Chapter 1155: Aquaron (1)
Chapter 1155: Aquaron (1)
The place that the Merman King led me was a temple.
However, this temple was in a different style compared to the buildings that we had passed.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
The style that the buildings in this capital of the Merman Empire was built in was what one would imagine from a kingdom of mermaids. It was built with what seemed to be shells and different kinds of underwater materials.
It was only this temple that had the style that would be found on land.
It was only this temple that seemed to be made of rocks.
This was a large temple that had a very large statue at the top of it. This statue was a large trident that had three large points right at the tip of this temple.
The strange thing was that this trident really seemed excessive for a temple of this size, but there it was.
It was almost as if whoever had built this temple wanted to show off.
Of course, it wasn't my place to judge them on this.
All that mattered for me was seeing the god that the Merman Empire worshiped, the god of water, Aquaron.
Before entering the temple, there were some merman that came over to stop us.
This was a group of old merman who were wearing clothes that were similar to the clothes that those from the Holy Empire wore. Though the clothes that they wore had more of an underwater feel to them compared to the robes that the priests of the Holy Empire wore.
It was clear that they were priests that worked at this temple.
After coming out, they actually didn't pay any attention to the Merman King that was leading our group. As soon as they came out, their attention immediately went to me, who was in the middle of the group.
It was even surprising that they were able to see me since I was hidden by the others.
The Merman King saw this and didn't seem to mind.
With a wave of his hand, the mermaid guards moved out of the way and revealed me, who was standing there in the middle of the group.
The priests immediately came over and surrounded me, but with the air bubble in the way, it was more than they surrounded the air bubble.
They seemed like they wanted to come forward and look at me carefully, but they stopped themselves from popping the air bubble in the end.
It wasn't out of respect for me, but rather out of respect for the fact that the air bubble was created with Aquaron's relic. They looked at the air bubble as if they could tell that it was special.
After looking at me like this for a bit which made me feel like some kind of animal in a cage, the priest that was in charge finally said, "You are the one that Lord Aquaron summoned?"
Though he asked me this, it was clear by the way that they looked at me that they already knew that it was me.
In fact, I was the only human that was here, so that made it even more obvious.
Still, with them surrounding me like this, it wasn't as if I would be able to go anywhere... So I simply said with a nod, "That's right."
They looked at me for a bit longer before suddenly moving out of the way.
The head priest just gave a simple nod and gestured to the main temple as he said, "His excellency is waiting for you."
I just gave a simple nod before moving forward towards the main altar of this temple. While I was moving forward, there were more people that suddenly came out.
To my surprise, there were a bunch of other priests and nuns that came out that stood on the sides of the main entrance. They lined up as if they were creating a path for me to walk down.
While I was walking through, they even started singing hymns as if this was some kind of ceremony.
A bitter smile appeared on my lips when I heard this, but I had to admit that their singing was beautiful.
This was the singing of mermaids that could even compel a man to ram their ship into rocks, so it could only be described as hypnotic to people that weren't prepared for it.
But for me, I had already heard Ariel's singing before and had been able to hold on, so it wasn't a problem for me to resist this singing. Even if the singing had completely surrounded me since there were so many mermaids here.
When I entered the temple and the doors closed behind me, I found that the singing had completely disappeared.
It was silent in this temple, as if the doors had completely cut off the sound behind me.
It was as if I had entered a completely different world.
It was unknown if they just stopped singing or if the sound proofing in this place was just that
good.
Once I was in this place, I immediately looked around the temple.
To my surprise, this place was actually quite simple.
There weren't any pews or such that one might see in a human church, there was only a single statue that was right at the front of this room.
It had something that was on the top of this temple and something that wasn't on the top of
the temple.
It was a statue of a muscular man who was holding a trident.
This was most likely a statue of the god that was worshiped in this temple.
This was most likely a statue of Aquaron.
Seeing this statue, I couldn't help thinking to myself...
"This god seems to love himself a bit too much."
It was with this thought that there was a flash of light that came from in front of me.
This flash of light came from the statue that was there before I was pulled into a completely
different space.
