Chapter 346: Chapter 287, I Like the Tender White Ones (Asking for Monthly Pass and Recommendation Tickets!)

On the carriage.

Wu Heng had changed into a blue-gray suit, wearing his armor underneath, bulging.

Opposite him sat the steward assistant ‘Moya,’ dressed in plain clothes with an added hat to conceal her elf ears.

Even hidden, that distinctive aura of the elf race was still very apparent.

The carriage creaked and rattled forward, neither of them spoke.

Not until they entered Lighthouse Street and stopped in front of the Old Barrel Tavern.

The elf assistant spoke indifferently, “I’ll take you in. If the other party doesn’t ask, do not mention anything about yourself and the association.”

“Okay!” Wu Heng nodded.

The carriage door opened, and the two alighted.

Skull Crusher and Blood Axe followed behind Wu Heng, and Moya had brought an association staff member with her as well.

They pushed the door and entered the tavern.

Inside, it was bustling.

Sailors and maids were laughing and frolicking.

This tavern operated around the clock.

When fleets docked, the stifled sailors would rush into the tavern to drink and seek female companionship.

Moya didn’t stop walking.

She walked straight through the hall and down a wooden staircase on the side.

They then passed through the wine cellar and into another semi-underground room.

Two burly men blocked their way.

Reaching out, they began to pat them down.

“Let the two of them in,” came a woman’s voice from inside the room.

The guards didn’t continue their search.

They simply said, “Only two of you may enter.”

The elf assistant nodded and turned to give instructions to the followers, and Wu Heng also told Skull Crusher and Blood Axe to wait outside.

After giving their orders.

The two entered the room.

Inside the room, decorations were sparse; a woman with a somewhat unique appearance sat behind a desk.

Brown skin, heavily made up, sporting a nose ring, and wearing a thick, gold necklace around her neck.

She was draped in a loose, gray shawl.

Her two hands were busy pruning a potted plant; she looked up and glanced at the two of them, “Assistant Moya, coming to my side, please take a seat.”

Her speech was followed by another hand extending from beneath the shawl making a welcoming gesture.

Then she took two more hands out and poured tea for them.

Moya sat down on the cushion in front of the desk, and while Wu Heng was somewhat surprised by the number of arms the woman had, he sat down as well.

Moya spoke up, “We’ve encountered some issues and came to see if Mrs. Mackintosh has any news.”

Two teacups were delivered in front of them.

The exaggeratedly featured woman looked at Wu Heng, “Young man, have you encountered trouble?”

Wu Heng glanced at ‘Moya’ and seeing her nod, he said directly, “I was the target of an assassination attempt yesterday. The enemy can control a swarm of spiders, and I want to know who they are.”

“A swarm of spiders? Are there such spiders?”

“Yes!” Wu Heng took out a transparent glass jar from his pocket, inside of which was a spider close to death.

“Release it!” the woman said.

Wu Heng opened the jar and poured the half-dead spider onto the table.

The woman took a cloth strip and crushed the spider to death.

Then she held her hands above the spider’s corpse and closed her eyes.

At the same time, she raised four arms, two held straight out and two over her head.

Six arms.

Such a strange species.

The room fell quiet for a moment.

The woman opened her eyes and looked at Wu Heng, saying, “I saw a Half-Spider Man controlling the swarm.”

Half-Spider Man?

Wu Heng’s brow furrowed.

He sure had many enemies, but none included these bizarre species. He hadn’t even heard of them before coming to Gold and Silver Island, much less clashed with them.

“Why would he want me dead?” Wu Heng asked.

No one answered.

The door next to him opened, and a man walked in and whispered a couple of sentences into the woman’s ear.

The woman nodded and turned her gaze back to Wu Heng, stating, “5 days ago, a Half-Spider Man landed at the port, and he is scheduled to board a ship and leave Gold and Silver Island at dock number 7 this afternoon.”

Wu Heng was slightly surprised.

The woman in front of him had such swift and accurate intelligence.

Given the large transient population on Gold and Silver Island, accurately getting information on the movements of a Half-Spider Man was no simple feat.

“What does he look like?” Wu Heng continued to ask.

“Male, around 30 years old, slightly dark skin, hair done in small braids, and he wore loose clothing with yellow striped patterns.”

“I’m done asking,” Wu Heng said.

Moya nodded and asked the woman sitting across the table, “How much?”

The woman, cradling a teacup in both hands, lifted one arm and erected three fingers, “300 silver.”

