Chapter 19 Trade With The Merchant

He looked at the spotless pod that was sitting in his room. The white, ivory finish of the sleek machine thrilled him.

He opened the pod and laid down inside. The soft cushions let his body melt into nothingness. It was a luxury that was worth splurging on. He got this ordered and delivered to this house the day before.

He let the pod close, and his breathing became rhythmic. The light dimmed down, and even in this afternoon, it was like Jake was in the night.

[Scanning body. Matching with database. User registered.] a metallic voice said out loud. This was another one of Nova's products. In this field, it had a practical monopoly.

Jake shut his eyes, and immediately, he could feel his head connect with the pod itself. Then, he saw desert once more. This was Lazica again. He had returned back to World Online in an instant.

It was a pity though that he had spent all of his gold already. Now, even though he was not completely poor, he gave the bigger corporations ammunition that would eventually bite back.

"One step at a time, Jake. One step at a time." Jake reminded himself and he started walking to the teleportation portal.

Now that he was done with the Class Change Quest, he had no reason to stay in Lazica. This was a barren ground with few resources. He did gain a lot from this trip, but it was time to say goodbye to a place that he had no reason to care about.

"Just one more thing that I have to do for him." Jake suddenly remembered the merchant. He did what he was asked, and now, he had to give that item to the merchant.

Making his way into the markets, he stopped in front of the shop that was supposed to be of this merchant. But the face of the shop had changed. This was not the shop that he had seen before, and the merchant behind the counter was someone that he did not recognize.

"Hello, friend. The person behind this counter, the merchant that was here two days ago, where is he?" Jake asked, but the merchant looked at him confused.

"What are you talking about? I have been here for the last twenty years. Who would dare take my spot in the market?" the merchant said proudly.

"Then who the hell made me go all the way inside the death canyon to bring this useless thing?" Jake grumbled and looked around.

Seeing nothing happen, he took out the item and waved it around.

"I brought that item that you wanted. Where the hell are you?" he shouted in the loudest voice that he could.

This was a last ditch attempt. If this didn't work, then he would just leave Lazica and go somewhere else.

"Haha, there you are, my little friend. I was wondering where you were. I thought that you weren't able to bring what I asked for." the merchant that Jake had seen that day appeared in front of him.

"Here. Now then, will you give me what I want?" Jake gave him a seemingly unordained box. What the merchant asked for was inside it.

"Yes. This is what I want. This is it. The good stuff." the merchant nodded with bright eyes after opening the box. Then, he started fishing around his coat looking for something.

"You are wearing it on your hand. Stop acting." Jake coldly said as he glared at a silver ring that was sitting on the merchant's right hand.

"Truly, I cannot fool sir. You have such discerning eyes." the merchant smiled and took out the ring.

Jake took it and put it on immediately.

[Ring of Luck: Equip(Y/N)]

Jake equipped this ring and looked at the effects that it brought.

And seeing them made him smile. The singular effect that it had would cause many armies to rush towards him to grab this ring. But they didn't know that these rings were available in excess. But NPCs would only hand them out to the right person.

[Ring of Luck: Effect: Items dropped will be of higher quality]

"Good trade." Jake nodded and he was about to leave when the merchant grabbed him.

"Wait there, brother. A few things that you are wearing interest me. Even my eyes have never laid their sights upon your shining armor and sword." the merchant's eyes glinted when they saw his sword and armor.

"Shut up. This rusty sword and armor are shining? Get out. Not for sale. Even if you sell yourself or the entire kingdom, they are not for sale." Jake said.

"Of course, of course. I am a lowly merchant, but I would know the price and value of an item such as that." the merchant nodded.

"Lowly merchant? Oh please. Both of us know that you are someone special. Not just anyone can recognize the sword that I have here." Jake snorted.

"I am just a rung in the massive Blue Dragon Commerce Group. What can I say." the merchant smiled.

"You are a part of the Blue Dragon Commerce Group?" Jake was astonished. Who wouldn't hear of this group in the coming days even? Controlling the most wealth in the entire world, they were the biggest NPC bank.

"If you ever need me, you can find me in these here streets. Or sometimes, I happen to frequent the Blue Dragon's branch here." the merchant smiled and walked away with a happy skip as he stroked the box that was in his hands.

"What a mad man." Jake shook his head, but he was anything but sad because he met the merchant. This was an opportunity that presented itself to him.

In the future, he would need connections in the Blue Dragon Commerce Group, and he already got one!
