Chapter 41 Breakthrough, departure of the monkey.
---
Void could feel it—the world was aggrieved by the death of the Buddha. It was as if a body had lost its soul. He saw four demons surround the soul, and within a second, it vanished.
Void knew someone must have taken it. Either they shared it, which was unlikely, or they fought in that split second, and the victor swallowed or kept the soul.
"Sun Wukong, let's get ready to leave," Void said, turning to the monkey still perched in his palm.
"Heheh," the monkey laughed, sitting cross-legged. Void looked up, savoring the scenery of the world. After all, once he and the rank 2 demon left, this world would be destroyed. The beauty of an immortal world couldn't compare to that of a knight's world or even an urban one.
Each world had a unique scenery that could capture the heart and resonate with a being's soul. After a few moments of silent appreciation, Void turned and walked toward the portal, the monkey still in his palm.
***At the Abyss***
A 32-meter-tall demon appeared with an outstretched palm, holding a monkey, while his right hand gripped a giant sword. The massive portal behind him slowly closed.
Sun Wukong stood up on Void's palm and jumped down. Gravity hit him first, but he quickly adapted. Then came the fire, making him frown momentarily, but his body had changed. Now, as a primordial demon, the unbearable heat soon felt like a cool breeze.
"Hehehe... this place is different," Sun Wukong muttered. His limited vocabulary prevented him from fully describing it.
"Here, we have demons and Aeron. Before we move on, I need to explain the Abyss to you. You see, the Abyss..." Void began, explaining everything Sun Wukong needed to know. The stubborn monkey sat and listened attentively—at least, that's what it seemed like.
After a few minutes, Void finished and looked at Sun Wukong, who was smiling and eager to explore. Void sighed, doubting whether the monkey had absorbed any of the information.
"So, what you're saying is, as long as I don't seek unnecessary trouble, I'll be fine?" Sun Wukong asked, his expression eager. He was already looking for a fight.
"Hey, wait. This is the Third Abyss, remember? You don't fight here. You need to travel to other worlds for that," Void warned as Sun Wukong eyed a nearby Aeron, ready to brawl. Demons couldn't fight Aeron here because of the Abyss rules—demons far outnumbered Aeron, and as a result, Aeron were allowed to fight each other, but demons couldn't even kill themselves here.
Sun Wukong would be breaking rank 5 rules and could be extinguished in an instant.
"So, how will I get stronger without devouring souls?" Sun Wukong scratched his head in confusion.
"You'll find out soon," Void replied just as Sun Wukong's mind went blank, and an immense amount of information flooded in. The Abyss had accepted him, marking him with the Ouroboros mark. Now, he was a full-fledged demon.
"Void... I'll see you some other time. I want to explore the abyss and fight stronger beings ," Sun Wukong said, thumping his chest before raising his golden staff.
Void felt a pang of nostalgia. A certain ape in an anime had that same unruly, warlike aura. Arrogant and unrestrained.
Void sighed again. This was partly why he hadn't forced a slave contract on Sun Wukong. The monkey would never have accepted it, and even if Void had tricked him, Sun Wukong might have chosen to commit suicide. Everyone knew how much Sun Wukong hated bowing to anyone.
"Well, I hope to see you again, Sun Wukong," Void said with a grin. The other reason for avoiding the contract was that Void was curious to see how far Sun Wukong could go now that he was a primordial demon and truly free.
"Hehehe... you're a good friend. My master and the others are dead. The monkey tribe..." Sun Wukong's eyes teared up. His tribe was gone. "I used to think I was immortal—erasing my name from the Book of Life and Death, drinking wine, eating all the peaches—but you've made it clear that it was just a fantasy for a weak creature.
And for that..." Sun Wukong paused, turning to face north.
His small back was to Void, but in that moment, the scene shifted. His back seemed as large as a mountain, his will as hard as diamond. He stood tall, staff slung across his shoulders.
"Well, now I finally get to write my own journey. I'm free—free from the shackles of life and death, tribe, feelings, Buddha, the heavens..." Sun Wukong's face clouded briefly before a rare smile appeared.
"Heheh, after all, we are demons. We have no heart. I'll let the whole multiverse hear the name 'SUN WUKONG,'" the stone monkey declared, turning to look one last time at the 30-meter-tall demon. He took a long, deliberate look, engraving Void's figure in his memory before leaping away.
Sun Wukong disappeared, and a shockwave rippled from his departure, creating a large crater. Void was caught in the dust and shockwave but remained unaffected. He watched the stone monkey vanish into the distance, each stride covering hundreds of thousands of kilometers.
"We will meet again, Sun Wukong," Void thought. Despite the strange and short conversation, the two of them understood each other well.
Void felt something tug at his heart. He had no doubt that Sun Wukong's words would come to pass. The multiverse would indeed know his name—this time, for his real power.
---
"Well, now that the strange conversation is over, I should break through. System, begin the breakthrough," Void said with a smile, sitting down. Knowing that demons didn't fight in the Third Abyss, it was the perfect place for him to advance.
