Chapter 150 Recklessness
From the enemy's perspective, Aion was as slow as he could have been. He charged without making the old man feel threatened. Thanks to that, when Aion swung his shield at the enemy's head, he just moved away a bit to dodge it. Aion kept swinging his shield from one side to the other like it was the only thing he could do.
The old man got pissed… Aion was supposed to know that such a thing wouldn't work. The difference in speed was that high… The old man had no idea why, but Aion's only good point was his endurance… and one couldn't win just by being able to withstand being hit… Life wasn't that easy.
Eventually, the old man got pissed and then dodged to the side and when Aion finished the swing of his attack, he punched the shield with all his might, making it fly to the distance.
When that happened, the same wound on Aion's neck began to pour more blood than before… The old man knew Aion hadn't been attacked like that, and yet the wound appeared… It wasn't like the damage had been deep or like Aion caused it to make him hesitate, but that didn't scare the enemy at all.
With his short sword alone in hand, Aion changed his stance… and held the weapon with both hands. He wasn't used to that, so the enemy could see that his stance was awkward. The old man prepared another straight and charged, but then he saw Aion moving forward as well. If it weren't for his speed, he wouldn't have noticed Aion aiming for his head with his sword… Aion agreed to be hit directly, as long as he could get the enemy's head.
Still, in the end, Aion's plan failed. At the last moment. The old man moved to the side, and then his sword hit nothing. At the same time, the old man hit Aion's wrists with a powerful punch and made him drop his sword. While he was flinching, the enemy grabbed Aion's neck with both hands and began to strangle him.
"That was disappointing," the old man said.
"I… still have… one… for you…" Aion muttered.
The old man frowned. Despite the situation, Aion's blue eyes still had a fighting spirit in them. His blue eyes… It had been so long since the old man saw them that he had forgotten about it. When he recalled what they meant, it was too late… he felt a sharp pain in both arms, and then he lost the strength in them. When he looked at it, the old man saw his arms… they had been cut off by something sharp, but Aion's sword was still on the ground. It was at that moment that the old man saw Aion's arms being covered by lightning…
The old man never saw anything like that, but he couldn't let that end, even though he lost both arms. He still had his legs and he just had to wait until that energy dispersed… he jumped backward with all his might and then created some distance between him and Aion. However, he found the enemy's hand is pointed at him, and from the left hand, a lightning bolt flew to the enemy's head.
Even with his crazy speed, the old man was unable to dodge the attack, and when he was hit, he was paralyzed for a full second… Aion used that chance to approach and then increased his speed with Chaotic Punch. In the next moment, Aion's left hand pierced and crossed the enemy's left chest.

When the body fell in front of him, Aion quickly regained his focus and began to meditate. He used too much mana… as soon as he had some, he healed the wound in his chest, and then he used it on his arms. Although he had planned to take the enemy's arms like that, he didn't plan that his arms would be burned almost to a crisp. He couldn't feel them either… using that kind of technique was dangerous when one didn't have absolute control over their magic powers.
After healing his arms a bit, the sense of touch returned. Still, Aion didn't have time to celebrate, it seemed that Artemisia was only attacked two times, but he couldn't waste any more time.
Aion stored the body in his inventory and then checked the bracers. He could feel some magic power after equipping them… it was the type of magic relic that could store mana from the environment and then used it at full power while ignoring the magic strength of the user.
"Charging energy… this might be useful," Aion thought.
Aion put the magic bracers on his back and then activated it. As expected, a boulder began to fly in the direction he had pointed, but since Aion's back was right in front of it, he felt like it was about to split him in half. Still, thanks to that, he crossed five kilometers in a matter of seconds.
The bracers only had enough mana to fire four more of those, and Aion figured out that it would take a day to get fully charged. Regardless, he was practically at the base of the mountains… now he just had to check all of them.
As if that wasn't troublesome enough, Aion could see many packs of flying monsters flying around the mountains. That was the worst-case scenario… Aion couldn't change his class, and it was a melee one. His only option was to use magic, but that would decrease his search speed…
Nevertheless, Aion had no time to hesitate… he just began to fly and look for any signs of temples, and soon enough, the monsters approached… it didn't seem like he would have time to rest any time soon. His goal seemed so close and yet so far...
