Chapter 176: Chapter 172: The Interview

[3rd POV]

With the decision to join Kara on her little mission to see Lena and interview the woman

regarding her beliefs on the new bill that the president was passing in regards to aliens. This was entirely because of her relation to her brother, Lex Luthor. The man was notorious for hating aliens, so it was only natural to want to see what his sister would think, regarding a bill that would give them the same rights as humans.

Talia was more interested in meeting the woman due to her intelligence, and her company. The woman was one of the smartest people in this universe, and was exceptionally skilled in science. If Talia had her way, she'd absorb L-Corp as a subsidiary, but doing such a thing would be difficult. She already was in the process of absorbing the remains of Lord Technologies, which was under threat of going bankrupt after the jailing of Maxwell Lord, due to his various crimes.

The company itself was still worth billions, but thanks to her background, buying it wasn't going to be difficult. She had trillions of dollars to use for this sort of thing, and Lord's company wasn't the only one she was interested in. She was also planning on buying up other companies involving technology, medicine, insurance, and more. The latter being because she hated the awful practices of them, and wanted to give the people a genuinely good option that doesn't care more about money than lives.

Just as she planned on buying up various hospitals around the country, and eventually the world (where it was allowed to at least). She had a lot of power even in other countries, and with her wealth, buying up all sorts of companies should be easy enough. She could also do it through her subsidiaries, and even create separate companies with new false identities, should she need it.

Building up these companies and hospitals would be easy. She had a lot of technology that would be perfectly used in them, with the cradle being the most important of them all. As her cradles would be spread throughout her hospitals around the world, healing tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, and that number would rapidly grow.

Getting the permits and required papers to do such a thing was...not a fun task, but thanks to her clones, her connections, and talking with certain individuals (more like manipulating them) she had managed to get a lot of it done with, with her clones already spreading around in the process of buying up the Hospitals around the country, and beginning the process of looking into other businesses to buy up.

Her production of the cradles was more than enough to circulate them to all the hospitals she planned on buying, which was hundreds (if she got her way). She had thousands of cradles made, with more constantly being made for as long as she desired, her familiars watching over all the factories to ensure they were producing properly.

Currently Talia was walking alongside Kara towards L-Corp, ready to meet up with Lena Luthor for the interview.

"Do you think she'll oppose the Bill?" Kara asked Talia. She knew Lena decently enough, but she wondered what Talia would think on the matter.

"I doubt it. But she'll likely want to create something that can sense or indicate who is an alien and who isn't. Not a bad device on paper, until you realize the sort of effects that would have on society, and what it would be used for" Talia replied, knowing that Lena was making a device that would do exactly that. A device that would lead to a lot of issues for those that have already lived on Earth peacefully for years, basically ruining their lives, and leading to more racism between the two species.

She believed that the device could be useful in something like government groups, and stuff like that. But just for simply going to a grocery store? Yeah, no, that is a bad idea. For this universe at least, it'd be different in universes that were a bit more accepting of aliens.

"Really? She's making something like that? She has to know that will only cause more harm, right? Earth isn't ready for a device like that, not yet" Kara replied, surprised. She knew that eventually that could be an incredible device, but with the way things are now? No, it was simply a bad idea.

"I doubt she understands the consequences of her invention, but when we go up their and she tries showing it off - which I'm sure she will - then we can explain why that is a bad idea" Talia replied, causing Kara to nod in agreement, as that would be for the best.

"Now, lets go meet Lena"

Walking through the halls of L-Corp, Talia hummed 'Not a bad place. Their technology is pretty good, definitely better than any other company I've run into so far, even better than Lords. If I had my way, this place would become a subsidiary of mine, but that...will be long down the road'

Stopping in front of the entrance to Lena's office. Kara knocked on the door "Come in!" Lena spoke out, as they walked in.

"Ms Luthor" Kara began as they walked in. Lena smiled at Kara before noticing Talia standing besides her.

"Lena, please. It's good to see you again, Ms Danvers"

"Well If I'm calling you Lena-" "Kara it is. And who is this? Is she a fellow reporter?"

"Part owner actually, but I do dabble in reporting. I just thought it'd be interesting to see L- Corp in person. I'm Talia Morningstar, it's nice to meet you, Lena" Talia replied with a smile, shaking the woman's hand.

"Well, it's nice to meet you too, Talia. May I ask what you find so interesting about my company?" Lena couldn't help but ask, as Talia chuckled.

"Your company is quite impressive when it comes to your Scientific field. Especially your breakthroughs on energy and engineering. Making a space shuttle that can travel to space and back in less than an hour? Impressive" Talia replied, as she genuinely did find the company to be quite the impressive little thing, if it had better resources, then it would be even better. Lena looked surprised at the response, before smiling "I take it you are interested in the areas?"

"Very. I'm actually in the process of creating my own company" Talia replied with a smile, as Lena looked even more interested than before.

