Chapter 12 Starlight Kingdom
Jake continued along the road when it suddenly dawned upon him.
He took out the quest map again, and he hit his forehead with frustration.
"How did you not see that before? All these are a part of the western world!" he shouted with excitement.
World Online was divided into two parts. The eastern and the western world. Contrary to popular belief that these were the eastern and western servers, these were just two separate worlds that made segregation easy for the next big event.
But that aside, many of the players joined the eastern world for some reason, and few joined the western world.
There were so many NPCs in the western world, and it became known as the NPC world, dominated by kingdoms that did not favor players too much.
Still, there were going to be a few players seen. What Jake did not understand was why he was sent to the western world.
He thought that this was a quest mission created in an alternate timeline, but the way that this was going, everything that he was going to do now would affect the world in reality.
Just the thought of it made him smile with anticipation. If he had the queen of an entire kingdom in the palm of his hands, then he would be able to make a powerhouse that was backed by the kingdom itself!
It would be the dream of a guild to be able to get the backing of the kingdom it was located in. But every kingdom had the most haughty of nobles, and it would be almost impossible to get into their good books.
Only someone with a lot of achievements and karma would be able to get the guild to become the official guild of an entire kingdom, giving it a monopoly of the kingdom's resources.
With that aside, the capital city was slowly coming into sight. Until now, they were within the kingdom, but they were traveling between cities apparently.
Now that they were near the capital city, the queen's security was all but assured. Still, Jake did not rest. He would not rest until the quest was complete.
He drove the carriage to the capital city's gates, where the guard stopped them.
"Halt! Who are you? Wait a minute! This carriage-"
"If you do not want to die, then move out of the way," Jake said coldly. He knew what authority even an empty carriage that was meant for the queen had.
"Where is Her Highness?" the guard asked.
"They are on the way back. They will come here in a few hours. Get ready to receive them." Jake said.
The guards nodded and Jake proceeded into the city.
"Why did you lie to him? We are in the city. The safest place to be. Why would you lie about where you are right now?" the queen asked from inside.
"There are too many enemies that we do not know about, Your Highness. I think that it is better to throw them off your trail. The safest place to be is with the people that you can trust. I am sure that you have one or two people like that. Knights and guards. So until we reach the castle, we can't rest." Jake said.
The queen did not respond to that and Jake continued down the road to the imperial castle.
It was a majestic castle, fit for the ruler of the entire kingdom. With guards on every wall, and many, many security measures in place, it was the hardest place to break into in the entire kingdom.
Jake looked around and he could see thousands of players just walking around. This confirmed his speculation that they were in real time right now, and not in a mirror server.
Then, he stopped in front of the castle gates. Without him even needing to say something, the gates opened because of the crest that was emboldened on the carriage. No one in the entire kingdom dared to commit a forgery of this crest.
The carriage slowly went inside, and the gates shut behind them. Soon, guards appeared before the carriage, and a carpet was laid that led straight to the doors.
"Why is the Queen's carriage, the one that she was supposed to be traveling in, not accompanied by any guards? Where is the queen?" someone who appeared to be the leader of the castle guards looked at Jake.
They couldn't see inside the carriage, so they didn't know that the queen was actually inside.
"Calm down, Commander In chief. I am safe. Thanks to this man here, who I don't even know. Why is it that even the commander of my personal guard force tried to kill me?" the queen's sweet voice rang out and the door opened.
"Your Highness!" everyone knelt on the ground.
"Your Highness! You were attacked? Who dared to commit such a sin? I shall personally slay that person!" the commander in chief said with such fervor.
"If they were still alive, then you wouldn't see me right now. My defiled corpse would be thrown in the forest. I thought that every guard and knight was screened. It looks like someone was lenient and let many traitors pass!" the queen said coldly.
"I am in the most secure place in the entire kingdom, and I do not feel safe! How is it that this has happened, commander?" she shouted with anger.
Finally, Jake saw her unleashing the rage that she was supposed to have, seeing her own guards try and kill her.
"This is not the right place to have this discussion, your highness. Let us go inside to the throne room." the commander said.
To this, the queen nodded and the commander stepped forward to escort her.
Jake jumped out of the driver's seat and started walking with them as well.
"Where the hell are you going? You are a mere guard. Know your place!" one of the other guards stopped him with his sword.
"What is this? Without him, I would not even be here. Put down your sword. And as for this one, he is no longer a guard. I shall knight him, and he will be my personal knight. I can only feel safe when someone like this is guarding me." the queen said.
"It is my honor, Your Highness." Jake knelt on the ground with no hesitation.
