Chapter 164 Secret Meeting

"You are too tense, Aion," Artemisia said while they were flying to the capital. "Even I can tell that you are ready to fight, but maybe this is just some sort of mistake."

"Well, that is not my fault," Aion said. "I wasn't the one who wrote a letter without giving me the reason to return to the capital. Besides, lately, the atmosphere in the kingdom has been rather weird."

Aion wanted to believe that his father wouldn't fall for cheap tricks and that he wasn't behind anything suspicious. Still, he couldn't help but worry. All of Aion's instincts were telling him that there was something weird regarding the whole situation…

On the next day, they arrived in the capital at noon, but Aion watched the whole place for a while from above. People seemed to be living their lives as usual. Putting his modesty aside, if someone wanted to find him, a few guys wouldn't be enough. Not even a few battalions would if he decided to go all out with magic. Still, Aion was forced to head down since his worries and suspicions were starting to affect his mother.

When they landed in the garden of his former home, Aion immediately checked the surroundings with magic, the whole place was searched, but he didn't find anything out of place. His father noticed their arrival and headed to the garden. It seemed that he was thinking too much lately. He sighed.

"You two arrived quite quickly, and… you are pretty guarded," Lexus said while frowning. "You grew a lot in the last few months, Aion. You are as tall as me now. I guess doing so much paperwork, you still didn't neglect your training."

Aion was already 1.8 meters tall, just like his father, but that was the last thing he was interested in at the moment. That being said, his father wasn't a man of many expressions, so one could tell when he was genuinely surprised.

"Father… what was this summoning about?" Aion asked.

"Those guys showed up, and they were asking for you. They won't say anything until you show up," Lexus said.

"Those guys?" Aion frowned.

"You know, those guys you mentioned," Lexus said. "The members of the Herandins family."

"They are here, and they called for me? Why?" Aion frowned.

"That is what everyone is wondering," Lexus said. "His Majesty invited them to stay on the castle as guests, and they have been there for the last week."

Aion thought that they would show up at some point, but he didn't imagine that they would call him like that. Still, suddenly appearing on his port after the king's death would make sense. To avoid problems, they would try to make things as clear as possible… which was suspicious considering that they were almost like a ghost kingdom in the last few hundreds of years.

"They have some nerve to make me travel this far without telling me why…" Aion said.

"Sauros Heradins said that he has your payment for helping him… he also never mentioned the incident where he was captured," Lexus said. "I can't tell if he forgot about that or if he is planning to make those involved pay for that somehow. Still, they passed a good feeling when they were talking about you, and they were always asking things regarding your youth."

"That is weird…" Aion frowned.

"Did the girl ask most of the questions?" Artemisia asked.

"No, just a few," Lexus said.

"I told you, Aion," Artemisia said. "She is already head over heels for you."

"Mom…" Aion facepalmed and then sighed.

Some people say that even doting parents have limits, and Aion would say to them that his mother didn't know such limits. Regardless, it was about time to learn a few more things from them in exchange for that hassle.

"This should be a short meeting, so why send someone to manage the territory?" Aion asked.

"They asked for that once they heard that you were the lord of one of the territories on the border," Lexus said.

Aion didn't know if their information gathering was good or garbage… they learned about Artemisia's kidnapping soon and began to move. One would think that perhaps they had spies infiltrated in most nations, but then again, it didn't make sense considering their silver hair.

"I am going to rest in that room while you all talk," Artemisia said.

"They called for you as well, and His Majesty granted you the chance to enter the castle," Lexus said.

"Even when his father forbade of even living in this house before? I feel like he is going against the teachings of his father a bit too soon…" Artemisia said.

If Vangel accepted it way too easily, Aion could imagine that he did that to start a good relationship with them. They had crazy powers, and they probably had more knowledge than any nation in that world. Their influence couldn't be denied.

"To avoid problems, their visit is being kept as a secret, and so will be your visit to the castle," Lexus said. "I will tell them about your arrival, and we will go to the castle."

All parts involved had something to hide there, so it wasn't surprising that such a decision was made. Still, Aion felt that those two siblings were involving too many people in the affairs that involved the god and the goddess of that world.

"What is done is done," Aion thought. "I just have to consider this once things in the future are affected by this somehow. So far, that family has been pretty good at keeping secrets, but I can't give that much trust to the current generation."

Aion and Artemisia headed to their rooms and then rested until the time of the meeting. Both of them were curious about what was going to happen, so they didn't manage to rest all that much. Both of them had a feeling that things would change forever after.
