Chapter 838: They Prepared Events
I pushed open the doors of the hall and stepped inside.
And then my jaw dropped.
Ok, so the previous birthday celebrations for me have definitely been quite lavish and could also be described as a little elaborate.
But this one was several levels above even those.
Not only was the entire hall was decorated immaculately with streamers, lights and even a big banner wishing me happy birthday, there were also rows of tables that were filled to the brim with various different kinds of food and, more importantly, sweets.
At the very back, it seems like they even prepared an entire ensemble made up of the servants to play music during the party.
In addition to that… Oh my god… Are those statues of me? Since when did they make those?! Why did they even make those?!
A chorus of gasps came from behind me as everyone else beheld the hall in front of them.
I was so distracted by the decorations that I almost didn't see the entire crowd of servants who had lined themselves up on either side of the doors who had been waiting for me to enter.
They immediately bowed at the waist, "Welcome, Young Mistress and dear guests."
I was just about to ask who was the one responsible in planning all of this when Katsuki approached me with… OMG Caaaaaake!!
Om nom nom nom~
"Beautiful…"
"Now I know why we had that competition for sweets…"
"I'm so glad I spent the entirety of last night preparing it now."
Mmm~ So sweet~ Eh? I think I heard some whispering behind me but-- Ohhh~ Katsuki's just gave me another cookie! Yummy!
I was licking my fingers when Katsuki spoke up, "Mistress. You need to announce the start of the party."
Eh?
Oh right, err… What should I say?
I turned back to see all my schoolmates arranged in front of me and everyone was looking at me with faces of anticipation.
It also seems like the servants had passed out drinks to them as well which I guess would serve as a toast or something when the party starts.
Katsuki then gave me my own cup of it and I realised it was just a fruit punch.
Good, I almost thought that they were going to give us alcohol because that would be pretty weird for this crowd…
Ok, I guess I'll just wing it.
I raised my glass, "Thank you all for coming here today! I know that I just practically dropped a really big bomb on you guys for revealing the fact that I'm actually the Young Mistress of the Nilm Family, but I hope that you would still enjoy your time here at this party!"
I chanced a look at a few specific schoolmates and I could see that the ones who had either been rude to me or had done something to me, shuffle a little uncomfortably.
Heh.
Well, the main point of this isn't really to torture them but to just have a good time today so I don't really need to care about how they feel about this revelation.
I continued, "Once again, I thank all of you for coming today so let's get this party started!"
Everyone raised their cups and cheered.
Alright, now where is the-
"This way, Mistress," Katsuki gestured.
Ahhhh~ You know me so well, Katsuki! You're going to lead me to the sweets right?
Eh?
The place she led me to was an empty table where she sat me down which made me quite confused.
I then realised there was another larger table at the side with several chairs facing towards me.
Err… What's this?
Katsuki turned towards my schoolmates, "For the first event of the day, may I introduce the judges. Firstly, may I present the Queen of Lehcarouc Kingdom, Queen Levianne Lehcarouc."
The door at the side opened and Levianne walked in wearing an intricate dress that showed off her royal status as the Queen of the kingdom. She was even moving with the grace of a Queen and she had the aura of a monarch around her, similar to that day when the Off-Worlder broke into the vault.
Ok, first of all… What the heck is this 'first event'? Second of all, what do you mean by 'judges'? What do we need judges for? Am I being judged for something? And thirdly… No one told me the Queen was coming!
Gasps came from the assembled students, clearly surprised that the Queen herself was attending this as well.
"The Queen is also here?!"
"Well… It is the Nilm Family after all."
"I've never been this close to the Queen before…"
Levianne ignored them and walked over to me, stopping just short of reaching my table.
"Happy birthday, Aster," She greeted politely.
I was going to stand but I felt a hand on my shoulder to stop me.
Looking to the side, I realised that it was Katsuki stopping me from standing.
I guess she wanted me to stay seated?
I turned back to the Queen and cleared my throat, "Ahem… Umm… Thank you, your Majesty."
"Ufufufu~ You're welcome, Aster~" She giggled before moving towards the long table.

Ok, I know she was acting like that because there's outsiders here, otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if she had just rushed to hug me instead.
I didn't even have time to come to terms with the fact that the Queen was here when Katsuki stepped up to make another announcement.
"The next judge for this event… The third princess of the Lehcarouc Royal Family, Princess Tiara Lehcarouc."
The same door opened again and Tiara walked through.
She was also dressed in a rather elaborate dress that I've never seen her in before, meaning she must have gotten this dress specifically for this event.
"The third princess?"
"Wasn't she the one that was kept in a tower?"
"Didn't you hear? Things had changed a while ago… I guess now we know who changed it…"
Not gonna lie… I actually kind of forgot Tiara was the third princess of the Kingdom… I just saw her as Tiara, the fellow cookie lover.
Tiara came up to me like how her mother did.
"Happy birthday, Lady Aster. Thank you for your invitation to the party," She greeted with a simple curtsy.
"Thank you for coming, Princess Tiara."
She nodded at me before joining her mother at the table.
Ok, seriously, who planned the party this year? And what are they judging?
"For the rest of the judges, we shall be picking randomly from the people who are not participating in the contest," Katsuki continued.
Wait… Contest? What contest is this? Am I the one competing?
Katsuki then unfurled a roll of paper that she pulled out from her sleeve, taking a moment to read it before calling out.
"Student Odeta, student Delmare and professor Lisa."
…
This whole thing is rigged… And you girls aren't even trying to hide it…
I don't even want to say anything anymore…
Odeta, Delmare and Lisa stepped out from the crowd, all three of them moving like they had rehearsed this before.
"Wahahaha! Happy birthday, Sister Aster!"
'Happy birthday, Aster <3'
"Ha… Happy birthday."
Wow… Not gonna lie, Lisa's really good at acting huh? She's still pretending like she's not one of us.
I'm assuming she has more planned for later which involves the people she 'invited' to the party.
"Ummm… Thank you for coming, everyone."
They also took their place at the table, joining the Queen and the Princess.
Seriously, what's going on here? What contest are they judging here and why am I sat across from them?
I looked at Katsuki, trying to signal silently to her to explain to me what was going on.
Instead, she gave me a reassuring nod before stepping forward.
"For the ones that will be participating in the first event, please prepare your pieces and line up according to the number on the bottom of your cups. That will be the order you shall approach."
My schoolmates then started looking at the bottom of their cups and sure enough, there were numbers painted at the bottom.
A few who had not finished drinking the fruit punch quickly finished it just so that they could check the bottom without spilling the drink, though there were a few who simply lifted the cup above their heads to look at the bottom instead.
They then chatted excitedly as they started lining up according to their received number with the other servants overseeing them.
The fact that they didn't look confused about what was going on basically told me that they were most likely informed about this contest and I was the only one that was left out.
In fact, about ninety percent of them had formed a line while only a small group of them stood at the side to watch.
Katsuki then nodded at the first person who happened to be a first year girl who was holding a box looking quite nervous.
Oh, is this a present giving event? I said I don't need presents though…
The girl stepped forward and presented the box to me, "I… I hope you like it, Big Sis Aster…"
Err… Ok?
I looked at Katsuki and she nodded, showing that I should open it.
I undid the ribbon and lifted up the lid, revealing a cupcake sitting inside of it.
…
…
Waaaahhh!! Sweets! I want! Om nom nom nom~