The price was indeed not low.

Catching a fugitive might not even fetch such a high price.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Moya nodded and turned to Wu Heng, “Pay up!”

Wu Heng took out a silver pouch from the Space Ring, placed it on the woman’s table, and said, “Thank you.”

The transaction was complete.

Wu Heng and his companion turned and left.

The woman glanced at the money pouch and spoke again, “If you need anything, feel free to come to me. We like working with young folks like you.”

Wu Heng also showed a smile, “Okay.”

After leaving the tavern and boarding the carriage,

Wu Heng immediately said, “Head to the port.”

Moya looked at him and asked, “Don’t you need to report back to the steward first?”

The requirements for a vice-executive’s appointment weren’t too high.

Given Wu Heng’s age and growth, she guessed he was probably at the eighth or ninth level. Becoming a vice-executive, luck and profession played a certain advantage.

Having already been the target of an assassination attempt, rashly going there was not only startling the snake in the grass but could also mean delivering oneself to the killer’s door.

“There’s not enough time to go back and forth. Once the target leaves Gold and Silver Island, it will be hard to catch him,” said Wu Heng.

Moya thought for a moment, opened the curtain and said, “One person goes back to report the situation here to the steward and ask for a squad to come over.”

An attendant following the carriage responded and then turned to leave.

After dropping the curtain, the carriage continued on.

Wu Heng directly asked, “How did that woman just now have six arms?”

Moya replied, “Her name is Mackintosh, from the Bermola Tribe, characterized by their six arms.”

“What’s her occupation? It seems like she has control over the island’s intelligence network,” Wu Heng continued to inquire.

“Her profession is Prophet. She controls a large portion of the labor at the harbor, and everything related to port transportation has to pass through their hands. Another business line of theirs is the intelligence network.”

Wu Heng nodded his understanding.

That is to say, there were plenty of longshoremen in the port, making it easier to gather intelligence with such numbers.

In Lundham City, Wen Mansha used to collect intelligence through thieves and crooks.

Moya glanced at him, “If you want information in the future, you can buy it from her, though it’s a bit pricey.”

“With such a price, is she deliberately ripping us off?”

“The price has always been high,” Moya paused slightly, speaking in a teasing tone, “It seems she treated you quite well. You should be careful; she has outlived several husbands and has had many lovers. Be aware of your status when dealing with her.”

Wu Heng was taken aback, then he understood her implication.

“I like them fair and tender, not her type.”

About 20 minutes later, the carriage passed through Lighthouse Street and entered the port district.

The carriage pulled over to the side.

Wu Heng lifted the curtain to look outside.

The harbor was as busy as ever, with many workers moving materials on the ships and others standing on crates calling out for people to set sail with them.

Then he turned his gaze toward Pier 7.

There, a cargo ship with a blue hull was docked, with a multitude of workers loading things onto the ship.

Wu Heng’s gaze swept over the nearby crowd, the laborers, and the sailors on deck.

He did not see the Half-Spider Man mentioned by the six-armed woman.

“The Half-Spider Man can change between spider and human forms and is adept at concealment, so he probably won’t be standing out in the open,” Moya said flatly.

“Do you mean the target is in the cabin?”

“If I were fleeing, I definitely wouldn’t be standing outside.”

Moved by a thought, Glenda flew out of Wu Heng’s body and moved toward the distant cargo ship.

Moya continued calmly, “Since we’ve caught up with the ship, it’s good. We just wait here for the squad to arrive and then we can surround and capture him. Going in rashly will only increase our risk.”

Wu Heng didn’t speak.

After sitting in the carriage and waiting for a while, Glenda returned.

She dived straight back into his body.

The next second, the image Glenda saw was shared in Wu Heng’s mind.

In the dim cabin, a man was sitting in a corner.

His skin was slightly dark, and he was wearing a thick cloak; but from the sides of the hood, one could see his hair tied into small braids.

It was him!

The boy was hiding inside the cabin.

“Let’s go, board the ship!” Wu Heng opened the door and stepped out.

Two skeleton attendants followed behind him, and Moya, looking back, had no choice but to follow onto the ship.

Reaching Pier 7, they boarded the ship via the plank.

A few sailors frowned and barked, “What are you doing?”

Wu Heng pulled out an emblem, “Council business, arresting someone. Step aside.”

The sailors’ expressions stiffened and they instinctively stepped aside.

Wu Heng went straight below the deck toward the lower cabins.
