Chapter 72 - LIKE A CHILD
Lucas just left the room and walked over to his car which was parked in the yard, without caring about his wife's explanation.
"Lucas, where are you going?" shouted Ellena as she chased Lucas forward. She stared at her husband's back for a moment before he got into the car.
Lucas' car drove by and Ellena just stared at him in amazement. "Why is he the angry one?" Shhe whispered in surprise, then she approached Keenan and Martin back.
"Brother, are you all right?" Martin asked Keenan.
"I'm fine, Martin." Keenan replied flatly.
"Why did you suddenly come here?" Ellena's question instantly made Keenan turn his head. He looked at Ellena's face who was throwing a scornful look at him.
"Are you mad at me?"
"Of course I'm angry!" Ellena said reflexively. "I never once asked you to come here, nor did I even give you the address of this house. Why are you so desperate to come? You see? How angry Lucas is to see you here!"
"Am I wrong, if I want to see the condition of my lover who has not had any news?" Keenan looked sadly at Ellena's face. Yes, of course he didn't expect that Ellena would defend Lucas more and be so angry with him.
"Besides, I also just heard the news that your mother was sick and was taken to the city. That's the reason why I came here." He continued later.
In the midst of their debate, suddenly a group of burly men dressed in all black appeared in the courtyard. Without warning, they immediately ambushed and dragged Keenan from the place.
"Let go! What did you guys do to me, huh?" Keenan rebelled when his arms were already being held by two of them. However, it did not break the defense of the two bearded men who were dragging him.
"Sir, what is this? Why did you suddenly bring him?" Ellena followed their footsteps towards the courtyard.
"Yeah. If there's a problem, we'd better solve it with a cool head. Don't be like this!" said Martin who also did the same thing.
However, none of the five men gave an answer, until for a moment the sound of something falling caught their attention.
"What did you guys do to me, huh?" Keenan shouted as he looked up and stared furiously at the two men who had just thrown their bodies to the floor of the yard, right next to his red car.
"Keenan ...." Ellena's steps were stopped when a man grabbed her arm, just as she was about to approach Keenan. She really couldn't bear to see her lover being treated like trash.
"Let go of my hand! Who exactly are you?" Ellena looked probingly at the man who was gripping her arm.
"Let go of my sister's hand and don't you ever dare touch it!" Martin let go of the man's hand with one tug.
"Never again do you come to this house and disturb the peace of our master's family!" sarcasm a big man and has thick beard growing around his cheeks.
Not only Ellena, but Martin and Keenan were also surprised to hear the man's statement. From the sentence, they can already determine who is behind this current problem.
Keenan immediately got up and clenched his jaw, facing the five men who were already standing straight in front of him. He then grinned bitterly in a very bold manner.
"Tell your masters, don't be a coward, if you dare to face me head on!" His firmness which suddenly made one of the men who dragged him feel furious. A single blow almost flew to his face. For some reason Lucas' man just hung his fist in the air.
Ellena immediately covered her face when she saw the scene. However, realizing that the man had given up on hitting Keenan, she showed her face again and approached her lover.
"Keenan, you better get out of here," said Ellena, holding Keenan's arm.
"No!" Keenan quickly brushed away Ellena's hand. He was not satisfied with responding to the treatment of Lucas's men who had lowered his self-esteem in front of his lover.
"You're going to be in big trouble if you stay here all the time. I don't want that to happen, come on!"
Ellena tried to beg her lover to fulfill her request. She didn't want Lucas to do anything more dangerous to Keenan.
Keenan stared at Ellena for a while. "Are you okay living with him?" asked Keenan starting to worry about Ellena.
Seeing Lucas act this time made him believe that Lucas was not a good man for Ellena.
"I'm fine, Keenan. You don't have to worry about me." Ellena said reassuringly.
"How is your mother doing?" He asked again, even in this precarious situation, Keenan still had time to think about Ellena's mother's condition.
"Mother is fine too, Keenan. You get out of here." Ellena replied, shaking slightly because she was really very afraid of that group of strangers.
"You just go, Bro. I'm here, I will take good care of my sister," said Martin who already understood how worried Keenan was.
