Chapter 70
70 I Will Buy You
It took some seconds for Rong Yue to understand what Mo Yifan said and her face formed into a scowl as she glared at him. “In your dreams.” she spat out, eliciting a chuckle from the man.
“I wanted to extend the information but it seems like you have no interest in that.” Mo Yifan said as he moved to lean on the wall just beside him. Rong Yue looked at him in disdain.
“Now that you know, can you put being a bastard aside and tell me how you want to be paid?” she asked impatiently. After all, she had thought that the only big deal was getting access to Song Jian, she didn’t imagine that she would have to cater to this boss here.
As for Mo Yifan, he realised that this little flower in front of him didn’t seem to know who he was. If it was any normal person, just by calling him a bastard was enough to have them already out of this world.
“He owes this branch about $420,000 if you want him to be free, either you or him must gamble for this branch for free, now, here’s the catch. He has to earn that amount he owes in double and if he incurs any loss while gambling, he has to, of course, add it to the debt he already has.”
Rong Yue’s brows furrowed as she heard his words. “What if he incurs a loss all through?”
“He has only a month to repay by that option. After a month, the underworld rules have every right to sell him off at the cost of his total debt.” Mo Yifan explained.
“You can also bring an external party to help you gamble away his debt.” he added and Rong Yue nodded absent mindedly.
She had no idea on how to play cards but she knew that, almost every knowledge was available to the world class system that she had. After all, making deals with the underworld was tricky and she couldn’t guarantee that anyone she found wouldn’t be paid off by them already.
.....
“Okay, I’ll do it. But can you let him loose first?” she finally said, surprising Mo Yifan.
“Are you sure about this? $840,000 is quite the amount.” Mo Yifan warned, this time, his tone was more solemn. After all, he had taken a liking to her and didn’t want her hands to be tied later on.
The first trick to being a leader in the underworld was letting your followers know that not just anyone could change the rules you already imposed. The moment that was done, authority would be questioned and thus, he had no intention of changing the rules even for this little flower.
“Hmm, I’m sure.”
“Okay then, Miss?” Mo Yifan asked as he stretched his hands out for a shake. Rong Yue, however, just shot him a dubious look while ignoring the stretched hand.
“Rong Yue.”
“Nice to meet you Miss Yue. I’m Mo Yifan.” he said and then stepped out of the room immediately.
Some minutes later, three well built men stepped into the room and gave Rong Yue a second long glance. From their gait, she could tell very easily that they were a lot stronger than the ones she had fought with earlier.
She watched them quietly as they untied Song Jian. one of them gave him a slap on the cheeks that startled Song Jian awake.
“I doubt that was part of the instructions you were given.” Rong Yue said with dissatisfaction. The three men acted like they had heard nothing while Song Jian, who was just struggling to wake up, looked in the direction of that familiar voice.
Although he had talked to her only once, that cold and aloof voice was etched in his memory and sometimes, in his dream.
“W..what are you doing here?” he finally managed to ask and then sighed softly when he gave her one look over and realised that she wasn’t tied up. He had thought the men from the other day had finally found her.
“Here to rescue you.” Rong Yue said and gave him a small smile. Before he could say anything more, one of the three men opened the door while the other two carried him away.
Rong Yue sighed and then leaned on the wall as she made little loli begin to break down the simple concepts of card gambling. For someone that had an IQ that was deserving of the world class system, Rong Yue understood the basics in less than ten minutes. She was about to start learning about the tricks when the door to the room opened.
Two young women that looked like they were in their twenties stepped in, dressed in slutty clothes and heavily scented perfumes that immediately filled the room, Rong Yue wrinkled her brows in discomfort.
“The boss has asked us to lead you to another place.” one of the girls said as she looked at the young and attractive Rong Yue with jealousy. For someone like her that had to keep her youthfulness with bottles and tubes of makeup, someone like Rong Yue made them feel insecure and naturally jealous.
Rong Yue said no word and just followed them while keeping quite some distance away because of their perfume.
They soon led her into another room on the same floor that looked like it was designed for guests with the long sofas and tables around. The girls stepped out leaving her alone in the room.
“Because I have taken a fancy to you, I’ll be testing your skills, I would know the kind of guests you can play with.” Mo Yifan said as he stepped out from the shadows. This action of his sent alarm through Rong Yue.
He had been in here and she didn’t notice? Her perception and sense of feel about her surroundings had always been accurate. In fact, she had always felt a certain and familiar aura following her around. But since she had felt no ill intentions from it. Rong Yue had decided to leave whoever it was until they were ready to act.
But this was different. The moment she stepped in, she had probed and scanned in the best way she could. Yet, she hadn’t felt the aura from this demon that was now in front of her.
“Who are you?” Mo Yifan blurted as he stared at her constantly changing face. In the short time he was gone, he had confirmed her identity as a student. Moreover, she had been in that school since she was a child.
However, the moment she stepped into the room, he had felt her searching in that very second. Something no high school should be doing. It had seemed almost like she had been trained that way.
“Is your memory bad? I’m Rong Yue.” Rong Yue said with a scoff as she leaned back on the sofa. Her evaluation of this boss had changed the moment she realised that he could hide his presence.
“I would play two rounds with me, I know you can’t win, but it would help me evaluate your skills.” Mo Yifan said as he pulled out a pack of cards from his pocket and then sat opposite her.
Although each one of them had their thoughts, neither of them said anything as the game began.
Very quickly, they had played two rounds which could barely be considered a game as Mo Yifan had won in less than five minutes for the two rounds.
“You are terrible at this.” He groaned and felt even more worried when he saw her nonchalant shrug.
“Do you mind a third, I think you are a better teacher.” Rong Yue asked as she threw her stack of cards back at him.
Mo Yifan picked it up and arranged the deck of cards before setting the stakes.
Unlike the first two times, the third game lasted thirty minutes, surprising Mo Yifan who looked at her curiously. “Were you playing around earlier?” he asked, confused. Although she still lost, the time she could use to stand her ground was longer, also, he seemed to feel like he was playing against himself towards the end.
“I was learning.”
There was a knock on the door and after Mo Yifan gave his permission, the men from earlier stepped in with a cleaned up Song Jian.
“Lead the both of them to the fourth floor, give them the most expensive guests and let them play.” he instructed and the three men nodded at the same time, making their actions seem practised.
The whole walk to the elevator and down the elevator, Song Jian kept glancing at Rong Yue in confusion. He already knew the rules. However, as someone that had been working for the past three years with barely enough time to study and rest, he didn’t even know shit about gambling making him not agree to that option up until now.
“Can you play?” he finally summoned the courage to ask.
“No.”
“W..w...what?!” they won’t let you leave until there’s a conclusion of whether i’m to be sold or not.” Song Jian exclaimed as he felt his heart sink to the bottom.
“I’ll buy you if we lose.”