"And what will your company work in? If you don't mind my asking" Lena asked, as she was genuinely interested. The woman was seemingly intelligent, and if she could own half of a company like CatCo, then she could likely start up quite the company.

"Insurance, Medicine, Technology, many different things really. I plan on doing a expo on the devices that I will be selling, would you like to go? It should be within the next month or so" Talia replied, ending with a rather important question.

She had the expo planned a long time ago, as she knew it would be a good way of showing off what her company could create and do, as well as give the company a face, her face. She planned on showing off the Cradle at the Expo, and using a volunteer she Veteran that she planned on finding in the coming days, healing the individual in front of the world, giving the world a view of just what she could accomplish.

At the question, Lena couldn't help but hum "And what is it you plan on revealing there?"

"Spoilers. But, I can tell you that it will revolutionize medicine, amongst other things" Talia

replied.

She had planned on not only revealing the Cradle, but also her own line of phones, tablets, laptops, and all sorts of other useful pieces of technology. The best part is that all of it would be vastly superior to the alternatives, like Apple, Samsung, or any of the others.

"Oh? You can consider my interest peaked. I'll be sure to go. Once you have the date confirmed and the location decided, go ahead and send me an email" Lena said, handing Talia her card, on it was her business email and number.

"I'll make sure to do that. Now, I'll step back and let my girlfriend do her interviewing" Talia said, causing Lena to look surprised, while Kara blushed.

"Girlfriend? How scandalous" Lena said with an amused smirk on her face, watching Kara

pout.

"Hey, I'm the reporter here! No teasing" Kara huffed, causing Lena to giggle slightly while Talia just smiled in amusement.

"Alright then, Miss Reporter. I'm assuming you are here because of the Alien Amnesty Act? To ask how I feel on it due to my brother and his...beliefs"

"That is right, due to your brother being so notorious, I am here to ask what your take on the whole act is. Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable" Kara responded, feeling bad for having to ask this sort of question to Lena, who was nothing like Lex Luthor, at least, in terms of

beliefs.

At this question Lena couldn't help but smile "Let me show you something" She said, before getting to her feet and walking over to her a nearby small safe that was on top of a small

cabinet.

Pulling out a small device, it looked almost like a small grey mouse, but just glancing at it, Talia could tell it was a lot more advanced.

"What is it?" Kara asked, growing worried as she realized that Talia was right.

"It's an alien detection device that allows humans to find out who among them is not truly

one of them. It's not market-ready yet. I mean, we're still developing the prototype. But we aim to have this device in every store, in every town all across America" Lena said enthusiastically, not even thinking of the consequences such a device would bring.

"And how does it work?"

"It's just a simple skin test. Okay, let me show you what a negative response looks like" She

said, as she placed her finger on the device, watching as it blinked orange before turning

green, indicating she was human.

"See? Now you try" Lena said, only to stop as Talia began.

"Not a bad idea on paper, but have you thought of the consequences of creating such a

thing?" Talia asked, as the woman turned to her.

"Such as?"

"Forcing aliens out into the open. Increases in racism. Increased paranoia, undoing a lot of

the good that this Act will bring, ruining the lives of thousands of aliens that have lived peacefully amongst us for years, causing the deaths of innocent aliens around the country after racist humans find out about them. Ruining their livelihood as they are fired simply for being an alien, even if they are not evil and are living peacefully. Quite frankly, I could continue and give many more reasons on why this device is not a good idea, not yet" Talia replied, as Lena frowned.

"The device sounds good on paper, but you forget what world this is, and how human are. If

humans are still hating each other simply for the color of their skin, or which gender they love, do you really think they are ready to handle a device like this?" Talia continued, as she stared down Lena, the woman went silent at this.

"I-" "And while I understand that you are in the business of making money at L-Corp, I don't

think you want to do something that your brother Lex would be proud of, and even support.

Frankly this sounds like something he would whip up, not you" Talia cut her off, as Lena breathed in deeply.

"I...I didn't think of what sort of side effects such a device would have on the innocent aliens who live here. But...isn't it better for Americans to know who amongst them isn't actually human? Isn't that their right?"

"And isn't it the Aliens right to live peacefully and privately without having to worry about being hunted down and killed simply for not being human? I understand where you are coming from, Lena, but you need to think about what this would do to the Aliens that live

here peacefully as American citizens, and not so much about the money that you can make off of this. Afterall, that money would practically be blood money" Talia replied, as Lena went

silent again.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"I...I need to think about all of this. Can we get into the actual interview now, please?" Lena asked after a few moments of silence, uncomfortable as she began to realize that maybe, just maybe the device wasn't a good idea, not in this day and age at least.

"I think that'd be for the best" Kara said awkwardly after listening to the conversation, deciding to change the conversation into something less...uncomfortable. Talia silently listened as they began their interview, one thought on her mind.

...That could have gone better'
