Chapter 396: Best Actor
There was a huge divide between the Nascent Soul and the Void Tempering Realm. In the country of Egrad, there were only less than twenty Espers at that level and each of them had a vast territory and a huge number of experts under their command. Even in the entirety of Azaleas, they are experts at the top of the hierarchy.
All eyes gathered toward him. If what he said was true, then there was no meaning in continuing this war. This was because the strength of a Void Tempering Realm powerhouse was so overwhelming that even the combined might of a hundred Nascent Soul Esper wasn't enough to beat them!
'This could work in my favor, but I have to play my cards right.' Aethelwolf thought to himself.
At this moment, all the Nascent Soul Espers of the two opposing forces had already stopped moving. Even the soldiers stood rooted on the ground, not daring to make any move or noise.
To make his claim more believable, Aethelwolf activated his skill 'Overwhelming Aura'. It was the same skill he used to scare the savage beasts.
Among the aura skills in his arsenal, this was the least deadly since it heavily focused on the aura. However, it was the perfect skill to fool all these experts.
"What intense aura!" All the Nascent Soul Espers fell to the ground like birds who had lost their wings.
"It's real! He is a true Void Tempering powerhouse! No one can fake this aura!" Patriarch Coleman muttered in trepidation.
"Just who is that esteemed expert?" Patriarch Silverton stared at the handsome figure hovering above them like a peerless sword.
"Sir, are you from Northern Trance?" Patriarch Ravimbert probed with a nervous smile. If this person was an enemy, there was no hope for them to win the war. They would only be fishes on the chopping board in front of overwhelming power.
Aethelwolf descended to the ground. He then let out a sigh while shaking his head. "I didn't want to reveal myself to the world, but your petty dispute forced me to make a move." He then intentionally increased the pressure on the rebel forces to show his anger toward them.
Patriarch Coleman's face was covered in sweat. He could hardly move because of the pressure. He managed to barely lift his head, just enough to catch a glimpse of Aethelwolf's face. He didn't expect him to look so young. "Please quell your rage, sir! I promise that we will give you a satisfactory explanation!
Please deactivate your aura!" He muttered through gritted teeth.
"Fine, but if your so-called explanation doesn't satisfy, I believe you know the consequences." Aethelwolf stared at him coldly, making the old man shiver in fear.
"Y-Yes, sir!" Patriarch Coleman quickly responded.
Soon, the intense pressure vanished. Everyone fell into the ground, breathing heavily like dogs who had run out of air.
"I will wait here until tomorrow. If you guys aren't back by then, I will find you and rip apart your body and soul! Do you understand?" Aethelwolf left after giving the rebels a stern look.
"He's finally gone! I almost pissed my pants…"
"Who would have thought that there was actually a hidden powerhouse in Northern Trance…"
Meanwhile, Patriarch Coleman and the rebel force couldn't even muster the courage to speak ill of the said powerhouse. They could only shake their heads with regretful faces. "Let's go back."
Patriarch Silverton and the others stared at them with rage and also a hint of relief. If it weren't for that powerhouse, many of them would have died today.
"What should we do, Patriarch Silverton?" Dan Abaveron asked with an uncertain look.
Patriarch Silverton shook his head. "Take back the wounded and have them treated immediately. As for what will happen to the city, we should know everything tomorrow."
Dan Abaveron nodded in agreement.
Soon, the battlefield was cleared by the two factions. The rebels were very cooperative and they didn't even let out a fart when the angry residents hurled insults at them.
When the reinforcement army led by Charles and Kenneth arrived, the battle was already over.
"What happened here?" They were surprised when they saw the soldiers cleaning up the battlefield, but what made them even more surprised was that the rebels were helping them with the cleanup.
Filled with curiosity, Charles and the others looked for the patriarchs for answers.
"You mean Sir Aethelwolf is actually a Void Tempering powerhouse?!" Kenneth was flabbergasted.
Charles was also stunned, but when he thought about the sudden retreat of the savage beasts, he realized that it made sense. 'No wonder those arrogant savage beasts retreated without saying a word. From the looks of it, they had also discovered Sir Aethelwolf's terrifying martial prowess.'
Everyone was shocked by the news, but the most surprised one was William.
'How is that possible? My lord just recently broke through the Nascent Soul Realm. How did he suddenly become a Void Tempering powerhouse?' William was baffled when he heard the news. He even went together with Aethelwolf to buy the Agalsistar, a pill that could increase one's chances of breaking through the Nascent Soul.
'There might be some truth to it. Lord Aethelwolf managed to help us break through the Core Formation stage in just a short amount of time. He probably employed some means to conceal his true cultivation from everyone!' William's imagination ran wild the more he thought about everything.
It was then that he heard Aethelwolf's voice in his mind. "William, I'm currently staying at the Drifting Cloud Inn. Bring the others here with you."
After a moment of surprise, William eagerly replied. "Yes, my lord!" He then called his subordinates and told them to follow him.
The Drifting Cloud Inn was quite easy to find. Among the establishments that managed to survive the war, it was the nearest inn.
"Are you Sir William?" A man wearing dirty rags approached as soon as they entered the inn.
William nodded at the man.
"Please pardon my appearance, sir. I barely managed to survive the war so I hope that you won't take offense." The man said in embarrassment.
"It's fine. Since you know me, you should know why we are here."
"Indeed. Please follow me, sir. I'll bring you to see the lord."
