Chapter 629 Naval Net Operation: Final Battle 4 (Vol 5: END)
The Pune-class battleship and the Delhi-class battleship of the Bharatiya Empire were the main vanguard of the battle. They were responsible for holding back the Dutch Brederode, British Royal Charles, Holy Roman Nau and Galleon, and finally the French Soleil Royal.
The number of battleships on both sides was almost equal, but the advantage, as the battle went on, slightly shifted towards the Anti-Bharat Alliance since each of their ships was equipped with more guns thereby dealing more damage. However, the disadvantage of Bharat was not for long. The whole dynamics of the battle changed when the Bharatiya Empire warships started to use the shark swarm tactics. The frigates and sloops of the Anti-Bharat Alliance were no match for them.
While the enemy's small ships were only used in defence as they protected their battleships, the Bharatiya Colombo-class frigates, Chennai-class clippers, Amaravati-class frigates, and Kolkata-class clippers were used as sharp swords that went into the hinterlands of the enemy and pierced through their internal organs.
They charged past the battlefield like cavalry mowing down their enemies, from North to South and then from East to West. The battlefield had become their playground, harvesting enemy ships like harvesting grain. The Dutch, English, and French were immediately rubbed to the ground, or in this instance, on the salty sea, unable to get back up.
"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!"
In fact, the most deadly weapons used by the frigates and clippers of the Bharatiya Navy were not actually cannons, but the version 2 Puckel gun and the version 2 Scorpion grenade launchers.
Generally, in such close encounters, cannons of five-kilogram calibre used to be popular, but with the newly improved Puckle gun and the Scorpion grenade launcher, it made more sense to use them instead.
The Puckle gunshot continuously without having to manually reload. More importantly, although its power wasn't comparable to the five-kilogram cannon, its resultant effect was the same because the Puckle gun put a hole in the hull of the battleship, and the five-kilogram cannon also did the same, albeit a bigger one.
As for the grenade launcher, it was used to throw grenades onto the decks of battleships.
"ZOOP!"
*Klink!* *Klink!* *Klink!*
A Dutch sailor, who felt something touch his feet, looked down. To his dread, it was the grenade.
"Ahhh!"
"Oh! No!"
The man was blown into smithereens, while the sailors in his close vicinity were pierced by the fragments, permanently putting them out of commission.
"Get inside, get inside!" Edward Nelson, Van Goen, and other generals of the Anti-Bharat Alliance roared, as they could not find any method to deal with the pesky frigates and clippers of the Bharatiya Empire.
Maybe if they used cannons, they would have a bigger chance to hit the frigates, but with the enemy using the Puckle gun and grenade launcher, which could be considered close-quarters area-of-effect weapons, the frigates did not have to slow down as they zoomed past the battlefields with speeds upwards of 15 knots.
At such a speed, the battleships, with all their firepower, could not accurately aim.
More importantly, if they gave more than necessary attention to the frigates and the clippers, the larger Delhi-class and Pune-class battleships of the Bharatiya Navy were unforgiving. A single chance was enough for their battleships to be blasted into kingdom come.
"BOOM!"
"BOOM!"
"BOOM!"
The Bharatiya, the Dutch, the British, the French, and the Holy Roman battleships, frigates, clippers, sloops, naus, and galleons were all in a free-for-all royal rumble. Ammunition flew everywhere, blood splattered all over the place. It was chaos—full chaos.
"Ah!"
Death and destruction were happening on both sides.
The situation of the battle was different in all four battlefields, but the tactician who was given charge of allocating resources according to necessity promptly sent reinforcements and support to the battlefield whenever necessary.
Due to this, the Anti-Bharat Alliance felt constant pressure put by the Bharatiya Navy. There were no ups and downs in the offence of the enemy; it was constant like a tireless machine.
---
In the meantime, while all the resources and attention of the enemy were occupied, King Sarvesh Ranavikrama led the special forces composed of army rangers, marines, and commandos onto the coast of Madagascar.
In fact, he also divided his landing into different areas—four different areas to be precise—because the current Madagascar was ruled by four main kingdoms and many smaller kingdoms.
The Kingdom of Merina in the north, Betsimisaraka in central, Sakalava in the south, and other smaller kingdoms and city-states in the middle.
Sarvesh had read the reports about the general information regarding the people of Madagascar, and he came to know the population of the whole island wasn't more than 300 thousand people. This population was spread out among the major and minor kingdoms throughout the island, making it really spread out.
