The Rejected Alpha's Vengeance

Chapter 463 What Was Real Then?

[SICARIO]

"One more word about Awuor being eliminated and I will wring both your necks, I swear it," Mbali groaned as she sat up, much to the shock of the knights in the room. She looked pissed and like she was truly going to keep her word.

Then again, she was Jabali Lihle and they had no donut that she would keep her word. But would that help with their current predicament?

Would it help them understand whatever the fuck was going on at the moment, or was this just another reminder that no matter what they did, there was always going to be some setbacks?

"You're alive?" Rukiya asked while Elidie rushed to Mabli and gave her a hug, much to the displeasure of the Lycan warrior. But then that didn't seem to matter to Elodie because she held on a little longer until Mbali hugged her back.

It was almost like they were living in a dysfunctional system whose justice was still pending in the woods. Perhaps at the end of the day, they would manage to sneak a win into the mess, right?

"No shit, Sherlock, and what the fuck are you doing in Sicario? Aren't you supposed to be out there with Hawi and Malika fighting? What the hell is going on and even better what the fuck am I doing in Sicario?" Mbali asked as she pulled back from the hug.

She couldn't believe that this was actually happening. It was nightmarish for her, the warrior who had decided her life in the service of the crazy psycho from Sicario.

Right now, she wasn't to be here but out there with her sister serving Hawi and yet somehow she was back home, a reality that pissed her more than she could ever imagine.

This wasn't the plan.

This wasn't the reason they had endured the three months without any food and water in their path to the west.

"Hell, if I know, but I suspect that mate of yours. I don't know what the hell she is planning, but it doesn't look too good for anyone out there. So perhaps you can enlighten us?" Rukiya asked as she stared at Mbali whose skeptical face was still staring at her.

All of this was not making sense, but then they were way past excuses and what-ifs. They were in a war they demanded they show up and there 3was no point in them trying to hold out if they couldn't make use of their abilities.

"Amina? No wonder I can't feel Malika's bond. What the hell did that skimpy ass bitch do to me this time?" Mbali growled as she subconsciously touched her sibling's mark.

It was fading slowly and Mbali wasn't about to let that happen. She had sworn to make Malika pay for not coming for her all those years, but not like this, not when they were at war with forces that made no one's life any easier.

This wasn't the king of the place she wanted to fight with her sister and it was more than obvious to her. Perhaps she would figure it out along the way too, right?

Or maybe this was her chance at a life that didn't have madness but then as a warrior, it was the madness that kept her going. That was the only thing that ever made sense to her and she needed to work through that and find her way back to the battlefield.

"So, it is her. Hawi sent me through for some reason, probably to protect me, only for me to come and find Adolf here, not to mention, Hudhayfah knew Adolf was alive the entire time," Rukiya rambled on.

They looked at her like she was the only one who didn't know that. Maybe she was reading them wrong, but surely if they shared in her sentiments about being left out when it came to Adolf then they could have started rambling too, right?

This wasn't how shit was supposed to go for them and it made no sense whatsoever. But what if that was the main intention of the movement this entire time? What if that was why they were all here?

"You all knew he was alive?" Rukiya asked, the betrayal looming on her face as she tried to understand what was so important that they had to hide that from her. Then again, she was the alpha that led Adolf. She should have known that Adolf was alive.

"Well, you're his alpha. We figured maybe you didn't want to talk about him being alive, and we didn't want to reopen the wounds we all were trying to heal even in the middle of the chaos," Mbali defended and Elodie nodded in response.

"Grief doesn't come with a manual and finding him alive was not something that we wanted to ask you about. So, we were going to wait until you are ready to talk about him," Elodie added.

Rukiya stared at them like they were not being serious with her. Surely they couldn't have hidden that on the assumption that she was his friend and that she would be able to figure it out on her own right?

Weren't they supposed to be a team? But even if they were, Rukiya understood what Elodie meant by grief not coming with a manual. Hawi gloved differently when she lost her mother and Rukiya didn't even bother to grieve openly when her mother died.

They all had different ways, so that was something that she couldn't be faulted for. But then was asking her about it so hard for them that they didn't even consider the possibility that she didn't really know shit about Adolf being out there and alive then?

"Wow. You people are truly something else. Who else was in on this? Hawi too?" Rukiya asked angrily and they looked at her as if to tell her that it was impossible. But even that didn't make sense. Hawi had been the one to send her home, right?

"She doesn't know Adolf is alive. She couldn't have known because she was always busy strategizing with Malika and there was no way that she rested well, even with you by her side," Elodie defended and that got Rukia even more confused.

"Malika?" Rukiya asked softly as she sat back, she had been pacing when Mbali spoke but now she couldn't help but think that there was more than she knew and more than they all understood.

"She is her protector. Of course, she knew that Adolf was alive. However, she didn't say shit to Hawi, so that isn't Hawi's fault. And what are you doing here in Sicario? Shouldn't you be helping Hawi out there?" Mbali asked intently.

She had seen Hawi and Rukiya fight side by side and she down they were a formidable force that not even the gods could try to fuck with. This wasn't how Hawi would have handled the situation with Rukiya.

It made no sense because whenever Hawi was, Rukiya always was. But then taking Rukiya home wasn't something that would be for the benefit of Hawi, because the woman would spend her time worrying about her mate's safety.

"She sent me home, remember?" Rukiya bit back angrily, before realization dawned on her.

"Hawi didn't send me home… It was…"n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Malika," Hudhayfah concluded, making the women turn to look at him.
