The former crown prince was completely surprised by what the Merman King said. But he didn't make any mistakes on why the Merman King did this.

The former crown prince knew exactly what the Merman King was doing with this.

So after a moment of silence, he waved his hand at Zyra and Dicus as well and they came over to his side.

"Brother, this is my wife and my daughter." The former crown prince said with Zyra and Dicus by his side.

It seemed that the ice that had frozen their relationship had finally broken and they were reconciling with each other. They were introducing their families to each other and there was a reunion that was happening between them.

With the way that they talked to each other, it seemed like they were genuinely catching up after many years of separation. Though the relationship between the former crown prince and the Merman King seemed a bit stiff still.

The wives and daughters seemed to slowly open up with each other, but the husbands found it hard to talk to each other.

Still, it was better than nothing.

This at least meant that there was some form of communication between the two sides.

But after a while, they settled down.

It was that they had run out of things to talk about.

There were many things that they wanted to tell each other, but the former crown prince and the Merman King knew that this wasn't the time to talk about this. Rather, they were here for a certain reason which was what should take priority.

So once they were done, they turned to look at me.

I had been sitting there silently since this was a matter between their family, but now it seemed like they were bringing me into it.

I didn't need to guess to know why they were bringing me into this matter.

They were ready to transition from the topic of family to the one that I had brought them all here for. They were ready to talk about the future relationship between the sea witches and the Merman Empire.

"Before we do anything else, how about we clear something up?" I said when they were all looking at me.

Everyone had confused looks when they heard this since they had no idea what I was talking about. As far as they were concerned the matter that needed to be cleared up was already cleared up because of the apologies just now.

There was nothing left for them to say.

I could guess what they were thinking based on their expressions, so I simply turned to the former crown prince and said, "Do you want to tell them about the sea witches? I'm sure that this is what you've been waiting for all this time."

The former crown prince was surprised to hear this.

In light of all that happened, he had actually forgotten all about this.

But he didn't deny that I was right because this was something that he wished he had the opportunity to do. The sea witches were a misunderstood group and they never had a chance to explain themselves, which was what resulted in the current situation.

So with a nod, the former crown prince turned to the Merman King and said, "I know what the Merman Empire thinks of the sea witches, but I hope that you will keep an open mind about what I want to say."

The Merman King didn't respond at first, but he slowly gave a nod to show his agreement. The former crown prince continued by saying, "It's true that there have been some bad things committed by the sea witches, there is no denying that. But I want to say that these few sea witches don't represent the entire sea witch community. There are good and bad people, just like with the Merman Empire."

The Merman King slightly knitted his brows when he heard this.

It seemed like he found it hard to believe because of the things that had happened in the past, but eventually his brows relaxed as if he was willing to listen. It wasn't that he was willing to accept everything just yet, but at the very least, it seemed like he was willing to listen to what the former crown prince was about to say.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

That was at least a step forward.

The former crown prince went into different examples that he had prepared over the years. These were examples that he had been preparing just in case there was ever a chance since there was a part of him that didn't want to give up.

Though that part of him wanted to do this for his daughter rather than anything else.

The examples that he gave included things like kidnappings and pollution.

The truth of the matter was that they weren't kidnapped, but rather they had eloped because they were in love. Or the pollution was because of accidents that happened during the experiments that the sea witches did.

It was all because the Merman Empire was never willing to listen to them that these matters escalated out of hand.

The Merman Empire persecuted the sea witches without actually investigating the matters and then escalated it all before there were any explanations given. Though even if there were explanations, it wasn't as if the Merman Empire was willing to listen because of their prejudices.

When he was done, the former crown prince waited for the Merman King's response.

The Merman King didn't say anything at first, but he eventually said, "I can't say that I'll drop this matter, but at least I can say that I'll let my people investigate it. If it's true, then we can slowly move on rebuilding our relationship."

The former crown prince gave a simple nod in response.

He knew that this matter couldn't be rushed, it was a wound that had to be healed over time.

At least they had taken the first step.

All of a sudden, the Merman King asked, "What can you tell me about the experiments of the sea witches?"
