Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog

Chapter 197 Grandma's Onions: The Only Supplement You Need

Kai could predict Guri's movements.

Guri could predict Kai's movements.

They were both unpredictable.

So, how else should Kai counter this but to be as orthodox as possible?

It was the most unexpected from him, and it seemed like Guri also couldn't catch on.

With this, Kai was practically humiliating Guri with the plays initiated by him and Yuze.

Kai threw the ball into the air, and Yuze dunked it, finally having the opportunity to accomplish the failed alley-oop with Kun a while back.

38-36

Riley walked over to where Guri was and strongly patted his back.

"What's going on?" he asked. "I thought you were the best first-year player in the entire country?" he teased.

To make matters worse, Dafu also went to where they were and teased Guri further.

"How could he be the best first-year player? He doesn't even know how to acknowledge his fouls," Dafu said.

Guri clenched his fist in frustration, his gaze focused on Kai.

He wondered what was so special about him—especially since he became viral in the high school basketball scene.

Guri, too, was an unexpected player! However, he didn't run into such ridiculous situations as Kai.

Guri tried to reach for the ball once more, but Kai dribbled it, making him lose the mark by a couple of centimeters.

Then, Kai stepped back, allowing himself to shoot from the free-throw line.

38-38.

"Yes!" Kai exclaimed, seeing that he had already tied the game.

Then, Dylan blew the whistle, signaling the end of the first half.

"I'll allow you a five-minute break," he professionally said, enjoying how he had control over such talented players.

The two teams dispersed and went to their respective benches to quench their thirsts and talk about the first half of the game.

"Do you think this makes sense?" Riley exclaimed. "Why are we tied right now?"

Dafu scratched the back of his head. "I don't know, man. I was confident that we were going to win, but they're actually pretty good."

Riley sighed in frustration. "Nah, they're really good. That Yuze guy is no joke."

The players continued talking about Yuze; however, Fenhua couldn't stop himself from thinking of another particular player.

He was always weak against a certain type of player—the unpredictable ones.

They were the type of people wherein you couldn't really predict their next moves.

Guri was one of those players. However, sometimes, he could be too hotheaded to the point that he loses his original objectives.

However, aside from Guri, there was another member of their team that had such unpredictable tendencies.

"Maybe if Cal—"

"I hate this!" Guri exclaimed, cutting Riley's statement short. "Why is that bastard so unpredictable?"

Dafu chuckled and went behind Guri to pat his back. "Now, you know how we feel about your playing style."

Guri clicked his tongue. "I'm still the best first-year player in the entire country, though!"n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Fenhua smirked. "You still have a single-digit score." Experience new tales on empire

Guri sulked his head against the railings. "I'm just giving that guy a chance. Later, I'll make sure to control him."

"With what? Your strength?" Riley joked. However, Guri smirked, causing the older player to shake his head.

"Goodness, I don't want to witness this. Don't hurt him, alright?"

Meanwhile, excitement was evident in the Shizi Dogs' bench.

"We're actually playing against the Longyu Dragons," Kun said, his voice a bit shaky from nervousness.

"Yeah, I can't believe it," Jet said.

Zeren slumped on the bench as soon as he arrived, placing his water bottle inside his mouth like a baby sucking on their mother's nipples.

"I'm beat," he said. "Jinping—you go and play for the second half."

Lina whipped out her pad and wrote it down.

"Another weakness," she said, causing Zeren to look at her with wide eyes.

"Weakness? What weakness are you talking about?" he frantically asked.

Lina ignored him and faced the other players instead.

"Good job, guys. Who knew that we would be playing against the Longyu Dragons? The opportunity just landed straight onto our hands."

Kun scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, and we're on a tie right now. Although that guy isn't here, I think we're still doing a good job."

"Of course we are," Lina said. "However, you guys still have a lot to improve on."

Just then, Shang spoke. "Are we guys just going to ignore the fact that Kai has scored 16 points in this game?"

The team turned to Kai, who was casually drinking some water.

He raised his eyebrows when he felt their gazes on him.

Lina couldn't believe her ears. She was so focused on writing down their weaknesses that she forgot to keep track of the scores.

"How many did Yuze get?"Jet asked.

"9," Shang said, making their eyes go even wider.

Jinping frowned. He also kept track of the game, and as much as he wanted to deny it, Kai had scored the most in their entire team.

Even Zeren, their resident scorer, didn't do as well.

"What happened?" Shang asked. "I swear—you did something different."

Kai chuckled. "What could I have done so differently? I just exercised and did some shooting drills. There's nothing too special about it."

Jet narrowed his eyes. "If this is some kind of medication, please tell me where you bought it."

Kai shook his head. "Does my grandma's onions count?"

Jet and Shang turned to each other in surprise. "Is that an innuendo for something?" Jet whispered.

Zeren clicked his tongue. "Is that a code word for some kind of shrooms?"

Yuze, too, couldn't believe him, so he also questioned Kai.

Their captain went over to Kai and placed his hand over his shoulder.

"What did you do?" he asked.

Kai sighed. He searched his mind for what he could have done, but nothing really came to mind.

Aside from his workout routine, he really didn't do anything special.

However, since they were so curious, Kai felt like he needed to share his workout routine.

The Shizi Dogs waited for Kai's reply, some even holding their breaths as if it was some long-kept secret.

"Well, a hundred—"

Just then, Dylan's loud whistle was heard in the court.

Kai smiled and stretched his arms.

"Well, let's resume the game. I'll still be playing, right?"
