…
Aion crushed all of them with his ice magic. He was so pissed that he would throw the bodies into a sewer if he could find anyone… that kind of scum truly deserved to die. Regardless, Aion opened a hole in the ground and then buried them, and left the town. He didn't have time or energy to waste with pieces of shit, so he worked really hard to calm down and clear his mind. He wasn't expecting much in such a country, but things were a lot worse than expected.
After clearing his mind, Aion began to think of what he had learned. His mother never mentions temples or the possible locations of the origins of her people. Still, when Aion thought of temples and mountains, he had a feeling that those were the perfect places to offer sacrifices to the gods. That was why he felt a cold in his stomach.
"I never found information about that kind of thing, so I guess it didn't travel far, and the people from here had no reason to spread what they knew to others," Aion thought.
Aion had no idea how long that country was, but he had heard that there were at least thirty feudal lords. That made him think that it was at least on the same size as the Zaera kingdom. So, he would need at least one week to cross it… Aion didn't know why they weren't trying to do anything with his mother aside from letting her sleep, but he knew that he couldn't waste seven days crossing that country.
On the next day, Aion noticed some changes when he passed above some cities and towns. Although he could fly faster than ravens, he found tight security in those places. Maybe it was a coincidence, but Aion didn't want to drop his guard based on those uncertainties.
"That was within my plans, but I should avoid all of those places…" Aion thought. "I don't have time to make an enemy out of everyone here, and I also can't afford to make an entire army bother us once we begin the way back home."
While Aion was traveling, he thought of how he could improve Inner Force as well. He would need that since he had no idea if he could rescue his mother and protect her at the same with the power of the Guardian class. Thinking about that made his deal with the worries since it was better to think of how to increase his chances instead of just worrying endlessly about the failure.
After three days, Aion didn't make much progress just by thinking, and around that time, he found the largest territory in that country. It was impressive since it was at least two hundred kilometers wide and long, and the whole territory was walled. At the same time, it expanded and absorbed other territories after some battles with the neighbors. Aion hoped to see a castle in the middle of it, but he only found a large city, one that was far more developed than all the others in that country. It wasn't as luxurious as the capital of the Zaera kingdom, but it was at least that much organized.
"It seems that the most influential leader here knows the balance between development and expansion," Aion thought. "Balance and expansion, huh…"
Aion suddenly had an idea about how to improve Inner Force. However, it wasn't something he could do now since he needed all the energy possible to move as fast as he could… when the life of his mother was on the line, Aion couldn't take any chances. Still, Aion decided to keep thinking about it and try to improve the idea…
Two days later, Aion noticed other changes in the country… he found some groups heading East. The same direction he was going… perhaps some enemies were attacking the border on that side. Still, once again, Aion didn't want to think that it was just a coincidence.
"Too many mercenaries are heading in that direction… even if they are looking for me, they shouldn't know who I am," Aion thought. "Besides, it is hard to believe that they know about the survivors of the Mirelis Kingdom."
If they were going to get in his way, then Aion would deal with them, and that was all. He didn't have to think too much about it… he was planning to take down a few to free the area of his mother's hometown, after all. That would be a nice warm-up.
After another day, Aion finally reached an area where he could see some mountains in the distance. It seemed that things would work well, Despite his many worries. Still, he was forced to stop because he was almost out of mana.
"There is a territory ahead of a big town… I don't like this," Aion thought. "Taking a roundabout route will only make me waste time, and I will just stop and meditate."
If Aion could run in a straight line, he would try to cross some extra miles, but it would be too risky in that situation. Besides, he passed the mercenaries' groups and left them behind yesterday. They must be at least four hours behind him…
That being said, Aion decided to recover just enough mana to cross the area instead of all his mana since he had a bad feeling about that.
Once again, Aion's instincts didn't disappoint him. While he was meditating, he saw something approaching from the town ahead… it was moving pretty fast…
"... Shit, just my luck," Aion thought and began to fly.
The enemy was running toward him in a straight line, and that physical ability was inhuman… it was another person who had beyond reasonable strength. It was another mutated individual… Aion decided to run away, but then suddenly, a massive boulder was sent flying to his head…