Keenan looked down as if he was thinking about something. After a few seconds, he then looked up and glared at the man who almost hit him.
"Tell your masters, our business is not finished yet!" He insisted, then glanced at Ellena and Martin. "I hope you'll be all right here, I say goodbye." He added, and hurried into the car behind him.
If it wasn't for Ellena asking, he wouldn't want to just leave there. However, after he thought for a while, it seemed like it would be pointless to serve strangers who had nothing to do with their problems. Keenan would be very happy, if he came face to face with Lucas, no matter how bad the repercussions he would receive.
Elsewhere, Lucas had just arrived at the office. He immediately sat in the swivel chair that had been his pride. A triumphant grin appeared on his handsome face, which a moment ago had a grim expression on his face.
"That's the reward for people who dare to oppose and toy with me!" He said, looking in any direction.
Yes, a few minutes ago, he had just received good news from the messenger he asked to take care of Keenan at his house.
"You think, you'll be easy to beat me?" He asked, starting to monologue. "No! You're not going to take Ellena that easily from me." He said, shaking his head slowly.
"I'm more and more sure not to let go of Ellena for a man like you. We'll see, soon Ellena will fall into my arms!" This time Lucas laughed happily, just before a knock on the door snatched his happiness away.
Lucas huffed in annoyance, then responded to the sound of a knock on the door.
"Enter!" He ordered someone out there.
Unlike Lucas who was so happy right now, Ellena was just the opposite. The woman was grumbling incessantly because of the events she had just witnessed in front of her eyes.
She walked towards the house with lips that didn't stop moving, emitting swear words that were clearly aimed at Lucas as well as Keenan.
Beside Ellena, there was Martin, who had only been watching his older sister who was already angry, without wanting to say anything.
"I can't stop thinking about them. How can they act like a child? Both Lucas and Keenan, they're the same!" She growled as she crossed the threshold of the front of the house.
"You can't just blame Big Brother Keenan. What's wrong here is clearly your husband, not him!" Martin protested who seemed unwilling if his older sister cursed Keenan.
"You too!" Ellena turned to the side in anger. "You're still a kid. What do you know about adult business, huh? You'd better be quiet, don't say much!" She said firmly which instantly silenced Martin. He was really scared when he saw his sister angry like that.
"Besides, Lucas wouldn't be that angry either, if Keenan didn't make a mistake." He whispered then suddenly made Martin's eyes widen slightly.
"You defended him?" Martin looked at Ellena probingly. This was the first time he heard his brother blaming Keenan. Truly extraordinary. What really happened to his sister?
"I don't blame anyone!" Ellena argued swiftly stopping her steps, then facing her sister who also stopped her steps, right in the living room.
"But ... Lucas couldn't have been that angry, if nothing bothered him. After all, who told Keenan to come here? If he hadn't been so desperate to see me, maybe Lucas wouldn't have turned out like this either, right?"
"Elle, Martin ...."
A familiar voice echoing through the room managed to make them turn their heads and stop the argument.
"Ma'am?" Ellena immediately rushed to her mother who was sitting in a wheelchair right in front of her room. "Ma'am, why did you leave the room?" She asked after she was in front of her mother.
"Earlier, mother faintly heard the commotion. What happened?" Briana asked, looking at Ellena, demanding an answer.
"What commotion, ma'am?" Ellena lowered her legs and crouched down in front of her mother. "There's no fuss of any kind here." She added, lying, just not wanting to worry her mother.
"But I heard your screams earlier. Did nothing really happen?" Briana tried to confirm her guess. Apparently, she still didn't believe Ellena's answer.
Ellena was silent for a moment as if searching for the right answer for her mother. "Oh ... that I accidentally slipped, Ma'am. Sorry, I disturbed Ma'am's rest." He answered while putting on a pitiful expression.
"That's right, Ma'am. You'd better rest again," said Martin, who also had the same thought as his sister.
Yes, of course they don't want their mother to know the truth, especially knowing Keenan's arrival at the house. because it would make Briana wonder about the true relationship between Ellena and Lucas as well as Keenan.
"Come on in, Ma'am! I'll take you to the room.." Ellena got back up and pushed the wheelchair into the room.
