised his brows.

"What's the bet?"

Not once would he skip on the challenge unless it was one that didn't make any sense. Besides, he was confident he had the advantage here. It was a fool of Flexy for challenging him while knowing the fact he couldn't beat him.

Still, hearing his friend's confidence, Max didn't lower his guard and took it seriously.

"It's better to be nothing hard and just for fun," Flexy responded, raising his index finger. "How about the loser acting like a cat and can only meow for the rest of the podcast?" He proposed.

That was stupid. Or so he wanted to say before someone suddenly shouted.

"That's a great idea!"

Evelyn chirped in between them with sparkling eyes. As a professional host, it was natural for her to pay attention to her surroundings. And when she heard about something interesting, she had to make it more exciting. It was her job.

"A bet between the streamers. The loser will act like a cat for the rest of the podcast. How do you like it, everyone? Do you think it is interesting? I also have cat ears for accessories in my inventory!"

— I want to see them in cat ears!

— Breeze cat? How precious!

— I said why not?

— Hahaha, Flexy will meow all the time now!

— Knowing Flexy and Breeze, I'd say the latter will win this one.

— Your arrogance will bite you back, Flexy!

Reading the chat from the corner of his eyes, Max knew that he couldn't refuse this. Everyone looked excited to see this bet.

Besides, it was on the line of what they planned to do at the start—having fun in the podcast. However… He wouldn't want to go down by himself.

"Fine. We will do the race and the bet." He answered with a confident smile. Then, he turned to Evelyn. "Also...I believe Miss Evelyn will also join this challenge. As you said before, you're also joining this game, right?"

"Eh?"

"That's a matter of course." Flexy nodded, turning to the beautiful host. "And, of course, the loser will act like a cat. That will include you too, Miss Evelyn."

"Huh? W-Wait, I can't do that. I am the host–"

"What do you think, everyone?" Max interrupted her and asked the chat and the viewers in the stadium. "Do you want to watch Miss Evelyn join our little bet?"

— Mommy Evelyn in cat ears?!!

— BREEZE, YOU DA MAN!

— HE'S THE MAN!

— My respect for you grows, Breeze... I will donate 50,000 diamonds if you are able to make Mommy Evelyn lose.

— CAT Evelyn… I can't. I want to see it!

— JOIN JOIN JOIN!

— JOIN!

— You must join, Evelyn!

— Yes, she can join!

The chat began to chant 'join' at the same time. They apparently wouldn't take no.

Max looked at the beautiful host and smirked. "Heh."

Evelyn grounded her teeth. To think that someone like her would fall into such a trap. She wanted to make this interesting, but she got roped into it.

Right now, the two streamers in front of her looked like laughing monsters. Their figures literally screamed that they were her nemesis. She felt like she could see devil horns on their heads.

She looked at the screen that showed the production crew asking for help. But Johnson only raised his thumb, allowing her to join the bet. He conjured a hologram screen with words, 'Good going. The viewers love it,' in front of him.

'Both of them must've had planned this!' She screamed in her mind after realizing no one could help her. 'I will ask for extra pay. Ugh… To think that I would be trapped… It's not like me at all.'

Of course, she didn't know that Max only wanted to pull her in because he didn't want to take a risk against the crafty Flexy. Besides, he didn't want to let her go after she proceeded with the bet without waiting for his answer first.

'This is going good.' He chuckled evilly. 'I can 100% guarantee my win now.'