So despite only commanding 20,000 soldiers and 8,000 special forces, Sarvesh did not think it was hard to deal with the enemy.
---
The battlefield on the sea got more intense, and the colour of the ocean near the coast visibly turned a hint of red.
Even the sharks in the water and scavengers in the sky felt like they had eaten too much and left.
Gautam looked a little sad since a lot of people who were alive just a day ago had become lifeless corpses in the sea.
2 Delhi-class battleships, 4 Pune-class battleships, 15 Colombo-class frigates, 9 Chennai-class clippers, 46 Amaravathi-class frigates, and 19 Kolkata-class clippers had been destroyed.
It was a huge loss for the Bharatiya Navy, but the navy of the enemy was not better off either.
4 out of 6 Brederode-class battleships were destroyed, and 3 out of 9 ship-of-the-line battleships had sunk. 2 British Royal Charles and a single French Soleil Royal had been destroyed. Even the galleon of the Holy Roman Empire had already sunk to the bottom of the sea. As for the frigates and sloops, that was even more tragic; they simply could not put up a fight against the clippers and frigates of the Bharatiya Empire.
While the Bharatiya Empire lost nearly 30% of its naval power, the Anti-Bharat Alliance had already lost more than 40%, almost crippling the navy.
British Captain Edward Nielsen was gravely injured as a frag had pierced his chest. French Captain Abraham Duquesne had unfortunately died due to the mast of the ship he was sailing on falling on him. Holy Roman Empire Captain Michiel de Ruyter had lost his arm as he, unfortunately, got hit by a bullet from the Puckle gun. And finally, Dutch General Van Goen stood stunned, looking at the lifeless body of his executive officer.
Looking around the battlefield, he found death and destruction. He was startled, rubbing his eyes vigorously. He had an illusion that he had entered hell, feeling like Lucifer was right by his side. He felt a chill run down his spine. He could already tell that any more struggle and his whole navy would be wiped out.
"Why didn't His Highness Henry Casimir send reinforcements?" he complained, his heart pained.
"We surrender!" he declared with shame. Then, with extreme humiliation, he took off the cap from his forehead and dropped it to the floor.
The Dutch, the English, the French, and the Holy Roman Empire battleships immediately stopped attacking, and the same went for the Bharatiya warships. There was extreme silence for a few seconds until—
"Woah!"
"Hahahah!"
"Clap! Clap! Clap!"
Loud applause and cheers broke out from the battleships of the Bharatiya Empire.
The sailors hugged each other and celebrated loudly. They had won—they won against the coalition of the English, the Dutch, and the French, the great powers of Europe.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
The celebration lasted a short time since the death of their comrades began to sink in, and the adrenaline they were feeling in their bodies began to wear off.
All the enemy warships were disarmed, and all the sailors were taken into custody. The Port of Mauritius was brought under control, and the temporary docks established on the other three islands were quickly captured.
The Trumpets played the national anthem, as the flags of the European countries were removed, and the flag of the Bharatiya Empire rose up atop the islands.
Gautam immediately initiated rescue missions and cleanup operations, trying to save anyone who was still alive and trying to salvage whatever could be salvaged.
This work took a whole week, actually longer than the battle itself. In the meantime, Sarvesh had successfully captured the different kingdoms and city-states within Madagascar, proving to everyone once again why he was the most decorated and celebrated military commander in the Bharatiya Empire.
On 28th August 1659, the Bharatiya Empire fully took control of the Bharatiya Mahasa Mudra, an ocean covering an area of nearly 71 million square kilometres with a water volume of nearly 20% of the world's oceans and its boundless resources.
The Akhanda Bharatiya Empire of His Majesty, Emperor Rajapathy Vijay Devaraya, had set its first foot on the road to becoming a global superpower.

P.S. You know, when I started this volume, I thought it would be a small 50-chapter volume, yet here we are, two hundred and nineteen chapters later. As for how it got here, I swear to God I don't know. As for what I thought in the beginning when starting this volume, I don't even remember. Thanks for reading! I hope you'll enjoy the next volume starting tomorrow.
P.S. This novel could go on for another two volumes, maybe another 300,000 words or 400,000 — you know what, forget it. Even I don't trust myself.
P.S. I know there have been ups and downs in my writing quality. I just hope that the story remains fluid and understandable.
What do you think?
