Chapter 125 Deal or no deal?
125 Deal or no deal?
"Spark-Less are those hated by the heaven or, for better terms, those not loved by it."
Liyue looked at Hua Feilan's attractive and beautiful face, which was full of sighs. "If your father, Pang Li, were to be here, he would have never let you marry someone so useless; not to be rude, Liyue, but the truth is the truth."
Liyue was a bit flustered and looked away. Her big brother hadn't taught her what to say in a scenario like this.
Hua Feilan, on the other hand, continued seriously. "I do accept that he looks handsome and has all the redeeming features you would want in a husband. But as you said, your children… what assurance do you have that they won't inherit his traits and be Spark-Less, too? In fact, I just came to know this, or I might have acted rather differently to him earlier in the dressing area."
Liyue asked, a bit nervous. "But isn't not having a Spark and having failed Evolution the same… don't people marry after failing if they don't have some really bad crippling issues?"
"No, Liyue," Hua Feilan said even more seriously but faint enough that the people near them didn't hear her. Luckily, the bride won't be disturbed much before the night ends as that was considered disrespectful to the husband.
That was the reason she was wearing a veil in the first place. It represented her maidenhood—of course, her maidenhood was quite unique since she had experienced the forbidden fruit (only in the back) already.
Hua Feilan spoke, "Sparks are most of the time inherited from the parents, and usually, your Starlight Spark and your previous fiance Li Ming's Starlight Spark becoming one would have given birth to an even more talented Starlight member. But this one… maybe your child might be born with a Starlight Spark, or maybe none, like him."
Liyue took a silent second to ponder it.
Hua Feilan rationally told her even more of what she was missing. "I know people like Han Li might look pitiful to you and you might have already grown close to him. But don't be blinded by how he supports you, he is not worth it. I will find you a better man, in fact, I know someone who will fit you perfectly. Don't mind the marriage since I have ways you could undo it just as easily as you were bound."
Liyue sighed. "What can I do at this point… I am already pregnant with his child…"
Hua Feilan was stunned and looked at Liyue with a pale face. Liyue sighed once more. "I am becoming more shameless, and that was a joke…"
And she really did feel very comfortable around this person to the point it was becoming slightly suspicious. She wondered if she was being played around with some Magic. But that shouldn't be, not when Han Li was around.
Liyue smiled. "Sorry, but you will have to talk with my Husband before introducing another man to me. I think he is the sort that gets angry when other men approach his women, and well, it is hilarious to think of, though."
"What is hilarious?" 'That my Brother Han could be even considered inferior,' Liyue said in her mind.
She then smiled and looked towards Han Li who was talking with a deep frown with his two mothers at a distance. She could see the faint sense of anxiety on the two women's faces. She furrowed her brows.
"And Big Sis, were you ever in love with someone?" she asked, a bit worried.
"Me?" Hua Feilen sensed how she wasn't being taken seriously and stopped bothering—she could take a clue. "I do not love, and I would not love. But you are far too young to understand my dilemmas, so well, since you do not mind any issues I mentioned… Liyue, I can only bless for you a great life full of luck and fortune."
Just as they were about to continue speaking, they saw Han Li coming towards them while Yue Li and Li Yao followed behind him nervously. Many people's gazes were on Han Li and the core part of the family where the marriage was happening, but now, Han Li didn't care.
He walked with them and told them to gather in the dressing area once more.
Hua Feilan was curious and Liyue nodded worriedly.
…
Inside the Tree Hollow.
Han Li took a deep breath and then breathed out. "Miss Hua, did you receive any intelligence about what is going on?"
Liyue was sitting at his side; today was her day, so Yue Li wasn't one to be stubborn—even though she was already wishing for the day to end already, she was growing uncomfortable and tense; what Han Li said earlier didn't sit well with her.
Liyue muttered in Han Li's ears, "She did gather information, but not about the situation but about you, big brother."
Hua Feilan saw it and felt as if she was betrayed, but she sighed. "I have no guts to go investigate a clan; I value my head quite a lot, you see. So, any way that I could learn something about it?"
Nodding, Han Li leaned towards her and looked into her eyes. "What do you say about a deal? A deal that would net you ten times the amount that you earned through this marriage?"
Her sapphire eyes sparkling, she looked back at him, and an intimidating Soul Sense surrounded Han Li. "That would be nearly twenty thousand Sacred Coins. Are you sure?"
Han Li smiled coldly. "I am sure, and in fact, I am sure it won't be much of an issue for you to complete the mission, too."
Curious, the Soul Sense vanished, and she looked at him with a tilted head. "What is the catch? What is it that you want the matchmaker association to handle?"
"I want you to protect my family for the next three days. It might be less days, but not more. And for just that, you earn 20000 Sacred Coins."
"I have no proof that you own such wealth," Hua Feilan's orange-specked hair seemed to brighten as if it was a flame; her sapphire eyes, on the other hand, seemed like molten rock. Han Li put his hand to the side and brought out a small bag. It was all the money he had collected from around the area with his future knowledge, and it contained five thousand coins.
He dropped it on the ground, and the coins made jingling noises.
"I am willing to pay before I go, but I would want you to take a vow."
Hua Feilan scanned Han Li from top to bottom. "You seem like the other rumor of you more than the one I believed in."
Han Li shrugged. "All of them are people's pastimes, so say…"
He paused.
His eyes grew a calmness that not even his mother noticed.
"Miss Hua, what do you say?"
Pondering, Hua Feilan nodded. "I can see something is going on, but I have no plans to waste such good money. You have my word."
Han Li's eyes grew even calmer. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Can we talk somewhere else private?"
