Chapter 207 - I'M FURIOUS
Chapter 207 – I’M FURIOUS
"Argh!" Lucas groaned in frustration as he swept all the objects on the desk with both hands, after a few minutes Alex was arrested and immediately secured by the police.
Until this moment he still couldn't believe that Alex had betrayed him. How could he possibly be fooled by the innocent face of his personal assistant. In the slightest he never thought that Alex would be so cruel to her.
All this time he had always put full trust in Alex, and even considered the man as his own brother, not just a personal assistant. However, in fact that trust was betrayed. Anyone would be angry if they were in that position.
"Lucas, enough!" shouted Adley trying to dissipate Lucas' anger at this point.
"Alex has been taken to the police station, I hope he gets what he deserves for what he did." Adley added, trying to calm Lucas' emotions, even though he was actually still angry at Alex.
"I don't want to know, anyway Alex has to pay for everything he did!" Lucas said breathlessly.
"You know how much I trust him? But why did he betray me like this? What did I do to him?" Lucas looked at Adley with a pitiful expression.
How heartbroken he must have been to be betrayed by someone very close to him. For the umpteenth time he was forced to swallow a pill of disappointment at the actions of the people he trusted the most. Michelle, Selena, and Alex, they managed to make her heart shattered like shards of glass. In fact, including his mother, he almost ruined his life as if he had no life.
"I'm sure the police won't stay silent in this matter, because Alex's actions have endangered the lives of Ellena and her mother. Don't worry, everything will go according to expectations," said Adley, not stopping Lucas.
"I'm still not satisfied, if I haven't seen him die in my own hands!" Lucas said as he clenched his fists.
"Never mind, leave everything to the authorities. We'll see what the outcome will be. I've also asked my trusted people to investigate this case and also asked Maximus to take care of it." Adley lightly patted the base of his best friend's arm, looking down at him wistfully. Of course he felt sorry for Lucas like that.
"You'd better go home now. I think you need some rest." Adley said, starting to worry about Lucas' condition.
How come? Lucas was just about to feel his happiness again after Ellena returned home. However, again and again he was confronted again with another harsh reality, before he managed to achieve that happiness completely.
How could Adley look okay, when his best friend was frustrated like that. It was the only support he could do for Lucas. At least he didn't leave, when Lucas was in a slump.
"It's late. I think Ellena is waiting for you to come home." Adley reminded and managed to make Lucas graduate instantly. This was evident from how Lucas suddenly changed his expression to a wistful one, when he heard his wife's name called.
"Do you want me to drop you off?" Adley asked when Lucas decided to take her advice.
"No need, I can go home alone." Lucas replied and then walked slowly and a little limp, out of his study.
Meanwhile, Adley just smiled as he looked at Lucas who had walked behind him, until he disappeared behind the elevator door.
Lucas walked quickly into the house. His expression clearly showed the fury he had repeatedly failed to suppress.
"Lucas, have you come?"
Ellena was dumbfounded when she didn't get a response from her husband, even she looked confused by Lucas's expression at this time.
'What's wrong with Lucas? Why doesn't he ignore me?' Ellena murmured as quickly as she ended the activity of arranging the dinner menu on the dining table.
"Lucas, why did you come home so late?" Ellena asked as she followed Lucas at a slightly hasty pace, keeping up with the man's pace.
"I have a lot of work to do, Elle." Lucas answered lazily, without looking back the slightest bit.
Lucas landed on the edge of the bed. Felt like laying down immediately and avoiding anyone, including Ellena. Apart from being annoyed, he also realized that his current emotions were still bubbling. Don't want to accidentally vent your anger on other people.
"You want to take a shower right away?" Ellena asked as she crouched down, then looked up at Lucas' face.
Lucas took a deep breath, then said, "I want to rest first, then I'll take a shower."
Ellena then reached out and removed the shiny black shoes from Lucas' feet one by one.
"Elle, you don't have to do this to me. You're my wife, not a maid in this house." Lucas said, not wanting to see Ellena acting like a housekeeper.
"It's okay, Lucas. It's my duty as a wife." Ellena answered very gently.
Instantly Lucas' heart was touched to see Ellena's treatment that cared so much for him. A smile was etched on his face. How he was very grateful to have a wife as good as Ellena. However, it still couldn't distract him from the figure of Alex who was currently bothering his heart and mind.
"Get up! I don't want my wife to look low like that." Lucas grabbed the base of Ellena's arm and lifted the tiny body to sit beside him.
"Are you in trouble?" Ellena chirps while looking at Lucas probingly.
