Chapter 79 You're The So-Called Gong Long?

Feng Fan sat cross-legged in the center of an artificial pond inside his room.

Around the edges of the pond, numerous low-grade qi stones glimmered faintly, their spiritual energy gradually being drained. The qi-gathering array surrounding the pond amplified the process, channeling the energy into Feng Fan as he absorbed it steadily.

For the next two weeks, Feng Fan devoted himself entirely to cultivation. His meridians awakened steadily, and the density of his muscles grew stronger with each passing day.

With every hour of intense focus, it felt as if he was transforming into an entirely new person.

At the end of two weeks, Feng Fan's eyes snapped open.

"Peak of the Qi Gathering and Body Forging realms!" he exclaimed, a satisfied smile spreading across his face. "Just one more step, and I'll break through to the Foundation Establishment and Bone Forging realms."

He channeled his energy through his body, completing a full circulation of qi within his 144 meridians. His muscles flexed as he tested their strength, feeling the raw power coursing through him.

"If I were to face Xiao Xiaobo now, I wouldn't need to play the punching bag to beat the crap out of him," he muttered with a confident grin.

"I think it's time to visit the Fifth Peak again," Feng Fan mused to himself. "I want to test my strength against Foundation Establishment cultivators and see if my current cultivation is enough to handle them."

He recalled the Fifth Peak, a bustling place where training duels and wagers were common.

The last time he had been there was before stepping onto the cultivation path, when he fought against 1st Qi Gathering realm disciples to remodel his body.

Since then, he hasn't returned.

"Maybe I can make some money too," he thought with a grin. "Cultivation resources are never enough, after all. Last time, I didn't have a single penny to bet, but now I've got plenty. I doubt most Qi Gathering realm cultivators have more than me."

With his decision made, Feng Fan left his house and headed toward the Fifth Peak, eager to test his strength and strike it rich.

As Feng Fan immersed himself in the joy of cultivating and feeling his strength steadily grow, someone else was having a much less pleasant time.

"So, you're the so-called Gong Long who dared to cross my men?"

A man with a scholarly demeanor and long, flowing hair stared menacingly at Gong Long, or rather, the Heavenly Demon Monarch, who had taken possession of Gong Long's body.

The Heavenly Demon Monarch shot him a cold glare.

"Who the hell are you? I don't know what you're talking about. Get lost!"

Even though the Heavenly Demon Monarch could currently summon only the power of a third-level Foundation Establishment cultivator, far from being a match for the peak-level opponent before him, his pride as a monarch was unshakable.

Bowing to anyone was simply not an option.

Mao Wencheng's expression darkened. "Hmph. My name is Mao Wencheng! You attacked my man, so now I'm going to beat the hell out of you!"

With that declaration, Mao Wencheng launched himself forward.

Spiritual qi surged into his legs as he executed a powerful front kick aimed directly at the Heavenly Demon Monarch's abdomen.

The Heavenly Demon Monarch channeled spiritual qi into his arms to block the attack, but his current cultivation level was too weak to withstand it fully.

Adding to his disadvantage, he hadn't yet been able to cultivate his heaven-defying techniques, as he lacked full control over the body he possessed.

The possession technique he used required roughly a year to extinguish the original owner's soul completely. Until then, the body wasn't entirely his to command.

Mao Wencheng's powerful kick shattered the Heavenly Demon Monarch's defenses, sending him flying several meters before his back slammed into the wall of a nearby house.

A crowd of disciples quickly gathered around, eager to witness the spectacle.

While Gong Long wasn't well-known, Mao Wencheng certainly was.

His reputation as a vengeful and unforgiving individual made him someone no one wanted to provoke.

Though Mao Wencheng wouldn't kill Gong Long, most spectators were convinced he was about to leave him bedridden for days.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

The Heavenly Demon Monarch, his eyes shut tight in pain, slowly opened them, revealing a burning fury.

"Damn it! I've been beaten for many reasons in my life, but getting attacked for something I didn't do? That's a first!"

Mao Wencheng didn't give him a moment to recover, swiftly closing the distance and raining down merciless punches.

"This is a lesson for you! No matter what my people did, it's not your place to punish them!" he shouted, each punch landing with brutal force.

The Heavenly Demon Monarch endured blow after blow to the head.

Soon, his face was swollen and disfigured, more resembling a beaten pig than a human. Blood streamed from his mouth and nose, pooling on the ground as he lay motionless.

"Hmph. Let this be a warning. Next time, I'll beat you even worse, Gong Long!" Mao Wencheng spat, turning on his heel and walking away without a second glance.

'Mao Wencheng, is it? Just wait, you bastard. I'll pay you back for this humiliation!' the Heavenly Demon Monarch vowed silently, his rage simmering beneath the surface.

"I wonder what that poor guy did to provoke Mao Wencheng. Doesn't he know better than to mess with someone like him?" one onlooker muttered.

"Heh, that's his problem. Let's go," another replied with a shrug.

Left on the ground, battered and humiliated, the Heavenly Demon Monarch almost shed tears of frustration.

He had endured countless beatings in his lifetime, but being pummeled for something he didn't even do nor knew about was new and infuriating.

The crowd, seeing the spectacle come to an end, quickly dispersed. No one spared Gong Long a second look, his well-being seemingly of no concern.

Though his injuries were severe, they weren't life-threatening. After all, he was a cultivator, and such wounds, while painful, wouldn't kill him.
