Chapter 158 158. Encountering The Impostor.
Kevin narrowed his eyes at her and pointed towards the huge mutt behind him before speaking in a low intimidating voice.
"My pet will be staying within your shadow from now on and If it detects anyone suspicious close to you, besides the people you mentioned as your family, my pet will instantly feed on them.
"You're allowed to live your life as you did before I arrived, but if it notices you acting suspiciously or that you lied to me, it will devour every single person you care about, before slowly devouring you in the most painful and gruesome way you can ever imagine."
The chief matron watched as Kevin's sapphire blue eyes turned crimson, emphasizing the severity of his words.
She nodded in fear and watched as the huge mutt leaped into her shadow.
She slowly stood up and glanced at her shadow, watching as the huge demon dog kept staring at her, growling, while its large flaming eyes and razor-sharp teeth snapped in her direction, ready to pounce if she tried anything funny.
Since the chief matron didn't know anything else that could help him, Kevin returned her to the hospital, making it look like nothing happened even though she hadn't been in the hospital for the past half hour.
The chief matron also tried her best to act like she hadn't experienced a life-changing moment just some seconds ago for the rest of the day.
She attended to the patients she was meant to with a smile on her face.
But for the next couple of days, the Chief matron will also find it hard to sleep knowing a demon dog was carefully watching every step she made and planned to devour everyone she loved dearly if she tried to betray Kevin.
Currently, Kevin was hovering in the sky, mulling over what the chief matron said a few minutes ago.
And with what she said, it meant that Kevin had two new targets on his list, Mr Ned Baratheon and the impostor who was trying to live as his dad.
One might have thought that Kevin would be taken aback when he heard that Ned Baratheon was involved in murdering his father.
But he wasn't really surprised because he already found it odd that his father would willingly sell his company, not to mention selling it to his greatest rival of all people.
It just hadn't made sense to Kevin for Max to do all that, but now, it made sense to him why his dad's company was sold to Ned Baratheon.
Although, he still had no idea why Ned Baratheon wanted his dad's company so badly he was willing to resort to murder just to get it.
There were several other ways to get Max's company instead of choosing murder. Nevertheless, since Ned Baratheon had a hand in the death of his dad, Kevin was going to make the rest of his life a misery.
Although, he still didn't know how Christopher Mormon became so close to someone like Ned Baratheon.
Kevin also couldn't ignore the fact that Ned Baratheon could be the last man in the video on the night of the o.r.g.y.
And since they were both present on the day Max was killed in the hospital, Ned Baratheon might really be the last man on his target list.
Anyway, all this was still based on his own speculation and he didn't have any substantial evidence to back it up at the moment.
Also, since he wasn't completely sure about all this, Kevin wasn't going to jump to conclusions without obtaining the proof he needed to back his speculations.
So, his objective was to find out why Ned Baratheon was willing to go as far as murdering Max just to get the company and to figure out where exactly Max's body currently was.
But to find out about the latter, Kevin would have to pay a visit to the person who was currently impersonating his father.
___
It was currently nighttime. The impostor, who was still acting as Max in the eye of the public, walked out of the car that was parked in front of a luxurious hotel.
He had booked a room in this hotel because the hotel was very close to Max's company which now belonged to Ned Baratheon.
He opened the door to his room which was still dark, then gently flicked the light on before looking around the room only to find Kevin sitting on a chair in front of him.
"Hello, father."
"How has your day been?"
The impostor's heart skipped a few beats when he suddenly heard Kevin's voice and saw him sitting in front of him.
He was surprised that he didn't notice Kevin's presence when he first entered the room.
His senses were very sharp because he was an awakened, so he was pretty confident in his perceptive skills and was always able to tell when people were around him due to his heightened sense of smell and hearing. However, he didn't sense anything when he entered.
So, how the h.e.l.l did Kevin suddenly appear out of nowhere and materialize in front of him?
The Impostor tried to remain relaxed as he replied calmly.
"Oh, Kevin?"
"What brings you here?"
"I didn't see you after my meeting came to an end."
"Where did you go?"
"And how did you know this was my room?"
But Kevin didn't reply to his questions, instead, he kept his gaze locked on him.
Even though Kevin hadn't activated Berserker's Rage yet, his eyes were already reflecting the emotions running through his mind.
And it didn't take long for the impostor to understand that something about Kevin wasn't right.
Moreover, why was Kevin tapping his feet like someone who was feeling impatient?
He then looked closer at Kevin's feet and found several shards of glass scattered beneath them.
'Huh? Glass?'
'Why would glass be on the floor?' He thought to himself before suddenly lifting his gaze to discover that a part of the glass wall behind Kevin had been broken and a massive gust of wind was blowing into his room.
'Wait a minute, did he come in through the window?' He thought in shock.
'But this room was the highest in the hotel, right? How then, did he manage to get in through the window?' While trying to understand how Kevin broke in, he noticed a few shards of glass still stuck on Kevin's face. A bit of his blood was still dripping from where the glass shards got stuck on his face.
'Wait a minute, don't tell me he flew into the room?!' The impostor thought to himself incredulously.
