Chapter 40
C40 – Innate Ability
Upon hearing the elder’s words, a buzz of conversation filled the study.
Yun Hai pondered deeply before giving a reluctant nod.
Unexpectedly, he realized that sometimes weakness could be advantageous. At the very least, they needn’t fear the covetous gaze of the powerful upon their family’s assets.
After spending some time with Yun Tiantian, Yun Haoyan excused himself to learn more about pill refining and made his way to Elder Miao’s workshop.
As soon as the door shut, Elder Miao, who had just been in the role of a teacher, bowed deeply to Yun Haoyan and said,
“Young Master Yun, I’m in your debt.”
“There’s no trouble at all,” Yun Haoyan dismissed with a wave of his hand, then fixed his gaze on Elder Miao. “Are you prepared?”
“I am ready.”
“Good. I’ll begin suppressing the toxin.”
Yun Haoyan nodded, channeling the Pill God Body to elevate his power to its peak.
Placing his palm on Elder Miao’s back, Yun Haoyan’s touch was akin to a searing brand.
Elder Miao stifled a groan, biting down hard on his teeth.
Moments later, Yun Haoyan lifted his hand from Elder Miao’s back.
“My thanks to you!”
Yun Haoyan responded with a nod, explaining,
“This will only keep the toxin at bay temporarily, for a maximum of two years.
After that, the poison will fully unleash, and your survival will be impossible.
But if we can find the antidote within these two years, I can completely eradicate the poison from your system.
Also, avoid any combat. The pills I’ve crafted for you can restore you to the Pill Emperor Realm each time you take one.
Yet, they will also accelerate the toxin’s release, shortening the suppression period.”
This was beyond his expectations; he had never encountered the likes of the Poison Dragon Pill in his past life, nor anticipated its formidable nature.
“To have this much is more than enough for me,” Elder Miao replied, unfazed.
“You should use the pills sparingly. They may temporarily bolster your strength, but the cost is too great,” Yun Haoyan advised, shaking his head with a sense of resignation before adding firmly, “Rest assured, I will find a solution within two years.”
“It’s all good. Finding it would be my good fortune, and not finding it, well, that’s just my lot in life!
I’m grateful for the long life I’ve already had.”
Elder Miao reflected with a sigh.
As a Rogue Cultivator, his mindset was far more elevated than that of a typical Martial Cultivator.
Yun Haoyan, seeing Elder Miao’s acceptance, nodded in agreement and said with a smile,
“Let’s not dwell on that. Just remember to steer clear of that type of pill, and you’ll be fine.
Now, let’s get started on your pill refining lessons!”
Elder Miao’s excitement was palpable upon hearing that Yun Haoyan was going to instruct him in alchemy.
After all, his primary reason for joining the Yun family was to learn from Yun Haoyan himself.
He had assumed that Yun Haoyan would merely let him observe his pill refining. He never anticipated receiving personal tutelage.
With that, Elder Miao settled into a cross-legged position, eager to absorb every word of Yun Haoyan’s teaching.
Yun Haoyan offered a reassuring smile, seated himself opposite Elder Miao, and began to speak earnestly.
“Since we don’t have any high-grade Spiritual Plants for a demonstration, I’ll start with the fundamentals.
There are quite a few misconceptions about the basics out there.
Elder Miao, have you awakened your innate ability?”
“I have indeed. It happened when I was advancing to the Pill Sect. My innate ability is of the Earth level.
It enhances my pill refining—increasing the speed and success rate.”
Elder Miao responded confidently.
While others might be unfamiliar with innate abilities, the man before him was a more accomplished pill refiner than he was. How could he be unaware?
By revealing the nature of his innate ability, Elder Miao was certain that Yun Haoyan would understand all there was to know.
