Chapter 427: Chapter 427: I have never loved you…_1

“There are many employees in the company. Will it not run without me?” After Ye Qilan finished speaking, he briskly walked away.

Every time Su Hongxing met with Cao Zhen, he felt a twinge of unease, always suspecting they were plotting something big.

Could the calmness and return to normalcy in Su Hongxing be because Cao Zhen promised to take her away?

He could not think of any other possibilities.

Ye Qilan plotted how to fish for information from Su Hongxing.

As soon as he entered the living room, he saw Su Hongxing dismissing men she previously brought from The Red House.

“Ye Qilan, give them some money,” Su Hongxing, seeing Ye Qilan had arrived, pushed the two men towards him.

Ye Qilan’s eyes sparkled with laughter, willingly complied.

He had disliked these two men from the start, wanting them to leave as soon possible.

Now, finally, they were gone, and no more outsiders remained in Qingmu Garden. Moving forward, it would just be him and Su Hongxing, living peacefully.

After seeing off the two outsiders, Ye Qilan returned to the living room, only to be called over by Su Hongxing: “Ye Qilan, let’s have a talk.”

Ye Qilan knew too well that this so-called ‘talk’ probably wasn’t going to bring good news.

But, Su Hongxing was rarely this composed, and such an opportunity was too precious to miss.

Su Hongxing sat upright on the sofa, watching Ye Qilan elegantly making tea.

His movements were smooth and flowing as he prepared the tea – a sight to behold.

“I’m planning to move out. After all, given our present circumstances, it’s inappropriate for me to stay here.” Su Hongxing took the tea, took a delicate sip.

No one wants to leave familiar surroundings unless absolutely necessary. She hoped to stay in this city, and if she could convince Ye Qilan not to hound her further, there was no point in leaving her roots behind.

“Do you think I’ll agree?” Ye Qilan responded.

He had already lost so much, the only thing left was Su Hongxing. How could he possibly let her go?

“I really don’t understand what you’re holding on to. Our journey has led us to a dead end. If you insist on continuing, I believe it will ultimately harm us both. Why can’t we live our separate lives and not disturb each other?” Su Hongxing asked quietly.

She didn’t hold high hopes for this conversation to begin with. After all, having been entangled with him for so long, she knew what a stubborn man he was.

“I don’t know either, but I just can’t let go of you,” Ye Qilan said, his eyes reflecting the sadness in his tone.

At the start, he thought Su Hongxing was just one of the many women in his life—perhaps special, but not irreplaceable.

Later on, with each instance of him sacrificing her for his own success, and each time he gave up success for her, he realized how extraordinary she was.

Despite these painful lessons, she resolved to never look back.

“You once asked if I hated you. At that time, I didn’t think so. But later, when I took innocent lives to retaliate against you, I realized that I did hate you. I despise the person you made me into, loathe how you trapped my freedom, and most of all, I detest how you stomped on my dignity. But my hatred for you has nothing to do with love, because, I have never loved you. I never did before, I don’t now, and I never will, do you understand?”

Su Hongxing’s voice was pleasing to the ear, her expression compassionate.

But this seemingly gentle woman spoke words that cut deep.

“No matter what, I still want you.” Ye Qilan took a step forward, pulling Su Hongxing into his arms.
