Chapter 443: Chapter 443 A Very Contradictory Outcome

(Fifth update, thanks to Book Friend Huan for the reward)

Several students seated at the front immediately rushed up to support the teacher, calling out “Teacher, teacher!” continuously.

Although they were medical students, first-year students had only just begun learning the basic courses and practically had no understanding of medical knowledge. As such, they didn’t know what was happening and could only help raise the teacher up like ordinary people and call out anxiously.

“Move aside, quickly make way, let me take a look,” a man’s voice rang out from behind the students propping up the teacher.

The students turned their heads and saw Luo Ziling rushing over, so they quickly made space for him to come through.

After Ziling rushed over, he asked the students supporting the teacher to let go and had them allow the teacher to lie back down.

After a brief examination, Ziling determined that the math teacher was having an acute myocardial infarction, with very typical symptoms.

Without any hesitation, Ziling pulled out a small bag from his inside pocket, took out a pill, and then instructed the classmates to get some water.

A female student immediately brought over an unopened bottle of mineral water she had with her.

Prying open the teacher’s mouth and pinching his throat, Ziling, with the help of Cao Jianhui who had leaned in, fed the pill to the teacher.

After feeding a few sips of water for the teacher to swallow the pill, Ziling then asked the surrounding students loudly, “Who has a needle, even a pin will do.”

“I have one!” A female student hastily took off an ornament she was wearing, which had a long safety pin attached to it.

Ziling quickly took it, and while forcefully straightening it out, he also asked who had a lighter.

There were quite a few students who smoked secretly, and in a moment several lighters were passed to him.

Ziling used a lighter to heat the straightened pin until it was red-hot, regretting that he hadn’t brought his own needles for acupuncture that he typically used while coming to class that day.

He swore that from then on, he would always bring a bag to class, containing some emergency medicines and the acupuncture needles he used for treating illnesses.

Although the straightened safety pin wasn’t as convenient as the needles he normally used, it wasn’t too bad.

In front of the curious gaze of the other students, Ziling started his acupuncture treatment.

Targeting several key acupoints on the chest, Ziling inserted the needle in turn and manipulated it with his breath.

His rapid needling technique dazzled the other students, and they were amazed. They thought that Ziling’s random needling would surely result in the teacher being covered in blood, but to their surprise, there was not a single drop of blood where the needles had been inserted, just a tiny red dot. After Ziling had inserted a few needles, the teacher gradually opened his eyes, looked around at the students in bewilderment for a moment, and then suddenly sat up.

“What are you all doing?” he managed to speak, “It’s class time, why have you all come down here? Hey, why am I lying on the floor? Hurry up, get back, and continue the lesson!”

“Teacher, you had just fainted from a heart attack, and it was Ziling who revived you,” Cao Jianhui took it upon himself to explain as the class president, narrating the recent events: “He administered medicine that alleviated the heart attack and also performed acupuncture on you. Oh, I forgot to mention, Ziling comes from a family of doctors, and they are quite renowned. Therefore, he has been learning medicine since he was young, and his medical skills are quite impressive. Lucky for us he was here; otherwise, we would have been in trouble.”

After explaining the situation to everyone, Cao Jianhui smiled at the math teacher and said, “Teacher, how are you feeling now? We were really scared just now. When the students saw you faint during class, they all gathered around, and someone has already called the emergency number. I believe the ambulance doctors will arrive shortly.”

Seriously, Cao Jianhui really has the makings of a class leader; at a time like this, he could explain things with such composure and calm. If it were someone else, they really couldn’t do it, not even Luo Ziling.

Hearing what Cao Jianhui said, the math teacher looked somewhat skeptical.

At this moment, Luo Ziling also spoke up, “Teacher, you just had a myocardial infarction. You must have had symptoms of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, right? Just now I gave you medicine, which has the effect of relieving heart disease. I also hit some acupoints near your heart to relieve the symptoms of insufficient myocardial blood supply. If nothing unexpected happens, you should be out of danger now. How do you feel yourself?”

Just then, the sound of a siren came from outside, followed by a commotion heading toward the classroom. Everyone turned to look, and a few people in white coats rushed in.

“Who had a heart attack and fainted?” a doctor carrying an emergency medical kit asked urgently.

“Our teacher,” several students answered in unison.

Cao Jianhui helped the teacher stand up and said with a smile to the ambulance medics, “Doctor, our teacher suddenly fainted during class. Fortunately, this student here knows medicine and had medication on him. He gave our teacher medicine and provided treatment, and our teacher regained consciousness.”

After hearing what Cao Jianhui had said and Luo Ziling’s explanation, both the math teacher who had just fainted and the ambulance medics believed what had happened. However, the medics still responsibly suggested that the math teacher go to the hospital for a checkup, as myocardial infarction is not a trivial matter.

The math teacher, who felt quite well, was reluctant to go to the hospital for a checkup because he hadn’t finished his class. But after persuasion from the students and insistence from the doctor, he eventually agreed. Cao Jianhui and Luo Ziling also followed the ambulance to the hospital.

Being an affiliated hospital of Yan University Medical School, the math teacher received priority in treatment and examination upon arrival at the hospital.

The examination results quickly came out, showing that the math teacher had indeed suffered a serious myocardial infarction.

A series of indicators reflecting heart function, such as NT-proBNP, troponin, and the enzyme spectrum for the heart, were all significantly abnormal. Yet, the ECG and the ejection fraction of the heart were normal, which confused the receiving doctors.

NT-proBNP, troponin, and the enzyme spectrum of the heart are the “gold standards” for diagnosing myocardial infarction; high levels of these indicators signify that the patient’s symptoms of myocardial infarction are severe.

However, the most direct indicators such as ECG and heart ejection fraction were normal — an contradictory set of results.

The only explanation was that the patient had just experienced a serious myocardial infarction, but the symptoms were relieved. The situation of the patient was very good, as if he had never had a myocardial infarction. The markers of heart damage: NT-proBNP, troponin, and the enzyme spectrum indicating heart muscle damage, were still rising and had not fallen yet.

However, such situations are very rare.

In the end, several authorities from cardiology were called in for a consultation, and the result was that the math teacher had indeed experienced a serious myocardial infarction, but after effective treatment, the symptoms were completely relieved.

If myocardial infarction is treated promptly, the patient’s recovery can indeed be swift.

Yet, the symptoms were relieved even before the patient arrived at the hospital, all thanks to Luo Ziling’s self-made medicine and the effectiveness of the acupuncture treatment he provided.

This surprised the cardiology authorities.
