Chapter 46 The Party Happens Now (2)
The night was supposed to be full of celebration. Everyone was enjoying their drinks, meals and everything that occurred in between. Lukas couldn't help but even be dragged into somewhere else by none other than Theodore himself.
Theodore draped an arm across his shoulders and nodded towards the two women with a charming smile. He moved fast across the gala's hall and swiftly avoided individuals that tried to greet him. "Hey, I missed this guy. Could I borrow him for a second?"
Lily's eyes widened and she tried to grab her cousin's arm. "Theo–"
"We'll be fine, fine. Don't worry." Lukas reassured them and waved off a hand. He didn't want the girls to get worried and he'd rather not have them attempt to save him or anything.
Luckily, or not, the next thing he knew, he was being brought to an isolated part of the mansion in a balcony away from everyone else. The music faded in the background.
The smile disappeared from Theodore's face and instead his face became blank.
"So… what's this all about?"
"What?"
"Walking in with two women both linked in your arms acting as if nothing's wrong." Theodore chuckled. "You've got balls of steel–but I've cut through so much stronger materials."
Lukas couldn't help but slap a hand over his face. Of course, it was scary–but at the moment, he knew he was in the right and the clear and couldn't be bothered. He took a deep breath and then looked the other man in the eye.
"Here's the thing–"
"You're lucky that Lily's old man didn't see it and only I did." Theodore sighed and leaned against the balcony. "I'm not sure what kind of twist or turn you did–but the only thing I know is this… you make Lily happy."
"...I guess so." Lukas felt sheepish at the moment. He had hurt Lily badly and was just coming back to her good graces. To say that he made her happy was a big thing, and he felt like he didn't deserve it.
"Don't be humble. I'm the one saying it–I can tell and that's why I'm asking you to take care of her now and don't do anything stupid. I don't know what arrangement she agreed with you guys, but take care of her and don't make her cry again."
"What if I made her cry tears of joy?" Lukas said.
"Tch. Still got that tongue huh?" Theodore let out a sigh and eventually just shook his head. "Razor as always."
"You act as if we've talked frequently."
"You don't exactly have a mask or persona up. I think that's what Lily likes, and maybe what I can admire about you too."
"Uh…"
"In a completely platonic way." Theodore rolled his eyes. "Don't flatter yourself. You may have a nice face, but it's not that nice enough to keep me interested."
"Okay?" Lukas didn't know how to take those words. Relieved? Offended? He made a perfectly attractive Vampire, thank you very much.
"Well, now that's over, let's go back and see how those girls are going." Theodore chuckled. "Make sure that they don't actually fight themselves over you."
"We're doing better now."
"Too early to tell." Theodore looked him in the eye. "For now, they're willing to compromise since it's just them… but what happens if you fall in love with another one? Will you take them in a relationship too and ask my cousin to take it as easy as before? Wouldn't they feel as if there was something wrong with them for you to fall for someone else?"
"My feelings are distinct and separate for each." Lukas immediately said. For some reason two people suddenly flashed in his head. Serena and Stacy.
Two girls he had interacted with.
Both very different and yet similar for some reason he didn't know.
"And I wouldn't just quickly act on my feelings you know? I have self control." Lukas added.
"Sure, sure." Theodore rolled his eyes. "Whatever you say buddy."
"I'm not your buddy."
"We might as well be. Or do you want me to start calling you cousin-in-law?"
"...I mean that could work." Lukas coughed and scratched his cheek. The idea of seeing Lily walking down an aisle with her white dress didn't actually sound so bad and that was where a relationship kinda turned into after some time right?
"Man, you're pretty basic." Theodore laughed. "But yeah shall we get going?"
"Of course." Lukas kinda had left the two girls for too long. He missed being by their side already, but at the same time, he wanted to check if like Stacy was around.
Chaerin kinda mentioned that VitaBlood was around.
It would be nice to quickly drop by and just say hi after all–that seemed fair. The two of them were friends in a way and he owed it to her for making his relationship with Lily and Chaerin work.
This meant the world to him.
"I'll go on ahead and go meet with my peers. Maybe see uh, if Emerys is around." Theodore said. "Maybe I can get her off your back."
"Wait, you'd do that?" Lukas raised a brow. "How'd you know that she was hounding me?"
"You're kinda popular, Mister Popular." Theodore chuckled and raised a hand. "See ya."
In a blink of an eye, the assassin disappeared into the crowd of guests and blended right away that Lukas almost thought that their conversation was nothing more but a dream.
Lukas glanced around and tried to spot the girls, but then eventually noticed the booth where both the bar owned by 'Daddy Jones' and the VitaBlood where and lo and behold, Stacy was there.
Unlike the rest of the guests, she was still dressed in her uniform but it didn't change what Lukas already kind of knew from the start. She was cute.
Lukas cleared his throat and looked around one last time before he finally started walking towards his destination.
Stacy looked up from her table and met his gaze. A small smile quirked on her lips as she looked at him up and down.
"Hey."
"Hey, yourself."
