Chapter 161 161. Unexpected Notification.
"You will continue to live the way they want you to."
"But while you do this, I want you to gather any information you can about the two of them."
"And if you…." Kevin still had a few things to say but noticed Axel timidly raising his hand, asking for permission to speak.
So, he allowed him, "What is it?"
"U-um, Mr Ned Baratheon has a wife and child, but the child doesn't belong to either of them, is this information good enough?" Axel slowly raised his head up to see Kevin's expression.
Kevin was now sitting in a lotus position with his left elbow resting on his left thigh while his cheek rested on his curled fist.
Axel was expecting a look of approval and acknowledgement from Kevin but was instead dumbfounded to see a look of disdain and disappointment from him as though he had expected better information.
But that was all Axel knew about Ned Baratheon.
"Is that all?"
"Y-yes," Axel hung his head in disappointment.
"What about Christopher Mormon?"
"I'm sorry. I know nothing about him."
"How disappointing," Kevin remarked with a frown.
Seeing that Axel had nothing more to say, he continued. "Your main task still remains that you will find out whatever you can about the both of them."
"If there's anything you find out about them and you feel like there's an urgent need for me to know, you must find a secluded spot away from other people but with enough light to create a shadow on the floor or the wall."
"Then you will share the information you have for me with your shadow. No one will reply to you, but know that once you've said everything you want to inform me about, your message will immediately be delivered to me."
Axel nodded his head obediently after hearing this.
Even if Axel thought of hiding some vital information from him, Cerberus' clone would be present whenever Axel discovered any important information that could help Kevin.
The clone would have updated Kevin hours before Axel decided to even open his mouth to speak.
If he finally passed the information and Kevin noticed that he wasn't revealing everything he actually knew, Kevin would have no choice but to reward him with the punishment he deserved.
Ultimately, the reward would be Axel's death.
"And don't even think of betraying me because if you do," Kevin began before pointing at Axel's shadow which housed Cerberus' clone who was anxiously waiting to tear him to shreds as the crimson flame in its mouth morphed into a smile and a malicious grin that he directed at Axel.
"He will make you wish you were never born."
Axel swallowed a huge chunk of saliva before turning back to Kevin.
"Now get out of my sight. I'll let you know when I need you again."
Axel's eyes widened in disbelief. "I should leave? B-but I don't even know where I am."
"Then, would you like me to give you some directions?" Kevin tilted his head as he asked this with an ominous grin.
"Eiii!!" Axel's heart clenched with fear as he stumbled and fell to the ground again.
Although it may have sounded like Kevin genuinely wanted to help him, Axel knew his words contrasted with his true intentions which were vividly displayed on his face.
He hurriedly lifted himself from the floor and ran in the opposite direction.
He might be in the middle of nowhere, but there should at least be a few people around, right??
Kevin watched as Axel vanished into the distance. He took a deep breath and finally released it before pulling up his phone from his back pocket.
Victoria and Sasha had been calling him since last night but he couldn't answer their calls due to what he had been doing to Axel at the time.
And it took him a while to find Max's corpse before flying to a farther distance to bury it as well.
But now that the sun was rising, he texted them that he would be returning back home soon.
However, before he left his current location, he needed to check a few things first.
Kevin surfed the internet to find information on how things went out with the sale of Max's company. He saw a video that was the continuation of the press conference he had been watching before leaving his house yesterday.
"This video is about what Ned Baratheon was saying to the press when I left the house yesterday."
"I guess I could find out what he talked about yesterday."
Kevin played the video.
"I'm certain you all know that I'm the current CEO of Baratheon Ltd. so it will be a bit difficult for me to also handle Maxflix on my own," Ned Baratheon scratched the back of his head with a chuckle and the press laughed at his statement.
"This is why my son will become the new CEO of Maxflix. He'll be in charge of 40% of the shares. while five other trusted business partners will be in charge of the other 30% shares in Maxflix."
"And as for the remaining 30%, we'll be selling it to the highest bidder in a month's time. Only those we think are worthy of potentially becoming future partners will be given a private invitation, a venue and a date for when the bidding will commence."
"That will be all," Ned Baratheon waved goodbye before exiting the room, completely ignoring the countless questions that were being asked by the reporters.
The video finally came to an end and Kevin turned off his phone. His grip on his phone tightened as he thought about why Ned Baratheon would want to sell such a high percentage of shares.
But if Kevin was to find out Ned Baratheon's true objective, he would have to get close to him.
In short, he would have to become someone Ned Baratheon trusted.
But someone like Ned was only interested in people who could help improve his company.
And in the situation they were currently in, Ned would only be interested in getting close to someone capable of being the highest bidder for the shares he was selling.
This meant that if Kevin wanted to get close enough to Ned to gain his trust, he would have to be the winner of the auction which would be taking place in a month.
"But what did he mean by those who are worthy?"
"I guess this means that they'll be paying attention to those whose businesses are flourishing before the auction day."
