Secrets of the Universe

Chapter 72: [Source Energy]

Chapter 72: [Source Energy]

Few hours passed by and the night was getting closer to the next day.

While unconscious, Jake squirmed and squealed due to pain.

It took him a while plus the buzzing of the light lamp for him to wake up.

'Hmm,' he murmured as his eyes adjusted to the white light.

He tried to stand up, but his weak body failed up. Still, he wasn't frustrated.

Although his body was pretty banged up, his injuries closed while he was sleeping and the blood drops stopped.

Just before he got knocked out, Jake had wondered if he would bleed to death with his open and large wounds.

Seeing as he couldn't move, Jake crawled to the corpse of the two zombies.

All this while, he had been curious about their identities. They seemed like professionals, but they gave him a strange sense of familiarity.

He crawled to the senior and his mask, coming face to face with the identity behind it.

'Damn! This is getting serious,' Jake sighed.

The face behind the mask was a noble. Jake could tell that as he had seen the noble during the King's banquet.

Not wanting to draw out conclusions, he crawled again to the junior and removed his mask.

The face behind the mask was a young noble, similar to the senior's face. Jake reckoned that the both of them were somehow related, due to their resemblance.

Seeing their face had brought many questions into Jake's head.

What were they searching for?

Why were they so adamant about tying up loose ends?

Where did they get the potion from?

And most importantly, who did they work for? Where they part of a hidden movement?

Jake searched their bodies to get more clues, but he was found nothing. They were too clean, once again displaying their professionalism.

Despite being nobles, it seemed that they were very used to the life behind the masks. Jake reckoned that they have been doing similar activities for more than three years.

Also, from their conversations, they weren't the only ones!

This was obviously something Jake couldn't get involved with. In fact, he had already made up his mind to leave the kingdom once he found what he was looking for.

This was very dangerous. A group of cultivators capable of transforming into zombies. Although they would die, it would make a good suicide team when needed.

'I have to assume they have other groups that would search for them. Thereby, I have to clean my tracks,' mused Jake.

He was sure that their comrades would come here sooner or later, and when they find nothing they would become suspicious of the guest house, but they wouldn't take any drastic move, and only operate in the dark. So, what he just had to do was stay in the light!

He took a second look at the corpses and sighed, 'It will be a waste to leave them be.'

Placing his hands on the body of the junior, Jake summoned his [Purple Whirpool] and absorbed the familiar grey energy.

He noticed something strange about this particular grey energy.

It was tainted black and murky.

'Just like themselves, the [Source Energy] is tainted,' observed Jake after doing the same thing to the senior.

[Source Energy] was the name he gave to the energy that the [Purple Whirlpool] absorbs. Despite them all being grey, Jake noticed that they were distinct from one another, which each one having a unique shade of grey.

He had named it such because when absorbing the grey energy, he always feels the connection between the corpses and the grey energy. They felt far more intimate than the relationship between [Spirit Essence] and the cultivator.

Hence, the name [Source Energy].

'I can't absorb this, no matter where it would go to,' thought Jake.

Jake was all about perfection. If he absorbed something that was very far from that, he would become tainted like it.

To him, purity was a form of perfection. One didn't need to be kind and holy to be considered pure. One just needed to possess a pure mind, a mind without regret, a mind capable of killing and sleeping like a baby afterward.

That was purity! The same goes with the tainted [Source Energy]. It was too tainted, representing its owner's unperfect hybrid state.

Using one of the skills he had learned while playing around with the [Purple Whirpool], Jake used the whirlpool to rotate the [Source Energy].

He spun it around, and around, and around, refining it endlessly as the energy became purer and brighter.

After he was done, the [Source energy] turned completely grey, back to its usual self.

As he was done, Jake absorbed the energy through his whirlpool, through his hands.

He still felt nothing after absorbing it, it was the same as his previous absorption. It didn't directly help him.

Jake discerned that the [Source Energy] is different from one another. Some were more abundant and purer while some were darker.

It depended on a mixed factor of things like the owner's strength, personality, the mood before he died, and so on.

It was truly a complex mechanism. It made Jake wonder how pure his own was.

Jake took off the spatial ring from the senior hand.

He sent his energy into it and connected with it. This was only possible as the spatial ring was of the lowest grades.

It was unprotected and belonged to whoever wore it. One could easily snatch it and take the belongings contained inside the spatial ring, just like Jake was doing.

Due to the expensive price of one, this was the first time he had ever tinkered with one.

After injecting his [Spirit Essence], his senses extended into it, and he could see things inside like a two-dimensional object!

'Hmm.clothes, condom, weapons, medicine, maps,' Jake recognized all the items in the ring.

He tugged his senses at the medicine and the item came out

Grabbing it, Jake consumed the medicine and hoped for his body to heal up.

He checked the maps but he couldn't recognize them as he was expertise in that area. Jake would have to make an early trip to the Capital Librarybriimmire.

After making his plans, he closed his eyes listening to the soundless sound, and cleared his mind.
