Chapter 531: The Real Taste
"Dreamspace furniture, furniture that feels like family."
Two days had gone by and just like the goalkeeper said, he was in Dreamspace's studio as they were shooting the promotional video with him being the model.
He wasn't sure that they would accept the suggestion he wanted to make but to his surprise, they accepted his idea with open arms, even saying that it was better than what they had planned.
Their initial plan involved having Dave on stage with a woman and two kids to give a real sense of family to the people who would find the video.
The goalkeeper's suggestion was to have Emma be in it since she was visibly pregnant. The director of the video was quick to agree to that as he believed it would make the video more authentic.
<I don't understand, if he thought that would make it more authentic, couldn't they have just used someone else and faked the pregnancy part? But of course, you just wanted your wife to be in the video>
'I don't know why you bother asking questions you already know the answer to.'
The time was currently half past two so the video shoot had already been wrapped up, that was the reason why Dave was in the reception room the company used to receive special guests like him, and of course, Emma was there with him.
At the moment, Dave was standing near the glass windows, staring outside with his arms crossed.
Emma on the other hand was sitting on the couch in the room, her gaze fixated on the screen of the tablet she was holding.
"Hey, honey." She called, turning to Dave with a worried expression on her face.
That was about the twelfth time she had called him since they walked into the room and they were all for the same reason.
"What is it?" He turned to her with a sigh.
"Are you sure I did okay in this? My posture seems off in some of the scenes." She remarked, tilting the tablet to the left as she tilted her head toward the same direction.
Watching and listening to her say that, Dave couldn't help but shake his head.
"I already told you." He uttered as he made his way to her. "You did just fine, the director even said so."
"I know but…"
"Stop worrying over nothing." He said before taking the tablet.
He was about to play the video and see what exactly she was talking about but his hands suddenly stopped mid-air.
The reason why he stopped was because of the particular scene where she paused the video.
The image was one where Emma was sitting on the couch with her left hand on her hump.
Dave was sitting beside her but he had the kids that were in the video around him, the little girl was on his shoulders while the boy was standing beside him.
He stared at that image so much that he didn't know when a smile appeared on his face.
"And what are you smiling for now?"
That was enough to snap him out of his daze as he turned to Emma to see that she had a subtle smile on her face.
"I was just thinking how we might actually have a family like this one day." He responded as he handed the tablet back to her.
"Oh."
She suddenly paused at that moment with her gaze now fixated on the screen.
"Is anything the matter?"
"No." She shook her head. "It's just funny because I had the same thought while we were shooting this scene." She disclosed, turning to him with a smile.
_______ _______
After finally meeting with the person who wanted to talk to him, the goalkeeper proceeded to head home with his wife.
They were on the road at the moment with Dave obviously being the one on the steering wheel while she sat beside him, going through her tablet.
Unable to completely focus on the road, Dave would constantly glance at her when she wasn't looking his way unaware that she could see him still.
"You know, I would appreciate it if you focused more on the road." She remarked, her gaze still fixated on her tablet.
<Busted>
"Are you sure you're comfortable there?" He asked after letting out a sigh. "The backseat would be better for you."
"Hey, I already told you not to worry, I'm perfectly comfortable and if it starts feeling uncomfortable, I'll let you know."
"I guess that's fair enough."
There was a little moment of silence between the two after that before Emma decided to say something.
"Hey, have you seen?"
"Seen what?" Dave asked.
"There's currently a fan poll going on about who has been Unique FC's player of the season so far." She disclosed.
"Okay, but don't people do that all the time?"
"That's true but this one is different, for some reason, it seems to have gotten a lot of attention and a lot of voters as well." She remarked, scrolling on the tablet.
"How many voters?"
"Currently, two point three million."
"Yeah, that is a lot given the fact that the population of Bilbeth is a little over three million."
"Well, a good number of the voters are not from Bilbeth, I'm sure of that." She replied. "Do you want to know where you place on the poll?"
"Mhm, tell me."
"Why don't you take a guess." She responded with a smirk.
"A guess. Well, I'll say second or third." He shrugged as he took a turn to the left.
"Second or third huh, I see you rate yourself quite highly now."
"I'm just being logical, based on everything I've seen this season, I believe I should be around those two spots."
"He says confidently." She chuckled.
"Wait, is that not it?" He turned to her with a confused expression on his face.
"You said you were being logical but clearly you don't see the bigger picture." She said before taking a deep breath. "You're currently ranked first, babe."
"Oh." He responded.
The tiniest bit of surprise wasn't present in his expression.
"Well, that wasn't the reaction I was expecting."
"A part of me felt that would be it but I just didn't feel like saying it." He uttered. "I'm guessing Mateo's in second place then."
"Yeah, you have four hundred and fifty thousand votes while he has four hundred and forty-eight thousand." She disclosed.
"Not that far off, he might overtake me you know."
"Yeah, that's within the realms of possibility but it is still impressive how you managed to get this many votes."
"Yeah, who's in third place?"
"Merino, he has three hundred and ten thousand votes currently." She disclosed.
"No surprise there."
He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket at that moment, and with one hand now on the steering, he reached for his pocket.
"Hey, you shouldn't be doing that." Emma snapped with an annoyed expression on her face.
She returned his hand to the steering wheel before helping him pull his phone out of his pocket.
"It's from Clark." She said after unlocking the phone. "Can I check it?"
"Sure, go ahead." He nodded.
She clicked the message after that, and now she was just staring at the screen.
"I just finished drafting the schedule, it's going to be a busy week for you buddy." She read out loud. "Is this about the numerous sponsorship deals you've been getting lately?"
"Yes." The goalkeeper responded with a sigh.
<Get ready, you're about to get a real taste of what it's like to be a widely famous footballer>
'You make it sound fun.'
