Chapter 912 A Difference In Enchantments
I held both of my swords at my sides, no point trying to hide the fact that I have two swords since she already knows about it now.
But despite losing that advantage of mine, Unerolia doesn't seem that eager to initiate an attack like before.
I guess even if you knew your opponent had an invisible sword, it doesn't actually negate the advantage they have of having an invisible sword.
We circled each other, both of us trying to look for a gap in each other's defenses.
Since Unerolia seemed content to be on the defensive this time, I waited for her to move a little bit closer before I lunged towards her with my Light Sword without warning.
Right before I could reach her, I quickly changed my mind and pulled back my Light Sword to stab my Shadow Sword forward instead.
I was hoping that this would catch her off guard which seemed to have worked judging from the slight widening of her eyes and the hesitation in her sword.
But unfortunately for me, even with that surprise, she was able to respond to it quickly by taking a step back and swinging her sword in an arc in front of her.
My Shadow Sword ended up being batted aside but I used the momentum from that to spin myself around, swinging my Light Sword towards her side.
She rotated her wrist, spinning her sword like a windmill to parry my blade and redirecting it above her head.
The Marchioness suddenly stepped forward while she pulled her sword behind her, the action causing the pommel of her sword to point towards me.
I realised what she was trying to do and quickly lowered my arm so that the flat of the blade of my Light Sword was in between her word pommel and me.
Just in time as well, since she thrusted her hand forward at that exact moment and the pommel of her sword struck my blade with a resounding clang.
The force of that blow was enough to send me skidding back a good few metres. Had that blow landed on me instead, I think it would have been enough to break a rib or two.
Unerolia was not done yet as she immediately dashed forward and swung her sword up from below, aiming to slice open my chest.
I had to spin away to avoid it, but I also took the opportunity to use the spin to slash my Shadow Sword out towards her as well.
The Marchioness let the momentum of her swing carry her sword up to hold it parallel to her body, catching my sword slash with the flat of her blade.
Unperturbed, I swung my Light Sword to slam it against her sword as well, catching her off guard at the sudden extra impact and causing her to stumble back a few steps.
I chased after her, bringing both my swords down low and to my left side to attempt a double uppercut with both my swords.
I feinted the double uppercut, only slashing my Light Sword instead which the Marchioness managed to catch with her blade to deflect it away.
But while my Light Sword was pushed away, I shifted my grip on my Shadow Sword and attempted a sword thrust at her abdomen.
With how she had deflected my sword away, she did not seem like she was in a position to be able to deflect this blow away.
This should definitely hit!
That was what I thought until she actually moved her left hand away from her sword to grab onto my blade, stopping it from reaching her.
Did I mention I was using my Shadow Sword to stab her? Because it's literally an invisible sword that was stabbing towards her and she actually somehow managed to catch it.
She grinned at me, "That was not bad! But I think--"
I didn't wait for her to finish speaking and went ahead to activate my Shadow Sword's enchantment, igniting it with black flames.
The flames quickly engulfed her hand and she immediately let go of it to leap a good distance away from me.
She tried to shake off the fire but too bad for her, that fire isn't going to be put out without magical means.
That means this is my victo--
She raised her sword and without hesitation, lopped off her arm at the elbow, cutting it off before the fire could spread any further.
The Marchioness then ripped off her sleeve and up the stump of her arm, stopping herself from bleeding out.
I was still so shocked that she literally just did that without any hesitation that I only realised she had bandaged herself after she was done.
She then adopted a battle stance again, standing sideways with her sword extended to point at me.
"You lost an arm…" I pointed out.
"It is merely a scratch~" She answered back.
"A scratch? Your whole arm's been chopped off!"
"Pfft~ I had worse~"
I actually believed her. Especially since there's healing magic in this World.
Ok… That means I can't even underestimate her even if she only has one arm… And I already revealed another one of my trump cards to her with my Shadow Sword's fire.
Well… At this point, I suppose I might as well just go with it.
I ignited my blade again and coated it with the black flames, switching my grip so that my Shadow Sword was now in my right hand and my Light Sword was in my left.
Unerolia didn't seem that worried about my sword and she even seemed a little amused.
"You're still being cautious despite me losing an arm?"
I tilted my head slightly, "Are you saying you are no longer able to fight with one arm?"
She simply grinned and said nothing.
Right… I'm going to take that as a no then.
Deciding that I should be the one to initiate the next round, I dashed forward and swung my Shadow Sword in an arc, aiming the dark flames at the Marchioness.
Her sword then ignited in flames but hers were the normal type of flames and she swung it at me as well. Explore more stories at empire
The two flames met in the middle and, unsurprisingly, my flames started to devour her flames.
But that seemed to be her goal as she then directed the flames away from her by manipulating the flames to curl around her, creating a 'shield' that protected her from my flames.
She then stepped under the fire shield and attempted a sword thrust aimed at my chest which I had to parry away with my Shadow Sword.
My black flames started eating away at the orange flames around her sword but she simply shook that part of the fire off onto the ground and new flames took their place.
She's really just nullifying my fire with her fire I see…
Ok, let's go all out then…
I swung my Shadow Sword again, creating another trail of black flames that I seemed to be aiming to burn her with.
Once again, she conjured up another blast of fire to block the black flames from reaching her but that was exactly what I was aiming for.
With the threat of the black flames being seemingly greater, I was hoping she would have forgotten about my other sword.
Thus, while she was still mid-swing in manipulating her fire, I thrusted my left hand forward, stabbing my Light Sword at her chest and also activating the enchantment at the same time.
The light blade activated and it extended itself towards Unerolia's chest, piercing through it.
She looked down in surprise at the blade sticking through her chest.
"Oh…" She mouthed, her fire dissipating around her.
I pulled the blade out from her chest and quickly started to heal her with [Heal].
Mother then appeared beside me and wordlessly handed a really small bottle of potion to the Marchioness.
She took it from Mother gratefully and tossed her head back to empty the potion in one gulp.
The cloth on her arm fell away and a new arm rapidly grew out from the stump, restoring itself back to how it was before she had cut it off.
That must have been a pretty high ranked potion for it to regenerate the limb like that…
Unerolia flexed her newly regenerated hand a few times before turning to me with a grin, "You actually won against me, Aster! That was a great spar!! How did you get so strong?! Those movements of yours too, that's incredible!"
"Eh… I think I only won because of my swords' enchantments though…" I admitted.
If this was just a pure sword fight, I definitely would not have won since she was clearly more skilled as a swordswoman than I was.
She grinned, "But you still managed to hold your ground against me! That's incredible! Who taught you how to wield a sword?!"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
I looked up at Mother who was looking all smug.
"Oh… That explains… Fair enough… Hey, can we spar again tomorrow? Please?!"
Really? That spar was tiring for me already…
This woman is a battle maniac…
What do you think?
