Chapter 85 - FEEL SORRY FOR
"Lu-Lucas...." Selena's eyes started to tear up seeing Lucas' treatment of her. Her lips seemed to tremble with anger that she couldn't just let out.
"Sorry, what's this?" The appearance of a man wearing a black work suit caught their attention.
"Who are you?" Lucas asked matter-of-factly. He stared blankly at the man who was about 35 years old.
"Mr. Lucas? You are Mr Lucas, right?" The man asked for sure. Of course he knows the figure of Lucas who often appears in the mass media. "I'm the manager here. It's an honor for Mr. Lucas to come to our restaurant. If I may ask, what happened?" He added respectfully.
"You're the manager here?" Lucas paused for a moment. "Where have you been? You should have come earlier, before my wife was abused by this woman!" He insisted, pointing to Selena's face.
Hearing Lucas' words, the manager suddenly lowered his head because he felt slapped. He was indeed late in coming to break up the commotion at the restaurant he was managing. However, it wasn't intentional. He had only learned that there had been a commotion there, after an employee had informed him.
"Sorry for my negligence, Sir. I just found out there was a commotion here. Once again I apologize for the inconvenience," said the manager very respectfully.
"There's no point in apologizing, because it won't turn back time! My wife has already been humiliated and I can't accept all that!" Lucas insisted, unconcerned by the manager's apology.
"And you!" pointed Lucas right in front of Selena's face. "Don't ever bother and touch my wife. If that happens, I will never let you live in peace!" sarcasm without wanting to give mercy, then took Ellena away from there.
Meanwhile, Selena still looked stunned while shedding the tears she had been trying to hold back.
The sky that was originally bright suddenly dimmed to reveal white clouds that turned black, as if representing Ellena's current feelings. Within minutes, the sound of raindrops falling slowly began to echo in the car Lucas and Ellena were traveling in.
Luckily they were in the car before the rain started. Lucas' car seemed to pass through the street which seemed still empty from the busy vehicles passing by. His gaze focused on the front with his jaw still clenched, remembering Selena's treatment earlier. Seeing that woman's figure really made his emotions suddenly overflow.
The longer the rain was getting heavier, along with the wind that infiltrated the sidelines of the car door. Ellena who was still wearing wet clothes started to feel cold. She folded her arms in front of her chest, hoping to ward off a gust of wind that made her body seem frozen in the car.
The black coat, which was still attached to partially cover her body, didn't seem to have the slightest effect on the coldness that came from the wet clothes and the gust of wind at the same time. She brought the two sides of the coat closer together, realizing that even holding her arms still didn't reduce the chill in her body.
Lucas, who was focused on driving, suddenly turned to the side when he noticed Ellena who looked uncomfortable.
"Are you cold?" Lucas asked to confirm.
Ellena flinched slightly and reflexively turned to Lucas. "A little." He said simply, then glanced back in any direction.
Lucas turned off the car air conditioner which was still on, even though the cabin temperature setting was ideal for the rainy weather. However, he still didn't want it to have an effect and make his wife's body colder.
Ellena glanced at him, looking at Lucas' hand that was pressing the on/off button of the car's air conditioner. However, it was only for a moment. She looked out the car window again, staring at the big trees on the side of the road that looked like they were chasing each other.
"Sorry." Lucas whispered in the middle of driving the car. However, there was no response whatsoever from Ellena.
"Sorry, because of me, you have to accept the insults from Selena." Lucas made it clear.
"I should have rejected your request from the start." Ellena replied without turning her gaze to Lucas.
Lucas was silent for a while, contemplating Ellena's words that slightly pierced his heart.
"Are you sorry?" He asked, looking sadly at Elena.
"Yes, I'm sorry!" Ellena said without further ado as she turned to Lucas.
"We shouldn't have made that pact! Do you know how embarrassed I am in front of the crowd for being accused of snatching you from that woman?" explained Ellena while expressing her annoyance. "If I hadn't accepted your request, it probably wouldn't have happened like this."
Lucas was silent, as if deliberately giving Ellena a chance to talk a lot.
"If you ask me I'm sorry or not. The answer is 'Yes' and I'm the one who regrets the most here!" Ellena stared blankly at Lucas' face while pointing at herself.
