Chapter 45: [Empower]ed
Chapter 45: [Empower]ed
Kace felt his legs trembling. He had not expected to get caught out like this. 'I never even thought about illusions!' he swore silently. He should have noticed with off the patrols had felt to him.
They simply did not act like real humans! Cursing himself he could only watch on as his would be captors descended from their high ground.
Lucas's hand was trembling in anticipation. 'Once I let Urien give him a beating that reward is all mine!' he thought.
As they closed in on Kace he was unsure of what to do. He was positive that if he tried to escape he would only get himself killed. 'It looks like these must be the guys who didn't tire themselves out today.' he thought as he glanced around them.
Some of them backed off when their eyes met his golden glare. Sweat was visibly appearing on their brow. Kace released his aura putting even more pressure on their mental state of mind. Causing many of them to halt in their tracks.
Lucas felt a knot in his brow forming. He could feel the pressure emanating from Kace. 'Damn! I still haven't recovered yet!' He was getting aggravated. He had hoped that these numbers would force the monster to back down. He never imagined that after fighting all day it would still be close to peak condition.
This was far from the truth however. Kace was only in his good state due to having a few 'snacks' during the fight to recover his health. Coupled with a short rest basically all his stats had returned to full.
That did not mean that he was not mentally tired though. 'Just a bit closer!' his muscles tightened as they prepared for what was to come. A murderous look was being worn behind his mask but it was definitely being reflected in his eyes.
"Just hurry up!" Urien roared as he went red in the face. A large vein in his neck popping out from the force of his yell.
More than half of the ambush force were now within range. Taking a deep breath and feeling the rush of air fill his lungs he did it. [Kinetic Vision]! [Empower]!
The surrounding humans suddenly felt weak. Some collapsed as the mental pressure turned on them suddenly spiked to unexpected levels!
This was Kace's trump card. The more he was outnumbered when he used [Empower] the stronger the effects would be. Sweat began pouring Lucas's temples. He had felt the drastic change. 'Th... This is impossible!' the aura coming from Kace was no longer like a mud, it had turned into a violent and sharp feeling. As if being close to him meant that you would lose your head.
Fear entered his mind. He had not recovered yet and he was in no way prepared to deal with this! He had only brought a small group to avoid alerting their prey! Now it was them who would be hunted.
With a deafening roar Kace seemed to vanish from the sight of many surrounding him. Like a demon of death he moved at inhuman speeds. Passing silently his victim would feel a breeze, followed by a slight sting before blood would begin to seep out of the wound they never knew they had.
In less than five second ten of his assailants felt various parts of their body begin to slide against each other. Heads slid off their necks, arms or legs were suddenly missing. Some even watched in horror as their top halves separated from their bottom.
Kace had reappeared as he stopped moving. His muscles were screaming in agony! They were bulging and throbbing. He may have the stats but his body was not up to scratch. It was an overload of power on his low level physical body.
At this point due to initiating the battle he could see Urien's and Lucas's information.

Kace's eyes narrowed until they were like two small pins. Hatred and anger swam in his eyes. His veins were bulging slightly from pumping all the adrenaline fuelled blood through his veins.
His prey was weak and he had never felt so powerful. He roared once again. The whole town heard it. It was a roar full of emotion. The raw anger and grief seeped deep into the bones of everyone that was within the walls.
Many recognised that kind of sound. It was similar to the sounds made by a trapped beast when death was approaching them.
He felt his muscles explode with power as he leapt forth! If he was to die here then Lucas was coming with him!
"Fire! FIRE!" Lucas screamed as all hope drained from his face. He no longer cared who killed the creature. His life was not worth it. 'We've truly awoken a dragon!'
The magic users who were still atop the roofs took a moment to react. They just wanted to run!
Spells came raining down towards where Kace was on a projected course to be. After all they could only make out their comrades dieing meaningless deaths, entirely unable to defend themselves.
As the wind blew past them precendented by a slight black blur of a shadow they knew the reaper had come for them. Several standing I Kace's path had already been broken mentally. Releasing their bowels as they sobbed uncontrollably. Weak and defenceless like a newborn placed before a wolf.
The spells were almost upon him. The pain in his body was swiftly becoming even more intense. He ground his teeth in an effort to bare the pain. [Stampede]!
The spells exploded where he had stood. Debris rained down and clattered as it struck the buildings. The assault had killed a number of their own people. Their bodies and lifeless eyes covered in dirt as they lay strewn about the street.
'A noble sacrifice that had to be made!' Lucas though as he felt his body relaxing. This definitely sounded like a valid excuse that he could give.
Then he noticed it. The dust cloud that had been raised had a clear path through it. Where the air had been disturbed by something moving swiftly.
"FUCK!!!" he roared as with trembling hand he barely managed to form a stone wall before him.
An explosion sounded against the wall. Completely shattering it and pelting Lucas with the stone that blown towards him.
"Ugh!" Lucas let out a groan of extreme pain.
His whole body was lifted into the air from the force of a blow to his gut. Blood leaked from his mouth as he coughed. A black gauntleted fist was lodged in his stomach.
"No!" he wheezed.
As the fist removed itself it was followed up by the flat of the viscious halberd as it slammed into him. Being swung like a baseball bat going for home run.
The strike shattered the right side of his ribcage. He could feel it as the snapped ribs penetrated into his internal organs as he was flying from the force.
His body slammed and bounced across multiple rooftops. Before finally coming to a halt as he struck a stone chimney. It was such a powerful blow the stone cracked and the chimney creaked as it toppled I to the alley below.
His vision was swimming. Unable to make sense of what was happening at all. It took a few seconds for everything to register itself within his mind.
'I'm going to die...' he thought. Tears would not come to his eyes. They were red and swollen but he had no tears to shed for himself. As if that would be the signal for his life to be stolen.
As his vision gained clarity he could see the black armoured, hooded monster walking calmly over the roof towards him. It was not even trying to keep its movements silent anymore.
Each footsteps cause a metallic sound to ring out. Every single one like a small chime playing the music of death. Behind his potential executor he could only watch helplessly as his men who had once been loyal were fleeing the scene.
Not a single one was attempting to rescue him. Not even Urien, who so desperately wanted to bury this monster. As the yelling and screaming of the ambush force disappeared into the night Kace stood over the pathetic sight of Lucas.
"Kill... Kill me!" Lucas coughed out, his voice still holding a piece of pride and defiance.
"Oh, don't worry. You'll definitely die. However there's no need for me to make it easy on you!" Kace said in low, menacing tones. A disgusted sneer crept across his face.
The whole thing had only taken roughly two minutes. So he did not have a lot of time left to act on what he wanted to do. He could feel his body fighting against him. Reaching its limits.
