Chapter 137 Lost Prey
Aion's spear pierced the enemy's throat, finishing him before anything else could happen. Truth be told, Aion expected that his arrow would do the job, but as expected of a better archer… Still, when he landed, Aion felt a terrible impact on his legs… falling from that high when his class wasn't endurance base made him pay a high toll… again, he had to endure it and don't show any weakness to make sure that the enemies wouldn't get a second wind.

…
This time, Aion was forced to change his class and use some coins to increase his magic and recover his mana from turning the enemy into a death knight. These assholes sure caused him a lot of trouble, but the fact that they only increased his strength afterward made them a bit more bearable…
When the dust curtain dissipated, enemies and allies only found Aion standing where Lerg was supposed to be. They didn't know how to react since it was impossible to tell what had happened.
"Spread the word! The enemies' commanders have been slain!" Jagger shouted.
Aion wasn't good at that kind of thing, so he felt thankful that Jagger understood what had happened… more or less, and then decided to take the rein in things. Regardless, the enemies' morale decreased, and the allies skyrocketed… without their leaders, they still could fight, but not in the same way as before, so the flow of the battle began to change as they were pushed by the wave of motivation.
"You took down my prey…" Jagger said while furrowing his eyebrows.
"You didn't finish him as fast as we had planned… you can only blame yourself for that," Aion said.
"... It can't be helped…" Jagger said after clicking his tongue. "Anyway, I have to finish things here."
Jagger began to command because Richard was nowhere in sight… again, Aion didn't expect anything from that guy, but he still was disappointed. Putting that aside, Aion felt like he should sleep for a few days, but he forced himself to move back to the city and help in the final part of the battle. Also, he couldn't let his sisters be put in danger after reaching this far.
Aion crossed the battlefield as fast as possible while he felt that the pain in his back alone would kill him. Fortunately, he only saw the enemies retreating once they heard about their commanders. Some of the mages still were using magic, but most of them had retreated… Aion sighed in relief when he saw his sisters safe and sound.
"Hmm… I should leave them alone," Aion thought. "I can't let them feel like I underestimated them and wanted to keep them safe. It might also be problematic for them if I interact with them too much in this kind of situation. They didn't show up much until now, but I bet many soldiers around dislike my lineage."
In any case, a lot of soldiers outside the city were still alive, and while they were trying to run away in all directions, they had to be hunted down in order not to regroup and attack nearby villages and towns… the battle was over, but the work was just starting.
When morning came, Aion was feeling like shit… over time, he managed to heal his wound time and time again, but he could speed the healing process that much. He wasn't that skilled at healing magic. Besides, forcing his body to heal faster was the same as forcing it to use the nutrients that it had to repair the cells, thus making him angry and even more tired.
"Come to think of it… I never tried to make my weapons absorb human bodies," Aion thought while looking around and seeing the last group that he hunted.
Aion was so tired that he was even considering that… Still, while he felt that he could and should turn enemies into skeletons and death knights, he didn't think that it was a good idea to process human bodies and make the weapons absorb the parts… for the sake of his mental health.
"Well, their weapons and armor are another matter altogether," Aion thought.
Powered by his greed for materials, Aion did that until the end of the day when no one was looking. After that, he returned to the camp and then saw the people moving back to the city. As it turned out, all the soldiers that left the place to join the battle were the only ones inside. Aside from a few workers that escaped when the news about the commanders spread around, most of the enemy soldiers had been decimated.
"This will be a hard defeat to shallow for the Rosberg kingdom…" Vanessa said when Aion approached.
"I hope that that moron won't try to do anything stupid after this…" Aion said while looking at Richard leading the main group back to his city.
He didn't do much during the battle, but now he was leading the group like he was the brilliant mastermind and the reason for their victory… it sure was annoying, but Aion was too tired for that shit.
"Don't worry about it. We will give an accurate report to the king," Vanessa said.
"As if I care about his recognition," Aion said. "I am more worried about the possibility that this kingdom might start another war now that the neighboring kingdom lost so many soldiers."
"We lost a lot as well, and the guys on the other side are still fighting," Vanessa said. "His Majesty won't do anything for many years, and he is too tired to start another war."
More like he was too old for that, but Vanessa was being respectful. If someone would do something, that someone would be Vangel, and Aion had yet to imagine what that guy was thinking most of the time.
