Chapter 200
As her belly grew larger, Song Luokui still had to busy herself with her graduation thesis and taking graduation photos. However, Song Luokui felt she looked too unattractive now, so she didn't take any photos, only taking a few pictures with her family.
In her room, Song Luokui was sitting at her desk typing on her computer when the baby in her belly suddenly moved, then moved again. Song Luokui exclaimed in surprise, and Chi Yu immediately rushed over, asking, "What's wrong? Are you uncomfortable somewhere?"
Song Luokui rubbed her belly, saying, "It's nothing, they just suddenly moved."
Chi Yu reached out to touch her belly, and after a moment, he felt the movement. Both of them were delighted.
"Babies, don't disturb mommy. Be good," Chi Yu said, speaking to the belly.
As soon as he finished speaking, the babies stopped moving.
Song Luokui said, "Looks like they listen to daddy."
Chi Yu replied, "If they don't behave, we'll give them a spanking when they come out."
Song Luokui laughed and said, "I'm afraid you won't have the heart to do it."
Chi Yu responded, "If they make you angry, I definitely will."
Perhaps because of the twin pregnancy, Song Luokui's pregnancy was quite difficult. At night, she would either get leg cramps or need to get up to use the bathroom. Sometimes she felt hungry, and other times she inexplicably felt depressed.
There were even times when she would suddenly start crying for no apparent reason. When they went to see the doctor, they were told it was due to hormonal changes.
Chi Yu felt distressed seeing her struggle, even though they had a nutritionist, housekeeper, and doctor at home, along with various other professionals. The difficulty of pregnancy was something only she could truly feel.
By seven months, her belly was already very large, and the doctor said there might be a chance of premature birth, so Song Luokui was directly admitted to the hospital.
She stayed in a VIP room, with doctors coming to check on her every day. Now, Chi Yu would leave work early every day to come to the hospital, and Song Luosheng would also come by after work.
At night, Chi Yu would stay to keep her company, but Song Luokui felt he was working too hard. "Let the aunt stay with me, you need to rest well so you can earn money for me," she said.
Chi Yu replied, "It's fine, it's just for this period of time."
Labor started in the early hours of the morning. Song Luokui woke up feeling a pain in her belly, but she didn't call out because she had been experiencing occasional pains recently, which the doctor said was normal.
Chi Yu was sleeping soundly on the other side. He had been bringing his laptop to work alongside her recently, as she was close to giving birth. Chi Yu had cancelled all business trips, opting for video conferences instead. He wouldn't go, or he'd send someone else in his place. He was afraid that if he went away, Song Luokui might go into labor.
At first, Song Luokui thought it was the same kind of contraction as before, but then she realized the pain was intensifying. "Hmm," she groaned in pain, and Chi Yu seemed to hear the sound and suddenly woke up, asking, "What's wrong?"
Song Luokui was in so much pain she could barely speak, "I... might... be... in labor."
"I'll... I'll go get the doctor right away," Chi Yu said.
Chi Yu quickly opened the door and ran out. Song Luokui wanted to tell him he could just press the button at the head of the bed, but she was in too much pain.
Soon, the doctor arrived, examined her, and said, "She's in labor, quickly take her to the delivery room!"
Song Luokui was quickly wheeled into the delivery room. Chi Yu wanted to follow but was left outside. Actually, he could have applied to be present during the delivery, but Song Luokui didn't agree. She felt that if Chi Yu was there, she would be more vulnerable and distracted.
Chi Yu kept peering through the door for a long time before remembering to call the others.
Sheng Rong was startled awake by the ringing phone in the middle of the night. She quickly got dressed and went out. Aunt Gui had already left her room to answer the phone.
Sheng Rong went downstairs, saying, "I'll answer it." As soon as she picked up the phone, she heard Chi Yu's somewhat panicked voice: "Mom, Luokui is about to give birth."
Sheng Rong took a deep breath, "Don't panic, don't panic! Has the doctor arrived?"
Chi Yu seemed at a loss, "Yes, Luokui has been taken to the delivery room."
By this time, Song Moqian and Song Luosheng had woken up and left their rooms. Sheng Rong said, "I'll be right there, everything will be fine."
"Okay."
Sheng Rong first told Song Moqian and Song Luosheng, then called the in-laws. At around two in the morning, everyone arrived at the hospital.
When they arrived, Chi Yu was still peering through the door on tiptoes. "How is it? How is it?" they asked.
Chi Yu shook his head, "I don't know, Luokui has been in there for a long time." He was very worried.
"It's alright, it's alright, don't worry," Yan Sui comforted her son. Although everyone was a bit anxious, those used to handling big situations remained calm on the surface.
Mainly because it was twins and premature, everyone was a bit worried.
After what seemed like an eternity, as the sun began to rise outside, the sound of crying finally came from the delivery room.
A nurse came out holding two babies, asking, "Who are the patient's family members?"
Chi Yu immediately stepped forward, saying, "Me, I am." The others also gathered around, looking at the babies in the nurse's arms. Newborn babies aren't typically beautiful, but in everyone's eyes, these two angels were the most adorable babies in the world!
"This is the brother, and this is the sister. Take a good look, okay?" the nurse told everyone.
Chi Yu glanced towards the delivery room, asking, "Where's my wife? Is my wife okay?"
The nurse replied, "She's fine, she'll be out soon. Please wait a moment."
"Okay, okay. As long as she's alright." Chi Yu finally relaxed completely, only then realizing his back was soaked with sweat.
Soon after, Song Luokui was wheeled out. Chi Yu immediately went to her side, and seeing Song Luokui sleeping, he became worried again, "Is she really okay? Why isn't she waking up?" Chi Yu had watched many videos before and remembered that some women were awake when they came out after giving birth.
The doctor said, "The mother is too tired and has fallen asleep."
Chi Yu was finally reassured again.
When Song Luokui woke up, she saw Chi Yu staring at her. She smiled at him, and Chi Yu suddenly gripped her hand tightly, lowering his head to rest against hers, saying, "You're finally awake. Let's not have any more children, I was so scared."
"I'm fine," Song Luokui said, patting his head, but giving birth was indeed exhausting.
Because she had twins, Song Luokui stayed in the hospital for postpartum care for over forty days. During this time, she didn't need to handle anything related to the babies; she only needed to focus on recovering.
Everyone wanted her to be happy, fearing she might experience postpartum depression. Chi Yu even took several days off work to stay with her, and later only worked half days before returning home to accompany her.
By the time she was discharged from the hospital, everything at home had been prepared: the nursery, all kinds of baby essentials, four nannies, and even additional bodyguards specifically hired to protect the children.
Back at home, Song Luokui and Chi Yu each held a child as they took a group photo with everyone. Looking at the picture and then at the children, Song Luokui suddenly broke into a smile.
Chi Yu asked her, "What is it?"
Song Luokui shook her head, "Nothing, I just feel very happy."
She had changed her family's fate, and she had even married and had children with this man. How unexpected was that?
Chi Yu smiled at her, putting an arm around her, "I feel very blessed too."
The children sandwiched between them thought: ...Go ahead and show your affection, but don't use us as the filling in your sandwich!
