Rise of The Anti God

Chapter 636 Heaven's Wrath?

Chapter 636 Heaven's Wrath?

After the initial wave of confusion, Damien felt a very bad feeling which left a hardening sensation in his chest as he asked doubtfully, "What…do you mean? I don't understand."

Luna crossed her arms and looked up at the skies momentarily before saying, "The Shadows of Time ability, as you know, goes against all natural laws. And because of that, it can be overpowered and broken or seem like that, but it also comes with great costs. For instance, if you use it to change the outcome of an event, in your case, the death of a loved one, you would probably make sure they won't die. But...by doing that, you are indirectly influencing their fate and tempting death to target them. What I am trying to say is that they will now have a higher chance of death."

Damien felt his heart falter for a split second before calming down and asking, "That…That is not possible. Why? It just doesn't make sense."

Kalypso, who was inside his soul plane, bit her lips, feeling for her Master, knowing how this might have been a shocker to him. After all, this entire time, he was so happy that he had gained such an ability but little did he know how that ability could be worse than a double-edged sword.

Luna shook her head and said with narrowed eyes, "As I said, you are breaking the natural laws of the universe each time you use that ability. The heavens control these laws. And do you think the heavens would sit still and watch you breaking its laws? As a punishment, it would influence every law in its arsenal to set things right. That is, the heavens will try to influence the laws around Valentina in a way to ensure her death so that things would end as they were supposed to. According to the heavens, Valentina should not be alive. And trust me when I say you don't want to fight against the heavens. That is a battle of despair which you can never win."

Damien's eyes flickered as his expression became glazed, and he looked at the horizon, feeling worried and sad. He worried because he didn't know how exactly the universe would target Valentina and sad because he was the reason Valentina might face more hardship in the future.

He never knew the heavens could be this cruel. What harm did he ever do? How can saving his loved one warrant such a punishment? It was not like he was destroying worlds. It was not right, nor was it fair.

"Then does that mean if I use this ability to save Valentina again, her chances of death would increase even more?" Damien asked, just to confirm since he didn't want to believe this cruel fact.

Luna softly nodded as she said, "Of course, you can keep on saving her by using this ability till her death becomes a frequent event where you might have to save her every day or worse, which is the worst-case scenario. But how many times before your soul essence burns out and you become nothing but a hollow bag of flesh? And after you die, who will save her?"

Damien clutched his head as he gritted his teeth, feeling as if he was truly helpless in things like this, especially if he was up against the heavens.

He felt bad for Valentina, not knowing what her fate had in store for her.

Luna felt a slight sour feeling in her chest seeing Damien being so sad and decided to switch her tone since she did get her message across, "Don't get depressed thinking about it. As I said, just don't use it again. For now, it is probably fine. The heavens might overlook just this one tiny instance. And nothing bad will happen to Valentina in an obvious way."

Luna didn't know why she was feeling bad for him. It only made her wonder if her soul was getting influenced by being in the body of a mortal.

Damien felt his heart relax the moment he heard her comforting words. He realized that Luna was not trying to scare him but trying to make sure he understood the dangers of using Shadows of Time. Still, he asked, "In an obvious way? What kind of way is that?"

"The heavenly lightning. The heavens will just strike down whoever it wants to eradicate as soon as possible. Not even beings like Yohr can escape from its wrath, let alone mortals. There is no place in the universe where you can hide from its wrath. So that is why I warned you now so that you wouldn't end up in such a situation," Luna said with a narrowed gaze.

"Then…what about you? Can you escape from its wrath?"

Luna stared at him for a second or two before shrugging, "I don't know. I never tried. But I am not eager to find out since the heavens created me to look after the universe. I always did what I was supposed to until that pig Anti-God came along."

Damien knitted his brows and said, "I know that you hate Anti-God for invading this dimension and almost killing you. But if the heavens created you to protect this dimension, then how come they never lend a helping hand to fight off Anti-God? If the heavens are supreme, why couldn't they get rid of him?"

Luna's expression flickered as she pinched her lips together before looking away with a huff, "Hmph, how do I know? I still don't remember how exactly it went down. Wait till I recover my memories fully, and then we will know. But I do remember that so-called Anti-God forcing me to split my soul. That memory…I can now remember crystal clear after merging with my second soul shard," Luna said in a biting tone.

Damien sighed, feeling bad for Luna, and wondered why Anti-God did it. He just felt in his gut that he was probably missing a lot of information here. Still, he wondered how Anti-God must have used the Shadows of Time ability. If only he was alive, maybe he could have asked him for guidance since he was the creator of this ability, after all.