After all, for a rank 1 demon capable of destroying planets, there wasn't much difference between being underground or sitting atop a mountain.
(Ding, breakthrough started)
Void heard the system's voice as a warm surge of energy filled him. "Comfortable..." he murmured, closing his eyes. Slowly, his body began to rebuild itself as his mind instinctively absorbed the knowledge of the fire element. His massive form started to grow once more.
**An hour later...**
A massive 48-meter-tall demon emerged from the abyss. Void's body had become leaner, but his muscles still bulged with raw power. His red eyes now held a crimson hue, and his horns had elongated, forming a crown-like shape atop his head. The rough black scales that once covered his body were now smooth, fitting tightly like a second skin. His tail had grown longer, adorned with spikes and tiny thorns.
His feet, now with five human-like toes, were tipped with sharp, long claws, betraying his monstrous nature. Four fangs protruded from his mouth, flanked by two smaller ones. His teeth had sharpened and lengthened, and his jawline had become more defined—sharp enough to rival even the finest of male models.
His ears were now pointed like an elf's, and at the center of his chest was the outline of a burning, shapeless symbol.
*(Host, what symbol would you like on your chest?)*
"Huh? What are you talking about?" Void asked, confused. His body felt different—stronger. After all, he was now a quasi-rank 2 demon.
*(Host, your body requires a symbol on your chest. What would you like it to be, or should it be chosen at random?)*
"Really? Alright, let me think. Should I pick something like an eye, like the Illuminati? No, that's too cliché. What about a... no, that's lame." Void paused, amused by his thoughts.
"Maybe a car symbol... yeah, the Autobot symbol!" he chuckled, but quickly grew serious. After all, this symbol might remain with him for eternity.
"System, does this have any significance? Why am I the only one getting a symbol?" Void asked, his tone more thoughtful.
*(Host, you are the son of the Abyss. This symbol represents that.)*
"I see... well, system, I want infinite strength. Let's use the infinity symbol." Void grinned. It was simple yet fitting.
*(Ding)*
Void felt a burning sensation as the symbol was etched into his chest—a glowing infinity symbol, radiating power.
"Nice," Void commented, admiring the mark. "Now that I'm a quasi-rank 2 demon, I should probably check on that slave of mine," he said with a smirk. He could sense Linkir's location, but it was far from his current position. "Did she escape? Or did something pull her there? Another Aeron?" Void pondered as he lifted himself into the air.
With a powerful leap, Void ascended millions of kilometers above the ground. From this vantage point, he could see the vast expanse of land below him, though compared to what lay beyond the horizon, it seemed insignificant. The Third Abyss was undoubtedly as large as a universe.
Void unfurled his wings, revealing a wingspan of nearly 100 meters. He noticed something that caught him off guard—his right and left wings each bore half of the infinity symbol, and when spread out, the symbol gleamed, becoming whole.
"Interesting," Void mused, inspecting his body as he flew toward Linkir's location.
---
**Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Abyss...**
A stone monkey stood at the edge of a river of magma, curiously reaching out toward the bubbling liquid.
*Ssshhh...*
The magma sizzled as his hand touched it, but it caused no harm. Sun Wukong laughed and leaped into the fiery river, his expression ecstatic. Unbeknownst to him, the magma's current led to a hidden portal, and in an instant, he disappeared into it.
---
**At a Rank 2 Castle...**
In a dimly lit room, Junnie knelt before a black plate, her voice calm as she spoke.
"That's all I know for now, my lord," she reported to a shadowy figure on the plate.
"Interesting... what an intriguing realm. Gather more information about their powerhouses. I sense something is missing. Be quick, I can cover for you for only so long before the Abyss catches on. After that, your fate will be out of my hands." The voice on the other end was deep and commanding, the plate glowing before the connection cut off.
"Yes, master," Junnie responded, standing up. She traced a line in the air, creating a small rift in space, and slipped the black plate inside, sealing it away in her personal pocket dimension—a privilege only Rank 2 demons had.
"Now, where was I?" Junnie murmured to herself, her hips swaying as she paced the room.
---
**Upstairs...**
Linkir was standing , her body tied up, her face flushed with a mixture of shame and exhaustion. Her breathing was heavy and uneven.
"I never thought Junnie would do that to me... or that Rank 1 demons or Aerons would be so eager to mate." Linkir's thoughts raced as she struggled to regain control of her body, her legs trembling and weak.
"No one can see me like this," she thought, her cheeks burning with embarrassment as the memories of the previous moments replayed in her mind.
---
**In Space...**
A shattered marble floated amidst the cosmic void. It was no ordinary marble—it was a destroyed universe. The corpses of enormous beings drifted through the remnants, and at the edge of this broken cosmos stood a figure.
It was a titan—an incredibly rare race, its massive body towering over the wreckage.
"On to the next one," the titan rumbled, licking its lips. It opened its mouth wide, and a devouring energy surged forth. A black hole formed from its maw, consuming everything—the creatures, the shattered universe, all of it.
"Tasty," the titan's voice echoed as it vanished into the darkness.
