Chapter 29: One Sided Beating
Chapter 29: One Sided Beating
Kace made his way around the entire perimeter of the mansion. All the while avoiding the guards attention. He was looking for any potential ways into the building and eventually he found one.
A large window had been left open that led to hallway. Presumably the staff inside the mansion must have felt that with the guards being present, plus the window being so high of the ground then nobody could get in that way. How wrong they were!
Kace immediately used his [Spider Thread] again to easily scale the wall. As he slipped inside the building he realised the hallway had no good places to take cover. 'Even with [Curtain of Night] it wouldn't do to be complacent.' he thought, feeling apprehensive.
Silently he made his way down the hallway, checking the different doors as he went. There was nothing worth noting for the rooms he peeked into. They were all what he guessed to be standard for a mansion based on the books he had read or games he had played.
He clicked his tongue as he passed an extremely detailed nude statue, posed in an unflattering manner. 'Don't think I would call this art. I'll need to remember and destroy this if Vaskra ever comes to town. She doesn't need any influences that could be bad for my health.'
Shaking his head as he continued on he eventually found a bedroom with someone snoring inside. Sliding into the room he closed the door gently behind him. Just in time to hear footsteps walking down the hall. With a sigh of relief he took in the sight of the room.
The bed itself was a large four poster bed. Much larger than any bed he had seen or heard of back on Earth. There were a few paintings that looked as though they were probably representations of some great battles. A neat desk with a mirror was against one wall and a comfortable looking couch against another.
Expensive looking wardrobes and drawers were present in what seemed to be a walk in wardrobe. A fur rug adorned the floor and feeling it with his hand Kace almost gasped. 'This feels amazing! I wonder if I can take this with me?' he pondered. Reluctantly giving up on the idea as he realised it was not feasible.
He crept up beside the bed to get a look at the person sleeping inside. The face was covered forcing him to carefully peel back the blankets to reveal the face. After a good look he was now certain. 'So, it really is him.'
'If I'm remembering correctly his name should be... Roger. Yeah, that's what she said when she was threatening him.'
Placing a hand over the boys mouth he shook him till he woke. Roger's eyes went wide in panic. Instantly believing he was about to die or be abducted. After all, he was sure that his father would pay a hefty ransom to get him back.
Kace placed a finger to his lips, telling the boy to be quiet. As Roger settled down and stopped struggling Kace could the trace of fear in his eyes. Kace turned his head to allow Roger to see his face beneath the hood.
Roger gasped in surprise. How could he not recognise the man who had saved him from Rose that day?! But why would that man be sneaking about his house? Better yet why was he in his bedroom?
Roger's face went from a look of fear to confusion, then to panic as he remembered stories he had been told about men visiting men in the night. His arse cheeks clenched as tight as they could.
"W-why are you here?" Roger managed to stutter.
Kace furrowed his brows at this reaction. 'Does he not remember me?'
"Do you remember who I am?" he asked.
"Ofcourse! You're the one who saved me that time!" Roger replied earnestly.
"Hm, do you trust me to save you again?"
"I-I don't understand. Save me from what?"
"Your brother." Kace replied slowly.
"No! You're mistaken! Elder brother would never harm me!"
'So, this won't be so easy.' Kace thought.
"Who do you think set Rose on you?" he replied.
"I don't believe you!"
'This is going nowhere.' He thought, getting sick of the conversation with Roger. He had hoped this could go smoothly and he could some benefits. 'I was too naive.'
Kace swiftly dealt a blow to Roger, knocking the boy out. 'If this were a game or a novel that probably would've worked.' he sighed. 'Forget it. His brother has to go anyway.'
Kace was already certain there was no other members of the family inside the mansion. Since he was not willing to kill Roger off just yet that left only one potential target. Like a shadow he sped through the mansion. Making his way towards where he believed the study from earlier was.
As he approached the corner that would take him to the study he heard voices and footsteps. Using [Spider Thread] again he attached himself to the shadows covering the ceiling.
'I really do feel like an assassin. Do I just have to give my dreams?' He thought as he blended in. As the voices got closer he recognised them. One was Roger's brother, another belonged to Rose however the third was entirely unknown to him.
As they came around the corner he noticed there was in fact five in the group. The two guys who were with Rose in the alley before were also there. 'I'm running out of time. I'm just going to have to do it now.'
As they passed below his position he dropped. Landing on top of Rose's two aquaintaces knocking them to the ground. With each one pinned beneath a knee each he violently drove a dagger deep into an eyeball of each of them. Swiftly putting an end to there lives.
Wrenching the daggers out, they were followed with a splatter of blood and brains. Rose and the new guy had reacted to the ambush spinning to face him. Kace rapidly tossed the pair of daggers at Roger's brother who had been slow to react to the development.
However, the man with him easily deflected them with his bare hands. Rose had drawn her blade and stood at the ready. As she glared at him she recognised the coat that he wore. After all it was rather unique.
"It's you! David! This is the man who stopped us before!" Rose yelled, directing it at Roger's brother.
"Oh really? Has that little shit actually grown a spine? No. That's not it. Whatever. Gregory, deal with him." David ordered.
With a nod the one called Gregory rushed forward. Kace prepared to meet the blow. Widening his stance to keep his balance. As Gregory closed in he threw a straight jab at Kace's face. 'Child's play.' Kace scoffed in his mind. Dodging the blow and thrusting his sword into his opponents chest.
"What the...?" Kace involuntarily let out as his sword met no resistance.
The image of Gregory faded away only for a new one to appear on Kace's defenceless side. With a kick like thunder, Gregory's foot slammed into Kace's side. Easily blasting him through the air and into the wall.
As blood spurted from his mouth Kace felt an overwhelming amount of pain racking his ribs. Before he could recover Gregory began giving him a one sided beat down. Each blow shaving away his HP steadily. 90%, 85%, 75%, 60%.
Kace began to panic, feeling powerless in the face of overwhelming power. [Kinetic Vision: Activated]. With its help he was finally able to parry the blows that came in a storm of fury. Although he was now able to keep up he could not find an opportunity to use any of his spells. He was completely forced into a passive state.
Sweat ran down his face as he struggled. He was feeling the pressure as this ability had a time limit based on his AP. 'That's it! Stampede! I can't believe I forgot!' he thought feeling excited.
Preparing himself he activated [Stampede]. Gregory's next blow failed to damage him catching him off guard. Kace's extreme speed rush and failing to damage him with his blow stunned Gregory for a split second.
That was all he needed though. Having opened his opponent up he swung his blade. As it fell, slashing Gregory across the chest, Kace felt panic sweep in once again. There was no resistance yet again!
Once again Gregory's form faded away only for him to reappear in Kace's blind spot. With a smirk Gregory unleashed a combo. Kace watched his health drop yet again. 50%, 45%, 35%, 20%.
Kace was once again wracked with pain as he was blown into the wall again. 'I-I don't know what he's doing! I don't even see him move!' Kace screamed in fear to himself. He had never received such a one sided beating since coming here. 'How can I get out of this!'