Lucas arched an eyebrow, showing an expression of astonishment. How could Ellena's question be so precise? Could it be obvious from the look on his face, that he was facing a big problem?
"What do you mean?" Lucas asked intending to hide the problem he was having from Ellena. It wouldn't be long, maybe only until Alex was identified as a suspect.
"Don't lie to me, Lucas. I know you're not okay right now," said Ellena, frowning slightly.
"How could I lie to you, Honey." Lucas replied, trying to hide his frustrated expression behind a forced smile. He then hugged Ellena's body from the side.
"I still can't believe it!" said Ellena who clearly knew very well how her husband was.
Lucas looked down and took a deep breath. Don't know how to convince his wife anymore about this. No matter how hard she tried to hide her anger, Ellena still couldn't believe it.
"Do you still consider me your wife?" Ellena chirps that managed to make Lucas look back.
"Of course, Honey. How could I not think of you as a wife. Have you forgotten how much I love you?" Lucas explained.
"Is that what you call love? You're hiding your own problems without wanting to share them with your wife?" Ellena attacked, still trying to make Lucas realize that when someone is ready to get married, it means they are ready to share joys and sorrows together.
"Honey, come on … don't overdo it. I'm just a little tired and want to rest. Do you understand?" Lucas said still in a soft tone. It seemed he really didn't want to share the wound with his wife. He was the only one who felt the pain.
"Okay. That means you don't think of me as a wife anymore!" Ellena was about to get up from her seat. However, as fast as a flash Lucas' hand grabbed her.
"It's not like that, Honey."
"Then?" Ellena stared blankly at Lucas' face. "Is there any other reason besides that?" She asked still curious.
Again Lucas just sighed. Ah, should he just give up and say everything that happened today? He then looked sadly at Ellena's face.
"Yeah, I'm having a problem." Lucas replied with a pitiful face.
"What's the problem? Tell me!" said Elena emphatically.
"A matter of heart and mind." Lucas answered flatly.
"What do you mean, Lucas?"
"I miss you so much today, Honey. That's the reason why I'm like this," explained Luca evasively. It seemed he was having a hard time telling the truth.
"I know you're still lying to me!" said Ellena still not believing her husband's words. Shouldn't Lucas have hugged her right away, if she really really missed her, instead of ignoring her like before?
"Ah, so hard to convince you, Honey." Lucas sighed in frustration as he again failed to convince his wife. Ah, why are Ellena's instincts so strong against her?
"I know who you are, Lucas. You couldn't have been so cold to me if you weren't in trouble!" sarcasm Ellena was annoyed.
"Okay, I'll be honest." Lucas replied looking resigned. "I'm not in trouble, but I'm furious, Honey. That's why I don't want to talk to anyone, including you," Lucas explained as he grabbed his wife's chin, as if on purpose to tease.
"You're so cruel, Lucas!" Ellena snapped while pouting her lips which made Lucas chuckle a little.
Ah, who would have thought, it turns out that Ellena can treat the wound in his heart, even though it won't last long.
"It's not like that! I'm just afraid if my attitude and words hurt you, Honey." Lucas said as he hugged his wife tightly.
"You, always treat me like this!" Ellena snapped, not serious.
"Leave it alone. You're my wife, it's only natural for me to be like this to you. You want to see me spoiling other women, huh?" Lucas didn't care about his wife's words and suddenly made Ellena just stare in annoyance.
"Tell me, what makes you angry?" asked Ellena curiously.
"The police have found the perpetrators of the kidnapping." Lucas answered, which made Ellena surprised.
"Really, Lucas?" Ellena asked very enthusiastically.
"Yes." Lucas answered shortly, nodding his head.
"Then why should you be angry? Shouldn't you be happy?" Ellena looked at her husband's face in surprise.
"Both. I'm angry, yes. Happy too, yes." Lucas didn't know how to express his feelings anymore.
"Why like that?" Ellena glanced at her husband's face.
"You know what? It was Alex."
"What?" Ellena flinched when the name of her personal assistant was called. How is it possible if the culprit is Alex? Oh, how hard to believe.
"You were surprised, weren't you?" Lucas asked to confirm. "Yes, I was the same, even more surprised than you, Honey." He added with a regretful expression.
"Are you sure it was Alex who did that?" asked Ellena as if she still couldn't believe it.
"Yes, according to the police, he is indeed the one," Lucas replied, lowering his wok as if he wanted to hide his disappointment with Alex in front of his wife.
Keep calm and write something….
