Chapter 284 Pride (3)
Chapter 284 Pride (3)
"Three hundred gold coins for losing a level? Thats a trade I'm willing to take." Jake smiled as he walked along the hall slowly.
"I really want to get in on this so bad." Myriad Arrows rubbed his hands together.
His mouth was salivating as he thought about how much money Jake just earned by simply losing a game.
"If you get to the silver token or the gold token, you will get a meeting with the manager since I've already worked with him." Jake nodded.
"Wow. This is too big a cheat. With this, we can definitely start minting some real money." Myriad Arrows said.
"Not really. One a week, or a month. Thats at best." Jake shook his head.
"Losing too many games means people stop betting on you. Margins go down." Jake said.
"Whatever. I better go grind my level now. Do you want to go look at our guild members?" Myriad Arrows asked.
"Whatever. As long as they're winning games and leveling up." Jake shrugged.
"I don't want to bring everyone here. Too many people means they get matched up against each other, and after that, it's a pain to manage." He said.
"Whatever. I have to go start leveling up." Myriad Arrows turned around and left, leaving Jake alone to walk down the long corridor.
"If I win enough games and get to the gold token, then I can start earning up to a thousand gold coins a month from one of these games." Jake was lost in his thought when he felt the sword hanging by his waist vibrate.
Dismissing his thoughts, he looked up at what happened.
"Wow. I would have expected this from greed. But you aren't greed?" A familiar sound came from in front of him.
"When I looked at your armor, I thought you were Sloth. But I know for a fact that Sloth is locked up in Hydaria. So who the hell are you?"
Jake stepped back as he looked at the haughty man who just killed him in a single move.
"You…"
"So then. I think we have a little talk ahead of us? I thought I was the only one, and I'm sure you did too?" He smiled.
"The knights of sin. You are one of them, aren't you?" Jake asked.
"Good. Your head is working. I wonder what that guy was thinking. To make a heaven defier a knight of sin." The haughty man shook his head.
"You are right. I am a knight of sin. As are you. So, how the hell did you become one? Where is that goddamned traitorous son of a bitch that made you a knight of sin?" The haughty man's face turned vicious.
Jake's hands unconsciously went to his sword, but he knew that he wouldn't stand a chance against this person.
The only thing that kept him calm was that he was in a safe zone.
For now.
"Don't worry. I can't kill you here. I think you know that by now." The haughty man smiled.
"The order of knights still applies to us. We can't kill our own. Unless we enter an honor bound fight." He said as he walked closer to Jake.
"Which one are you? Blue sparks? That is Sloth's mark. And a strike that glows yellow? You aren't Greed. I can tell. Lust and Gluttony are - well, occupied. So that leaves Envy and Wrath. And Envy can only- Wrath? Really?" The haughty man's face changed.
"Interesting. So Wrath finally appears again? That is shocking." He exclaimed.
"Wait. Wait. Calm down a second here." Jake finally stopped the man's monologue.
"I am new to all of this. What are the knights of sin. Can you help me out here?" Jake sighed and asked.
The haughty man took one look at Jake and shook his head.
"Of course you don't know. Well, I can't be bothered to explain this from the start." He sighed.
"But it is going to be hard to do anything without you understanding just what you are supposed to do."
"What am I supposed to do?!" Jake couldn't take it anymore. He wasn't understanding a thing.
"Who are the knights of sin?! I know there are seven. You basically listed all of them. You are pride then? So who the hell are you guys, and what is this weird moniker that every one seems to know?" Jake asked.
"Everyone seems to know?" Pride's eyebrows rose up.
"You met someone who knows the order and they let you go? No, they couldn't have just let you go. You are a heaven defier. That must be why you lived." He nodded.
"Again with the assumptions." Jake shook his head and turned around with irritation.
"Who the hell are you? And what is this mission?"
Pride paused for a second.
"You are not our leader. Not anymore. So any more questions from you and I won't be so friendly." He said with his usual condescending tone.
"Your answers, I am too busy to answer. If you want them, then it is easier finding them on your own. Just go to where it all started. And after that- no, I have to start preparing." Pride turned around and started walking.
Jake ran after him, catching up.
"Where it all started? Where do I have to go? To Lazica? Back to the-"
"So he was hiding in that deserted place? But he is not stupid enough to stay there. You- you have to go somewhere else." Pride smiled.
"Melody. Take a field trip. You should find all you need over there." He said as he started walking away.
"Melody? The ruined kingdom?" Jake paused.
"Wait, isn't that a kingdom? Where should I start looking?!" He called out.
And almost immediately, a purple box popped up in front of him.