"I'm even more sorry, when I realized how difficult it is to overcome the pounding of my heart that always flutters whenever I'm around you, Lucas. Unconsciously I've betrayed Keenan." She continued in heart.
Lucas suddenly braked suddenly, when he heard the last words that came out of Ellena's mouth. 'Is she that regretful for agreeing to a pact with me?' So he thought.
He looked deeply into Ellena's face. There was a look of disappointment in it. Disappointed for having made the wrong decision. I don't know how much Ellena regrets at this time, what is clear is that he can feel all of it, even if it's only through eyes.
"I don't know why God is so mean to me."
Ellena's defenses collapsed, she started to flood her cheeks with tears. Congested. That's how he feels right now. The life that was lived since childhood, was so painful for her. How could she endure all that pain for so long that she grew into an adult woman, when she was just an ordinary human?
"Since childhood, I have been faced with a big problem. A fatal accident that took my father's life and took all my happiness, then suddenly I found out the truth about Father's affair with another woman and even had a son. painful? It hurts even more when all those problems actually led me to the pit of destruction, namely when I met you who forced me to agree to the agreement!" Ellena complained expressing all her heart's content at such length.
"Yes, if it weren't for my father's debts, I wouldn't have accepted your offer and I wouldn't have been caught up in this charade. Am I humiliated? Yes, maybe that's true. I'm no better than a cheap woman who is willing to sacrifice her pride just for the sake of money. I hate myself. Why did God create me just to endure this pain, why?" Ellena screamed as she hit her own chest.
Feeling unable to bear to see Ellena struggling, Lucas immediately embraced the woman's body. "No, Ellena. Stop all this! I was wrong, I'm sorry for involving you in my troubles." He said as he hugged Ellena tightly. He didn't know that Ellena's life was that bitter.
There was not the slightest resistance from Elena. She just felt comfortable in Lucas's arms. She spilled all her sobs on the man's shoulder. Right now, only Lucas could rely on her.
Lucas gently stroked the top of Ellena's head, deliberately wanting to give her a sense of security and comfort. Seeing the woman who had managed to steal his heart secretly sobbing like that, really made him feel pity. Especially when he found out that the cause of Ellena's crying was him, of course he felt even more guilty.
"Why is God so mean to me, Lucas. Can't I feel happy for a moment? It's really hard to face the next journey of my life," said Ellena in the midst of sobs. Subconsciously she had shown her comfort in Lucas's arms.
"No, Elle! God loves you. He knows that you are a strong woman. I'm sure you can get through it all. I will always be there for you, whenever you need me." Lucas replied expressing his concern for Ellena.
Lucas was at a loss as to what he should do in such a situation. Obviously, he didn't want to see Ellena sad again, much less sad about it. Maybe Ellena was very disappointed in him, but he also couldn't help but watch her let out a sigh of relief.
Either way, he must be able to prove that the incident involving himself and Ellena is not something to regret, but the opposite.
After Lucas realized that he had feelings for Ellena, he had promised to make her happy with him. No matter how difficult the obstacles that must be faced, he will still try to beat, even if the obstacle is Keenan.
'I promise to make you happy, Elle. Trust me!" Lucas mumbled in the middle of his embrace towards Ellena.
'I will prove to you that I am the only way that God sent to get you out of that slump. I believe that there is a beautiful plan from God for us, Elle.' He added still in his heart.
"Believe that God's scenario is more beautiful than anything else, Elle." Lucas was still trying to calm Ellena who couldn't even say anything anymore, because her chest felt tighter holding back the sobs.
"B-but why so long, Lucas? I've been patient enough to face all these trials, but in fact my life is still the same and even more problems are attacking the remnants of my happiness," replied Ellena stuttering a little, after a while she didn't speak.
"Stop it, Elle! Don't ever say it again. You can definitely get out of the trouble you're in and I can help you achieve it!" Lucas said reflexively, just trying to wake up Ellena's bad thoughts.
Ellena swiftly stretched her body when she realized that she was in Lucas' arms. She looked seriously at Lucas' face with tears still in her eyes.
"How to?" She asked Lucas.
Lucas was silent for a moment, as if he had doubts in his mind. He stared at Ellena's face so closely, then he took a short breath before finally responding to Ellena's question. "Stay with me.." He said quietly.
