Soul for a Girlfriend?

Chapter 120 - Too Good Of An Opportunity

I was sitting near the playground watching the selections going on since it was our PE period, but we couldn't play because of the ground being already occupied.

Tsūmen was in his club, and Gaisen was talking with Nishimiya. It seemed like they were in charge of the first year relay and sprint selections. Gaisen was writing something on a paper while Nishimiya was tracking the time with a stopwatch in his hands.

Also, I don't know how or why, but Kizhashi and Reina were sitting on my left side while Kana and Saki were sitting on the right side and they were constantly arguing with each other.

I looked at both of them, but it seemed like they didn't even acknowledge my presence. I leaned back and sighed.

Reminiscing about the things that happened yesterday at the Kendo club, I got some vague piece of information that may or may not be useful to me.

Ryuhan left the club, and Yuna was pissed at Naoto. I don't know what happened, but Ryuhan was completely right about her casual attitude towards the club. That's why the club is so unorganised and the members are so undisciplined.

Also, it looked like Ryuhan and Naoto were equal candidates for the president but in the end Naoto was chosen. But talking with them for about a week, it's indeed a small time, but I felt no hidden grudge coming from Ryuhan against Senpai.

Then again, my probability of being wrong is huge. Also, Ryuhan said something about her ending the relationship with Vivian. Good thing I stayed there and listened to the whole thing.

Listening to Ryuhan, I could tell this wasn't the first time she did something like this. But he also said something along the lines of her not being like this before.

The most intriguing thing is that the apparently perfect girl wasn't perfect at all. Rather, she was also a defective product. Her attitude seemed too inert all the while they fought yesterday.

It was like she didn't care for anything at all. She was done with everything. Her cold eyes and laid back attitude, these all were indicators of depression.

But thinking about it, a student who is good at Kendo, rather good at studying and has a good social life, I couldn't find any reason for her to go into depression.

The only probable reason I could think of is that she might have some problems at her house. Maybe pressurizing parents? But pressurizing about what? She is already good at both the aspects, academics and athletics.

This is so confusing. I could never come to a conclusion like this. I'm just running in circles in my mind.

Ryuhan and Vivian both are pissed, so I can't talk to them about this. Or even if I do, there is a high chance that none of them will want to talk about it. As for Naoto herself, she is a really closed person.

"What are you thinking so deeply about?" Reina asked me out of the blue and it broke my train of thought.

"Huh?" I looked at her.

"You, what are you thinking about?" She repeated herself again.

"Ahh nothing… just the manga I read last night." I just gave her a vague reply.

Kana punched me playfully on the shoulder and asked in her usual energetic tone, "Oya Sakamaki, did you try for any event?"

I sighed, "No… I'm not good at sports."

"Wha…" Kana looked at me as if it was something unbelievable.

"Well, you won't know if you don't try." She patted my head and said with a smile.

"Well, when I know I'm no good, why would I even try?"

"Ooof, why are you so pessimistic?" Saki said with a frown. Saki has definitely changed a lot since the last time we talked properly. And these sudden changes in their persona were kind of difficult for me to comprehend.

"Except me, everyone took part in some event here." Reina said, looking around her. Well, I knew that Kizhashi and Kana were at the Tennis event, but Saki's participation was a surprise.

Since Reina didn't participate in any event, she could relate with me to some extent, "See, you know your bad at sports, that's why you didn't try, right?"

She narrowed her eyes at me and with an awkward pause said, "Ok, that was rude… but yes."

"Oh, yeah… Sakamaki, is it true?" Reina said something, but I wasn't looking at her at that moment. My eyes were looking at someone else.

Turning around, I caught the sight of Yuna walking alone towards the school building. Looking at this opportunity, I quickly stood up and started to walk towards her.

"Where are you going?" She asked me.

I stopped for a bit and turned around as I replied, "I have something to do."

"What?" she asked with a curious look.

"Something." I said with air quotes and a sly smile to make things go in the flow of a joke.

"Oh, thanks… that explained a lot." The smile of her face disappeared and a frown formed. With narrow eyes, she said in a sarcastic tone.

"No problem." With a sarcastic smile, I nodded and started running towards her.

"Ora! Saishi!" I could hear someone call my name but I didn't have time to turn around and answer them.

"Yuna Senpai!" I called out her name as she was about to enter the building. She stopped near the gate and looked around in confusion.

I waved my hand at her and I walked up to her.

"Oh, Sakamaki-kun, what's up?" She asked with her usual cheerful smile. She was in her normal uniform, with her sleeves folded till her forearm and her hair was flowing freely beside her.

"Do you have a moment?" I asked.

She looked at me curiously and nodded, "Mhm?"

This is a way too good opportunity to let go off. Yuna can easily be shaped as her personality is like water from what I have seen in the past few days.
