Chapter 173. Truth of the Nine Blades
Chapter 173. Truth of the Nine Blades
As the sun rose, Rei stood on top of the highest building with his eyes closed.
After he had received the god title of Element god, he realised that he could cultivated much faster when he was outside. This was mainly attributed to the fact that he was absorbing the elements into his body storing up more power. Due to the uniqueness of god titles, he didn't need to worry about the restrictions either because the power was being stored internally.
However, this did not mean that he could exhibit the power of a Divine Rank individual since the world wouldn't be able to handle it. Rather it was like his internal powers being in the Divine Rank category whilst his external is at the World Rank category.
The biggest benefit this brought him was cultivation on the spot! During a lecture? Cultivate. Training his student? Cultivate. Sitting on the toilet? Cultivate.... Maybe not on the toilet since he didn't need to go to it, but the point is that this allowed him to cultivate whenever.
Due to this new discovery, he was already on the verge of breaking through to Divine Rank 6.
"Master, school should be starting soon." Fey said as she landed lightly beside him.
"Got it, let's go." Rei smiled as he opened his eyes once more.
He didn't know what kind of eyes these were, but he knew they were powerful. After giving himself an internal scan, which focused on his eyes, he was able to sense the power locked behind them as they would be unlock in time.
"Fey, what do you think would happen should I go to the school with my current eyes?" Rei asked.
"I would presume that a lot of questions would be asked. It might also cause some individuals to be wearier of you and could target your students to get the secret out of you." Fey replied after some thought.
"Hou~ I'm guessing you said that because you've saw some worms sneaking around the demon class students who participated in the Nine School Competition." Rei smiled as he had long discovered them.
"...Yes." Fey replied slightly surprised since she had just discovered them.
"Don't be surprised. While I can't show the power of a Divine Rank individual, my mastery of the information plane allows me to simulate some of the benefits of a Sovereign rank individual whilst only being at World rank." Rei replied with a smile. He had been keeping an eye for those students since he knows the trouble his sequences could bring. Which is why he was allowing those worms to act so they understand no matter how hard they try, they won't be able to use his sequences.
Of course, unless they were able to crack his codes which wouldn't happen unless they understood every law regarding the information plane and use that as a basis to decode his sequences.
Since his eyes could bring danger to his students, especially Yaiba and Harumi, Rei decided to hide them.
"Fey, do you have a long strip of white cloth?" Rei asked.
"I do master." She said with a smile as she lifted up her skirt and was about to use a portion of her garter belt.
"Oi." Rei said hitting her lightly on the head causing her to stumble back.
"When did I say, 'use your garter belt as a cloth'?" Rei asked as he looked at the masochist vampire in front of him.
"Why, you don't want it?" Fey asked with a smile.
"Che." Rei ignored her as he jumped off the building and landed lightly.
Closing his eyes, Rei made sure people can't see them and sent out his senses. Finding a clothes store, Rei walked in.
"Hello, are you able to sell me a long piece of cloth? Preferably coloured black or white." Rei said as the till person nodded.
"Since we don't usually do this, we'll have to charge you extra for this would that be ok?" She asked.
"Yes, that'll be fine." Rei replied as the till person blushed at his smile.
The service was quick as a long strip of black cloth was brought out.
"That'll be 100 credits." She said as Rei handed the money over.
Tying the cloth over his eyes, Rei remembered the time he spent in Seven Deadly Sins with a piece of cloth over his eyes as well. Smiling slightly in nostalgia, Rei walked to the school with Fey.
Rei heard whispers about his blindfold but kept a smile on his face.
"Just because I can't see doesn't mean I can't hear." Rei said as the whispers suddenly died out.
Number one unspoken rule in First High School. When demon teacher says something do not, DO NOT under any circumstances, disobey. If there are no specific instructions, then don't do anything. Avoid pissing him off.
Walking to his office, Rei sat down as he thought about what kind of lecture he could do. Last year, he had already taught most of the students the basics of sequence casting. Maybe second years get more advanced lectures? And then the third years will get lectures on how to use sequences fast and cast on the run.
*BANG!
The door suddenly slammed open bringing Rei out of his thoughts as he turned over.
"Sensei!" Yaiba cried out seeing Rei wearing a blindfold. Harumi looked at Rei with worry as she stood behind him.
