Chapter 2124 The Demon(s) in the Sea
Sir Alan poured his mana into the scroll, causing it to crackle under the weight of the condensed mana. In an instant, a huge metallic plate emerged right above Sir Alan and everyone was told to disperse away from the plate as far as they could.
In the meantime, shots continued to disrupt the sea serpent pairings so that they did not see the metallic plate as the immediate threat. Once everyone was clear of the plate's radius, Sir Alan took out another scroll which was meant to be the activation button that would power up the plate.
All of a sudden a loud humming sound was generated from the plate and the sea serpents started to vibrate. Not because of any energy interference but it was due to the chains that had been wrapped all around them and the scrolls that were hanging in midair were tightening.
Those were the EX Ranked magical scrolls of No Escape where once the enemy had been selected, a series of chains or a chain (depending on the size of the enemy) would be pulled toward the scroll. That is if the chain had managed to capture the said enemy. But for this particular enemy, one Ex Ranked magical scroll was not enough as speculated by Sir Alan and his experience with it.
As the name suggested, Those 'No Escape' scrolls were pulling the monsters to their direction but however hard it was trying to pull, it was not moving an inch away. It did however severely tighten the noose around those Sea Serpent's bodies but it did not seem to have much effect on them as they were not suffocating at all.
Yet, Sir Alan was fortunate that he and the Sea Hunters had brought tens of them in case there were more twisted pairs of sea serpents lurking around. As such, when the metal plate started to hum, those chains began to be attracted to the said metal plate which Jin from afar could see that the science of his modern world was working as per normal in this world as well.
That plate is practically a magic based magnet which was capable of high attraction force depending on the amount of magic that had been stored within the magnet.
Suffice to say, Jin and Gara did assist in enchanting the scroll before giving it to Sir Alan before the operation and what Sir Alan did was boost its attraction power to another notch, causing the magnet to be more than sufficient in attracting all of the chains that had been spread in that wide area of sea.
As soon as the magic magnet had been fully activated all of the 'No Escape' Chains were been lifted off the sea and started carrying the Sea Serpents up to where the plate was. With the activation scroll, Sir Alan was also able to lift the magnet plate up even further into the skies, causing all of the serpents to be elevated as well.
As such, Sir Alan finally confirmed his theory as those serpents really did not have any tail at all as another set of black mass was being carried upwards as the magnet plate went up in the sky. It was actually a giant demon octopus with those so called sea serpents as its tentacles.
Even the Pandarians who were fighting at the sidelines saw the entire octopus being lifted up by the magnet plate and were appalled by its sheer size. "What are you Sea Hunters waiting for? You call yourselves the Sea Hunters when you can't move an inch after seeing that Sea Demon!" Jin shouted through the communications and the ex citizens of Lyro finally snapped out of their horror and amazement.
They quickly pulled out their guns and started to use the stronger explosive shots that had been saved just for such an occasion. Even Sir Alan brought out the big guns as he had pull an artillery cannon in his storage ring just for this moment. With his powers, he was able to levitate the artillery cannon and maneuver it in such a way that it was capable of loading an artillery shell by itself.
After all, Jin's magic equipment had some sort of automation built into the weapons in order to make things easier. This was true for the Sea Hunters' rifles as they were holding one of the newer gen models of rifles which allowed auto accumulation of mana from the atmosphere without the users interfering.
This resulted in better bullet power control and this was one of the factors that enabled the Sea Hunters to shoot in rapid succession injuring the octopus as its outer layer got damaged by the chain of explosions.
The artillery cannon that Sir Alan used was not a joke as well. It acted as a piercing round which enabled it to move through organs and come out of with the shell continued to spin into the depths of the outer seas.
If it was not for the fact that the Demon Octopus was trapped by the magnetic plate, caused by the lifting of its sea serpent tentacles, it would have been a formidable foe for even the Sea Hunters despite their training in Ress.
With this, the revenge was over as the Demon Octopus appeared to be lifeless after the multiple series of shots that eventually killed it. The rest of the Vampiric Werewolves posed no challenge to the seasoned Pandarian War Mages and all that was left were minor demons which the remaining Rifle Mages and Sea Hunters had decided to stay back and clean it up.
As for Jin, he had started to put up another isolation barrier which was now backed up with the System's innovative invention. The use of improvised smithing and a few tricks from the System Science Department enabled Jin to create an isolation barrier that does not eat up his Maqi.
Even though it was not obvious, the System indicated that the isolation barriers in Ress, as well as the Royal Ress Fields, were eating up Jin's resources. Continue your journey with empire
That was why he had always felt that despite the secondary system's stat improvement programme, he was not able to see a leap in his abilities. But with the System's intervention and the use of the Isolation Barrier Core Generator, Jin was able to realise the strength coursing through him.
It was no wonder that he suddenly felt a surge of energy fighting against Lord Vishnu even though that realisation was insufficient to compensate for the death of his military leader. "Let's continue to work hard," Jin said to himself as he saw the isolation barrier start to go up in the ruins of Lyro.
