Pokemon: Master of tactics

Chapter 349

Chapter 349

Gary walked over to Alex with a disappointed expression on his face. Despite having that expression, Gary went to Alex to congratulate him on his victory.

He held out his hand to Alex, as he said, "Congratulations. You deserve it."

Alex showed a slightly surprised expression as he shook Gary's hand.

He didn't think that Gary would say that to him after complaining the whole fight about his fighting style.

Alex smiled as he said, "Thank you. It was a great fight."

Gary said nothing more as he began to leave the arena. He didn't want to stay any longer in this place. He was pretty tired after this fight

The spectators were very friendly to Gary and Alex could hear loud applause, as Gary exited the Stadium.

Alex enjoys his victory for a few more seconds as he witnesses that many Spectators begin to shout his name loudly. A few spectators also called him "Master of tactics". It seems that this nickname became even more popular after this win.

The Stadium was extremely loud and it was difficult to understand what exactly the spectators were shouting. But even in this extremely noisy place, Alex didn't feel uncomfortable.

Crobat in particular showed an extremely happy expression as he proudly showed off his undamaged body.

Alex knew this was his last win of the tournament so, he didn't say anything and let Crobat have his fun for a bit.

In the next round, Alex has to fight against one of the top 4 trainers. He doesn't think about winning, but whether he can defeat any Pokemon from the top 4 trainers.

Alex left the Arena as he heard extremely loud shouts and applause from the Spectators.

He was walking towards the waiting room and Alex saw a staff member walking in his direction.

"Participant Alex, your next fight will start in about 30 minutes. Please wait in this room and get ready."

Alex thanks him and sits down. He started watching the TV which started showing the next fight.

Ash (Participant 9) vs Gideon (Participant 8).

Alex had no idea who would win this fight and he looked at this fight with mild interest on his face.

This fight was extremely close, but in the end, Ash won after his Charizard defeated two of Gideon's Pokemon alone.

Alex, who was watching this fight closely, noticed something weird about one of Ash's Pokemon.

It wasn't Charizard who alone had defeated two Pokemon. it was Ash's Pikachu

Pikachu was level 54 but he was defeated by a level 50 Electrode with just two Expert rank moves.

No matter how bad Pikachu's base stats are, it shouldn't be able to take that much damage from the moves of Pokemon with such a subpar level.

Alex knew from experience how much a difference of 4 levels between two Pokemon makes. Especially at the Mid-Elite level.

What made this even more strange is that this Pikachu was doing way too much damage with his attacks.

Alex has quite a lot of experience, in this world, with how much damage a Pokemon roughly would do, with a move. Although in this world it is extremely difficult to calculate precisely how much damage a Pokemon does with a move.

Level difference (between two Pokemon) and Move Mastery extremely affect how much damage a Pokemon does with one attack, but these factors require a lot of experience from a Trainer to even roughly estimate.

Move mastery is relatively easy to estimate for regular attack moves but extremely difficult to estimate for status moves.

How much damage does an Expert rank [Toxic] do? or a Master rank [Toxic]?

How much does an Expert rank [Swords Dance] increase the damage of a Pokemon?

Level difference is even harder to estimate.

How much damage does a level 50 Pikachu with an Expert rank [Thunderbolt] do against a level 40 Vileplume?.

It's extremely hard to tell how much damage Pikachu does. in this case, it's a one-hit KO. But only if [Thunderbolt] is on the Expert or Master rank.

If Pikachu defeats Vileplume with one Expert rank [Thunderbolt], could Pikachu at level 49 do it too? what about level 48 or level 47?

Alex has been a Trainer in this world for over a year and he himself didn't completely know the answer.

He was pretty sure that a level 50 Pikachu with one Expert rank [Thunderbolt] would defeat a level 40 Vileplume with one hit. But he had no idea at what level Pikachu would no longer defeat Vileplume with one [Thunderbolt].

Alex can only make a guess with the experience he had as a Trainer.

Especially that many other factors can change the answer, made it even more difficult to know the answer.

Some trainers badly train their Pokemon's body, resulting in them doing less damage than Pokemon that train their body every day.

Pokemon as a game in Alex's old world was already extremely complicated, but in this world, it was even more complex.

Alex, who understood that, wasn't surprised that there was a Pokemon school in this world.

But even with all these factors taken into account, Alex still thinks that Ash's Pikachu is extremely strange.

Ash's Pikachu was just doing way too much damage with his moves.

What makes it even weirder is that this Pikachu not only did too much damage but also takes too much damage.

Alex had no idea what was going on with this Pikachu, but he want to look at the information of this Pokemon after he saw this fight.

As Alex thinks about it, the TV showed the start of the next rounds, which will start in a few minutes.