"Close the door." Rei said as they nodded.
"What do you need?" Rei asked with a smile.
"What happened sensei? Your eyes!" Yaiba asked as he was panting slightly from running all the way to Rei's office.
"Nothing is wrong with my eyes." Rei shook his head as he took off the blindfold and exposed his eyes.
Yaiba as Harumi felt shocked seeing the mini galaxy in Rei's iris'.
"Just that this might bring unwanted troubles to you guys should some worms see my eyes." Rei smiled as he put the blindfold back on.
"Oh, so a false alarm?" Yaiba said as Rei nodded.
"Also, where did you and your clan migrate to?" Rei asked as he crossed his legs and rested his head on his arm.
"We migrated nearby actually. A monk ninja person owns the place and allowed the main house to live there. Other branches left for other places so we can be more spread out." Yaiba replied as he somehow felt the pressure emitted from Rei being much more dangerous than before.
"Monk ninja? Could it be Kokonoe Yakumo?" Rei asked as Yakumo was also Tatsuya's master.
"Eh? Master knows him?" Yaiba asked surprised.
"A little. Why don't you take me there some day?" Rei asked as Yaiba nodded.
"Ok, first thing I need to do today is determine who is going into the demon class after some third years left." Rei said standing up.
"Don't you also need to go recruit some people into your clubs?" Rei asked as he knew Yaiba would continue to be the club leader of both clubs.
"Ah I almost forgot!" Yaiba said as he turned and quickly went to set up his stall.
"You didn't almost forget, you DID forget." Rei said shaking his head with a smile.
"Harumi, how's your brother?" Rei asked as the attack might have shocked him.
"Akria's fine. He didn't see anything since we only brought him out after we cleaned up. Right now, he's also living with the main house of the Ketsu clan." Harumi said as Rei nodded.
"So you're also living with Yaiba now? Any developments?" Rei grinned as Harumi blushed.
"Um-this, we're engaged now." She said with a deep blush.
"Hahaha, engaged now are we? When's the wedding? And also remember, no private moments until you're over eighteen. We don't want any accidents now do we?" Rei smiled as Harumi froze as if her brain had been fried.
Fey quickly caught her before she fell.
"Master, you know what Harumi's like. Don't joke with her like that." Fey said as she could only hear Rei's laugh in the distance.
Smiling wearily, Fey laid Harumi on the chair as she waited for her to snap out of it.
Rei had managed to fill all 20 slots for the first years and the 20 slots for the second/third years. All 40 students for the next Nine School Competition were prepared. However, Rei focused on Yaiba and Harumi more as they were akin to his personal students.
They were the only ones who kept his sequences and could use them if they wanted.
Right now, they were standing back at the training location they were at last year.
"Yaiba, I've taught you how to attack and defend. However, it seems like we focused on attack a little too much. You need defence as well or the potential of the Nine Blades would be wasted." Rei said as he held two wooden swords in both hands.
Yaiba nodded seriously as he could tell that Rei was much more comfortable holding two swords instead of one.
"Ready?" Rei asked with a smile.
Yaiba nodded as Rei rushed forwards.
Suddenly, Rei threw the two wooden swords at Yaiba.
Deflecting the swords with two blades, Yaiba looked back at Rei but realised he was mid-air.
Rei was half-way through a twisting motion as he grabbed the two blades accurately and cut towards Yaiba.
*BANG!
The ground cracked slightly as Yaiba gritted his teeth.
To block Rei, he had stacked six blades together.
"Never aim to block, always go for the parry." Rei said as this was a mistake he used to do often. However, as he grew stronger, he knew that the physical properties didn't fully express a person's strength. Therefore, trying to block someone's attack might just prove to be suicidal.
Jumping back slightly, Rei threw the blade on his right with a swinging motion whilst the left upwards.
Using ghost steps, Rei appeared besides the first sword he threw and was about to cut towards Yaiba once more.
Quickly rotating seven swords to where Rei was and above him, Yaiba aimed to parry like Rei said.
Rei smiled as his movement suddenly shifted. What seemed like a powerful stomp downwards to provide more power for his swing actually lifted his body up. Twisting himself over Yaiba's blades, Rei caught the second sword he threw and landed at Yaiba's weak spot.
