Chapter 31 Opportunity
"Who are you?"
The first question asked by Mell Jar was already enough to stump him and something Kyle couldn't answer truthfully.
'I'm a reincarnation from another universe that was devoured by the planet we are living on!'
Such an answer would make no sense because there was a small number of reincarnated souls who had memories of their past life, while the number of those who were still alive was even less.
Additionally, there were countless beings that had nothing to do with the reincarnated souls of the old universe that not many knew of.
Thus Kyle decided to reveal only a little bit about himself that might seem interesting while leaving other things out.
"My name is Kyle…which you already know, I am 18 years old, and I'm not from the Aldra race but a race called Yadras!"
Nobody had expected this answer and even Selene was staring at him in confusion.
"Yadras? Never heard of them… But, you look exactly like we do. Does that mean these two races are related?" Gard mumbled and Kyle decided to use this question in order to reveal more about himself, hoping that the provided discount would increase.
"Related? Maybe, but the Yadras race has more individuals that can't cultivate than those who can. That's because we have all three cultivation veins inside our body. Unfortunately, they're unawakened and hinder each other, thus one has to be lucky to even awaken a single one! In my case, it is a little bit more difficult."
Gard hadn't expected to receive an explanation, but from the information Kyle shared, he could only stare at the youth who had appeared inconspicuous to him before.
'Who are you…?'
Meanwhile, Selene recalled having seen the Emerald Fox before around Kyle but she had no clue as to what it was. As such, she could only tell that it was able to absorb both primordial energy and mana, which was something many beasts were able to do.
It was similar to her possessing two different cultivation veins!
However, hearing Kyle share details of his personal life with complete strangers after traveling along with him for so many days made her feel a little sad.
She had hoped that Kyle would open up to her, and not sell his secrets to someone else!
While Selene was a little dejected, Mell replied,
"I want to be honest with you... I'd like to ask you a lot more, but I'm not sure if our discounts are tempting enough. The information you've just given us is already worth a fortune for others! Just so you know.
If you're still willing to answer another question, it would be about how a Yadras without a cultivation foundation arrived, let alone survived inside the Sadorla forest?"
This was a question Kyle had expected and the one he was definitely not supposed to answer with complete honesty!
As such, he just went ahead with the easiest answer he could think of.
"As far as I can remember, I traveled around with my family, but thieves overwhelmed us and deprived us of all our possessions. After that, I felt something blunt hit the back of my head, and the next thing I can remember was waking up inside the forest, naked and without anyone else around me."
Kyle was not sure if he had exaggerated too much, but he was of the opinion that this story was relatively good and didn't have too many loopholes.
A lot of time could have passed between the robbery and him waking up in the forest, and while he was unconscious many things could have occurred.
It might be weird that he was not killed while lying unconscious in the forest, but there were all kinds of sadistic people, who loved to watch people suffer. Thus, his attacker might have left him to die, hoping that a wild animal would kill him.
Someone without a cultivation foundation was exactly that, a nice toy one could watch while he would desperately try to survive.
Just as Kyle finished his story, Gard Jar leaned over the counter and grabbed his hands as he looked into his eyes.
Pity shone within them, and Kyle knew that he had gone a little overboard as Gard said,
"Just forget about the enlargeable backpack, they're not as useful as you might think!! Just use normal backpacks and save enough before you can purchase a spatial ring! As for a weapon….there is no need for you to pay either! I don't know if you're able to cultivate according to what you've stated earlier, but being able to defend yourself properly is important!!"
After that he diverted his attention to his wife as he mumbled,
"Such poor fellas!"
Earlier, Kyle was under the impression that Mell jar was the sentimental person in their relationship.
However, from the looks of it, Gard, the blacksmith, was having a meltdown in front of him and Selene!
He felt bad about lying to them, but Kyle knew that his truth sprinkled with some lies was worth quite a lot. If Kyle were to reveal things he remembered from his past life, it would be possible for him to earn a huge fortune too!
There was quite a lot of information he was able to clearly recall, but there was, even more, he didn't know because he hadn't been able to cultivate before!
"Thank you, Sir. Fortunately, I can cultivate!"
Kyle had listened to Gard's words intently, but he couldn't completely agree with him!
Spatial rings were superior to enlargeable backpacks because they could carry weight without affecting the wearer, and the only restriction they seemed to have was their capacity!
To put it simply, a spatial ring was considered to be a secret space where inanimate objects could be stored.
Meat and other foods wouldn't spoil as time didn't work like normal inside the unique ore which was used to make the spatial rings.
As such, it was definitely superior to an enlargeable backpack, however, Gard seemed to forget that both Kyle and Selene had to carry everything they were hunting to.
Hence, it didn't matter to them whether it was a spatial ring or an enlargeable backpack as long as it was easier to carry multiple larger objects or carcasses around.
Currently, they were short of wealth and the time to procure enough Pryr crystals that would help them purchase a spatial ring that was much more expensive than an enlargeable backpack!
Even Mell Jar seemed to look at her husband in confusion, and she could just sigh before she averted her attention back to Kyle.
"Both of you can choose a weapon and a proper scabbard each. The smallest enlargeable backpack would be of hardly any use to you two because possessing it won't bring many benefits. But I can still discount it.
However, instead of making a boring offer, I want to give you two an exciting opportunity. I'll give you a 30% discount for the next item you purchase, irrespective of whether it is a spatial ring or an ordinary backpack!"
Upon hearing the offer, Kyle behaved as if he was unfazed, while Selene was about to shout out in excitement, but closed her mouth when she felt something pinch her arm.
She glanced to her side to see Kyle signaling her to calm down and quietly follow Gard, who had already left for his side of the shop.
The smithy and all weapons he had forged were located there!
All of his great works were exhibited on glass shelves and cabinets lining the walls, and despite not knowing much about the forging process, Kyle could tell that they were made with passion!
His combat experience was low, and his weaponry proficiency was at the bare minimum owing to the basic training every Yadras had to undergo!
Thus, he was neither a master nor completely ignorant to know how well-forged weapons should look and feel like.
While Kyle was still coming to terms with the great opportunity Mell Jar had given them, Selene looked like she had already moved on.
She was walking through the rows of cabinets displaying all kinds of weapons with a look of awe and respect plastered on her face.
It was evident that those weapons were used to kill other living beings.
Comparing their sharpness, and the way their handle felt against her palm, Selene could tell the vast difference between the boar tusk dagger she was carrying and the simplest dagger Gard had forged.
However, other than the difference between her weapon and the rest, Selene didn't know much.
All she could do was gaze at the different types of daggers with varying shapes and sizes. Some were longer, some curvier, and a few even had wavy blades.
It was confusing and she didn't understand what kinds of benefits each type of dagger had.
Thus, she ran back to Kyle, only to hear him say, "It's your decision, pick what you like!"
This was not helpful, and one could notice her disappointment as her ears went limp again.
