Chapter 163: Chapter 164: A Desperate Gamble
Alyssa pushed herself harder than ever, her legs burning as she sprinted through the streets of Prague. The city's narrow alleys and twisting roads blurred past her as she focused on one thing: finding the weapons.
The air was thick with tension as she approached the docks, a location Marcus had flagged earlier as a possible site of interest. It had seemed insignificant at the time, but now Alyssa knew better. If Volkov was playing them, this would be the perfect place for him to pull off something massive without anyone noticing.
She reached the docks, breathless but focused. The place was eerily quiet, the faint sound of water lapping against the boats the only noise in the air. Alyssa scanned the area, her instincts on high alert.
And then she saw it a massive cargo ship, sitting docked at the far end. Its crew was busy loading crates, their movements quick and efficient. The same crates she'd seen in the warehouse.
"Volkov's weapons," she muttered, drawing her gun. She needed to stop the shipment from leaving. Whatever Volkov was planning, it was going to be huge and these weapons were the key. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Just as Alyssa started moving toward the ship, a voice called out from the shadows. "I was wondering when you'd catch on."
She spun around, her gun raised, only to see Volkov standing there, his expression calm, almost bored.
"Too late, Alyssa," he said, his voice a deadly whisper. "It's already done."
What do you think?
