Chapter 133: Discerning

[Seth's POV: ]

A shiver ran down my spine hearing the voice of an entirely unfamiliar person, creeping up to me without giving off a single fraction of her presence despite my Observation Skill was still in use.

There were not many who knew my previous identity's name, and considering females other than Mayu, there were Miyuki and Kyouko. From the previous night's conversation with Anabelle, I was certain that this girl was none other than once my friend, Miyuki.

But to get ensured...

"Who are you? "It took me less than a second to direct my daggers toward the throat of the unexpected appearance who unlike what I saw in Anabelle's memories, was physically present here. She was not in her astral form was something a bit surprising considering how I ought to be wary of her.

Her crimson eyes shone brilliantly, like having her skin pressed against some poison-coated steel was a subject of her delight. It might be my imagination but just now, her breathing became ragged slightly as well.

Unlike in the past when she carried typical black hair and peculiar blue eyes, now she seemed more vibrant and somehow dangerous with those crimson hair and ruby eyes. Was she influenced by her character of Maydeath?

As I remember, Maydeath(the character who was present in the front right now)was an antagonist who would be slaughtered in this tournament for harboring dark magic. But this woman in front possesses something more...she should have been a mid-villain but her aura exposes something else.

"Don't you remember? I am your friend, Miyuki. Now, don't tell you don't remember me or I will be upset. "

You know...resting your chin over my blade is dangerous right? Or is this girl not sane in her mind?

I retracted my blade since for records I have no wariness toward Miyuki to remain on guard from the front but it was not like I would be entirely lax. This girl was giving an even creepier vibe than Anabelle.

"I do remember you, but I am unsure whether the Miyuki I knew is still the same standing in front of me. "

There was a theory I have concluded recently and that was, the merging of two souls highly influences one's personality. Like the Mayu I knew was not entirely the same if the story is right about her being extremely possessive of me, somehow Anabelle's gentle and caring nature has prohibited her from killing others who were around me. The same goes for Keita. I can't tell about myself but surely I must have changed somehow as well, and the same goes for Miyuki.

In my previous life, Miyuki was a gentle and considerate girl, much like the original Anabelle in this world. If Miyuki wasn't pretending to be like that in the previous world then adding her personality to Maydeath would create some sort of balance in their souls.

However, the darkness Mayu harbored, if somehow was the same for Miyuki as well then added with Maydeath, she would be anything but stable in her head to deal with. She would be more than just troublesome and adding those logic-defying powers she possesses, it would be disastrous.

"Oh, you can be reassured, Ryuu-kun. I can do anything but harm you. "

She inched closer, her eyes unwavering and her smile never leaving her face, which surely was bizarre since her words required her facial expression to shift yet all she moved was her lips.

"Can I ask, why did you harm Amabelle yesterday?"

To discern her current self I need to exchange words with her and know about what is going on with this version of Maydeath. I indeed was concerned about Anabelle but more than that I wanted to be certain about whether this girl is an ally or a potential threat.

Hearing my words, her smile stiffened slightly and her posture strengthened. The expression finally changed for good before she replied in a far colder tone than before.

"She received what she deserved and there's more to come as well. "

From the way, those words were voiced out...I knew she was dead serious about hurting Anabelle. That lifeless gaze was something I have seen Anabelle possess when I rescued her from her dorm.

So...is it really true?

Miyuki is just like Mayu huh...

Seriously, how can these girls like someone with a scarred face, scary guy...?

I just prayed that all the stories Anabelle and Saito have told me about Miyuki prove to be wrong and that she comes out as just a little emotional girl after all, but I forgot how bitchy sometimes things could proceed...

A/N: - Next chapter would return to the tournament and how actively the drama Queen Arata would act up , upon realizing Miyuki's identity...