Cutting upwards with both sword Rei left some cut on Yaiba's protective clothing.
"Assign two swords at best. Never more. Or else what just happened then would happen more often. By assigning more swords, you're leaving yourself more open to attacks." Rei said as Yaiba stood up.
Looking at the Nine Blades, Yaiba mustered up the courage to ask the question that had been plaguing him mind.
"Master. Why is it that the Nine Blades seem much weaker than the God Series?" Yaiba asked as he feels like the Apollo System, Zeus System and so on were more powerful.
Rei shook his head.
"Nine Blades is more powerful." Rei smiled as Yaiba was confused.
"Tell me the elemental properties of each blade." Rei asked seeing the confusion.
"They don't have properties. They're only blades made from psions which were converted into items with physical properties." Yaiba said as Rei nodded.
"Now activate the Apollo System." Rei said as he put away his wooden swords.
"But I don't have it." Yaiba replied confused.
"You should know how to activate it. Just do it, trust me." Rei smiled.
Yaiba nodded when one of his blades suddenly became a bow.
"You mean?!" Yaiba said looking at Rei.
"Each blade were made to be blank until you use the God Series with them. The Nine Blades, each with their own God Series engraved into their source codes. Apollo System, Zeus System, Poseidon System, Gaia System, Athena System, Hades System, Hermes System, Ares System and finally the Cronos System." Rei smiled as he sat down on a chair.
When he created the Nine Blades, he used his Unlimited Blade Works and Zanpakuto as a basis. Each blade when transformed is essentially a Bankai but without the sword soul. Therefore, it was also linked to some Noble Phantasms unlocking their ability for a short amount of time. These two combined became the Nine Blades.
"You should know the origins of the names so you should be able to guess their powers."
Yaiba nodded.
"Apollo, the god of Light, Sun, Archery and many more. Zeus, the god of lightning and king of the gods. Poseidon, the god of the seas. Gaia, the primordial god of earth. Athena, the goddess of wisdom, war and many others much like Apollo. Hades, the god of the underworld. Hermes, the messenger of gods with unmatched speed. Ares, the god of war. And Cronos..." Yaiba said taking a deep breath.
"The god of time." He finished as his outlook on the Nine Blades changed greatly.
"Still think it's weaker than the God series?" Rei asked with a smile. Yaiba quickly shook his head.
"However, you should also know that to use each of these systems, the Psion count would be high no matter how much I try to reduce them. Without sufficient psions, you'll become a fish on the chopping board quickly."Rei said as Yaiba nodded with seriousness.
"If sensei gave this to me then you've most likely prepared a plan." Yaiba said as Rei nodded.
"There is a method to increase your psions count. But it would take time and when practised to the max, you should be able to use three systems easily. Or the Cronos System once every day with enough power to use another system to keep you alive." Rei said as Yaiba nodded.
"The method should already be in your CAD. If you lose the CAD, it would destroy itself. If I'm not around, just cut your finger slightly and mark the CAD you want to use and the Nine Blades along with the user restrictions would be imprinted onto the new CAD. Naturally, if the sequences were to be used for negative purposes it would delete itself and you along with it. That is, if you were the one to use it for negative purposes." Rei smiled as Yaiba felt a chill down his spine.
"I would never." Yaiba said seriously.
"I know. Also, your descendants would get the Nine Blades as well. But the restrictions would apply to them as well. They would also need your permission to give access to the Nine Blades. But a warning, they would be deleted as well if they use the sequences for negative purposes." Rei said as Yaiba nodded once more. He understood why Rei was doing this. The God Series already brought huge waves across the magician's community and if they were to know about the Nine Blades true power...
"Well I trust your personality which is why I even gave you the Nine Blades to begin with." Rei smiled.
"The real name would be the Nine Blades of God, but why expose the true potential? What would you be more on guard with. Nine Blades or Nine Blades of God?" Rei asked.
"Nine Blades of God." Yaiba replied.
Little did he know, his Nine Blades would be the start of many more unconventional names which hid the true power of the sequence. One being Mirage Zone. The true power was actually physical reinforcement and charge towards the enemy knocking them out. However, the enemy would ignore you since they thought you were a mirage. To make matters worse, there were another sequence named Mirage Zone as well which actually made mirages in a specific zone.
